Arrival Story: My poor girl. Lilly had gotten to where she could not control herself if around Missy, one of my long term foster dogs, nor could she help but attack other dogs in the pack when any kind of disagreement would arise. Lilly's attacks were vicious and her intention was to kill. Missy and Lilly were kept seperate at all times after it was clear it was dangerous for both to have them where they could reach each other. Lilly loves nothing more than to initiate play. She would lay her head down with her rear in the air , tilt her head sideways, which was an open invitation to play. The ugly part is even when she was happy playing, at any given moment if any growling was heard, she would snap into attack mode. I have broken up many fight involving Lilly, each of them were dangerous. It was down right impossible to get her to let go of the dog she was attacking. One fight, ended up with me protecting Lilly with my body from the other females that had grown tired of Lilly's attacks. The girls had been playing and out of no where with no warming and no argument between dogs, Lilly came running lika a rhino into the group of girls attacking Macy. The girls turned on Lilly and I honestly thought she was going to be torn apart. I covered her hoping I could protect her from the girls, but it did not help. Suddenly I looked up and there was my 6'2 son pulling on girl after another off of Lilly and I. I was amazing to realize how percise the girls were since they did not touch me, but were still biting at her under me. One I came home exhausted and absent mindedly had both Lilly and Missy out together. Lilly immediatly lunged at Missy and the fight was on. Missy only got a few scratches while Lilly was torn up very bad. I knew I could no longer allow Lilly to terrorize the rest of the pack with her unpredictable fits of rage. Lilly was euthanized at our vets office. She was given a sedative. Her had grew heavy in my hand while I told her how much I loved her and what a passion girl she was. I have never put a dog down except to end their suffering. This was a terrible decision I had to make, but I feel I made the right one. Run fast, play hard and fly free my Lilly Pad. I do miss her terribly.
I adopted Lady Lilly Pad from the Arlington Animal Shelter on 7/1/2008 when she was a year old as a playmate for my 3rd shelter rescue Curly Joe. She had been found as a stray. I saw her picture on petfinder, and fell in love with her doggy smile. The match between Curly & Lilly has been absolutely perfect. Still the two of them play until they pass out. Lilly is a pit/heeler mix that is the only member of the pack that has individual friendships with all the members. She is very smart and requires extra training to keep her pit side balanced.

For the past 2 weeks I've been getting my miss Lilly ready for her Good Citizen 6 week training course with Lana from Gone To The Dogs. Since Lula has already attended, but did not pass her test, I have been training them together so both can attend the 6 week course together. Lilly has attacked Lula, which was 100 % provoked by Lula. I had Lana come out for a house call to observe my canine pack of 4. She told me that training Lilly & Lula together will help them not only walk out their issues but also make the pack issues between the females less drastic therefore bringing the pack closer together. So, next Sunday, we start. It only took Lilly 15 minutes to understand her training collar and figure out where her comfort zone with it is. I looking forward to Lilly's training.
