Arrival Story: We adopted him in the beginning of July 2008 from a family who is moving and can only take one pet with them. Mochi can be very stubborn and tries to reclaim "his" territory. It takes a lot of patience and I mean ALOT... There is no way to trick him because he is way too smart for that! He used to have no rules, no limits whatsoever. He does now!
We walk/run with him for at least two hours a day and he loves to carry the water for all of us :o) Since he had no leash training, he used to pull alot but he is much better now and the everyday walks are becoming very refreshing and enjoyable!
We are still working on the housebreaking process with the help of a crate (he is slowly getting used to it - before, he was outside in the backyard most of the time)
We are very consistent, patient and calm about this and eventually he will get accustomed to our rules and routine.
His first VET visit was surprisingly pleasant. In the beginning he sniffed around because he is very curious and needed to smell EVERYTHING first. After he calmed down and was examined, got his shots, nails trimmed, etc. he did not make a sound! The vets already love him and said Mochi is very well behaved! Yay! haha Our training and daily walks are paying off!
When I first picked him up, he would not stop jumping from couch to couch and only two weeks later he calmed down so much!
I already know that my husband and I are well on our way to becoming good pack leaders!
Bio: Mochi is very sweet, way too smart, very curious, obedient whenever he is calm, he doesn't like to go for walks in the pouring rain, is starting to become more playful and less anxious. We're getting him used to several sounds he doesn't like too much but since he is almost always more curious than afraid, it is quite easy for us.
In the car, he lays down whenever he gets too tired or there are too many turns on the road but most of the time he loves to stand up against the window to look outside! (he even managed to open the window twice!... lol we usually lock it now)
He gets along well with other dogs (unless they seem out of control, then he steps back), he is ok with strangers but doesn't like to be pet by them right away. Those, who let him sniff them first, he will let come closer ;o)
He loved the fireworks on the 4th of July!
His sleeping positions are very unique ;oP
If ignored, he can be right in your face - literally. If he doesn't agree with you, he doesn't like something or he is bored or fed up, he will "sigh".

I was tagged by Yuki-san. Here are the rules: Write 7 things about yourself others may not know, then tag 7 of your pals by paw-mail or rosette. Have fun!
Here are my 7 things:
1) I love to eat achorns and rabbit poop
2) I love sniffing out fuzz all around the apartment and sometimes eat it! yum!
3) I have a brown mark on my head and my pawrents keep thinking it's a drop of pee but it's not!!!
4) I love big dogs
5) My girlfriend is a really cute miniature Schnauzer
6) I arooo for my grandma over the phone but rarely for anyone else.
7) Eventhough I'm a shiba, my pawrents say I am very well-behaved (is that good or bad?)
Yeah, I don't like baths too much...
My mom bathed me today. She actually managed to do it all by herself without me making a mess. But, she did forget that I pee right after my showers. She got mad at me for not staying in one spot while cleaning it up but eventually I did stay and she was happy with me and took me outside right after I calmed down. All in all, it wasn't too bad and I am now a clean and happy shiba again :oP
