Quick Bio:

Likes:
cheese, more cheese, more CHEESE!!! climbing rocks, catching butterflies and flies; swiming; new people; cuddling, kissing; watching planes and helicopters, stargazing

Pet-Peeves:
grooming, of course

Favorite Toy:
rubber balls, including the one sized for horses -- a new basketball lasts about 30 seconds, but these withstand chewing

Favorite Food:
CHEESE!!! raw liver, heart, bones, chicken necks... more CHEESE.... vanilla ice cream (on a special occasion only),

Favorite Walk:
rocky trails in the woods nearby, ocean beach, Callahan dog park

Best Tricks:
he likes to roll in pine needles on the lake shore where fishing people leave dead small fish - he would take one, bring to the spot where the needles look better, drop it, roll there, pick it up, take to another location with gresh needles... and so on.

Arrival Story:
I wrote to almost every breeder in the country, starting with those closest to me because I wanted to choose him and pick him up, but either they had no pups ready for new homes while the summer was still there, or the pick of th elitter was already spoken for, or else. After one litter looked perspective, I wanted to learn more about the sire, looked him up on the Internet -- and found other interesting dogs on the same page. One of them apeared to have 4-week old pups, still available, and my husband was traveling in that area -- so he chose him, and two weeks later we drove to JFK to meet the brave traveler -- all by himslef, long flight -- and no signs of discomfort, except being shy for almost two minutes and dehydrated. He drank and ate and was getting affection and chewable toys in the back seat while we were driving home and ever since.

I was a happy schnauzer... until yesterday when I learned...:(

dogs who have everything... dogs who lost everything...

Today I learned that while I am happily destroying the backyard (dig-dig-dig....) and the walls and moldings in the house (chew-chew-chew....) and the food (swallow, swallow, swallow...)

...that there are other creatures that even look exactly like me (some have that funny long thing attached to their behind which I love to pull on but we all have the same sparkle in the eyes and unconditional love to our humans ...)

...there are others who cannot dig, cannot chew, cannot even eat or drink(!).... I learned that there are dogs who lost their humans or were dumped by their loved ones (who they loved unconditionally)... they didn't commit any crime but were put on a death row or in prison! Some were lucky and now can dig and chew in their new homes, but others keep getting kicked out of another home for just being themselves!

And I even learned that a simple eat-drink thing can't be taken for granted -- my Mom told me about a dog named Foster who chokes every time he swallows because he has a fistula (hole) in his esophagus that connects to his airways, so the food and water get into his trachea! He needs surgery, but it costs al ot of money, and his foster mom has only raised so much, and while she is trying to raise more, he has to swallow ice cubes instead of drinking water! And he can develop pneumonia any time from aspirated food! And I bet it is also painful!

Early in his life this pup has lost his human who died and his little sister who went to another home... Hasn't he had a lot?

I asked my mom and dad to sent this pup some money because I don't have my bank acocunt yet, and I thought that maybe if other dogs learn about this pup we can all ask our humans to help him ?

If you would like to meet him, here he is (you need to copy the link and paste it in your browser):
