Running with my family....

Today Mom took me and Toto and Pinki and Walter down to play in the lab yard. It was pretty fun. It's the first time I ever got to play with our son, Walter. He takes after me, that is for sure! He is not afraid of anything. I would hide behind the bushes and leap out at him and he never even missed a step! Problem was that his little puppy teeth HURT when he would grab onto my ear!
Pinki and I had it great down there... there are a ton of weeds and tall plants with fuzzy seeds and dead leaves on them and they only got stuck in our ears. Poor Walter is covered with that puppy fuzz coat... he looked like someone had rolled him in rolled oats! Some new kind of cookie, I guess. I sure do not miss all that coat, and I'm sure Pinki and Toto don't miss it, either!
Finally we came home and Mom put me and Pinki in the middle pen so we could still be outside. It was almost 50 today, which is pretty darn warm for the last weekend of November. Gosh, we were playing in snow down there on Nov. 17 th last year! I do miss the snow, sort of, anyway. It is cold and wet and it does get pretty boring when it lasts sooo long, but it's nice when it is all fluffy and white. Alfie's auntie came down today... she was supposed to come yesterday but they got 6 inches of snow at her house. Glad we didn't get it yet!

More Turkey........

Today Mom took all the leftover turkey and put it in a huge pot with some water, some veggies and some macaroni. It cooked all day long, and finally she said it was ready. That is all we got for dinner tonight. Not that it wasn't enough, mind you, but she didn't dilute it down with our regular dry food. Mmmmmmm, I can still taste it!! And, believe it or not, Mom ate the same dinner as we did!
I love Turkey, I sure hope Mom gets another one for Christmas. I could sure eat another few meals of turkey soup and good stuff like that! Mom says I have no problem eating, however. Well, I am not skinny like Toto, but I am not fat, either!! I am just right. Hey, would you believe Toto was the only one who didn't eat all his turkey dinner tonight? He is pretty strange!!!

Happy Thanksgiving...

Us pups up here in New England want to wish all of your pups a very, very happy Thanksgiving filled with lots of nice turkey. While the vets see more dogs with intestional upsets on Black Friday than any other day, Mom wants everyone to know it's not the turkey that is the villian!!! Turkey by itself is good for dogs... it is a safe, mild meat (unless you are allergic to it!!!) The problem comes with the rest of the Thanksgiving dinner. Worst of all is that great tasting fatty turkey skin. Man, is that stuff good, but, man is that stuff hard for us to digest and it really strains our pancreas. And, also a problem is the gravy and the stuffing, for the same reasons. Most of the veggies are okay, especially the sweet potatoes and the brocolli. But, watch out for the sauces on the veggies. A small piece of roll or bread won't hurt, but be light on the butter, please. As for dessert... skip that in favor of another piece of turkey!!!! And, you better stay away from the wine or you will be whining with a big headache.
Another thing to remember, watch where your parents put those turkey bones! Cooked turkey bones splinter really easily and can puncture your digestive system. Also, it is possible you could choke on them!!! If either of those things happen, you will be spending Black Friday visiting with your veterinarian and your pawrents will be angry... moms cuz they would rather spend the time and money on Black Friday specials and dads cuz they wanna watch all that football!!!
Soo, let's all go out and pawty hearty... but not too hearty!!! Happy Turkey day to everyone!
