Making People Happy

I just wanted to write in my diary how good it feels to hear that I make someone else happy, other than my mom!! Mom and I take a walk every night when she gets home from work. I love our walks because we live in a nice small community where most humans say hello when they walk by. My walks are a lot of fun because humans will stop me and mom on the street and ask to pet me. They will mention to mom that they have seen us walking around town and that they have been wanting to come over and say hi to me because I look so friendly. I love that because I love humans. Usually our evening walks are around our small town green. There is a nice big grassy area with benches, a teeny tiny train station, our local police station, and some little stores. That means there are plenty of people to say hi to. Lately on our walks we have run into a very nice man. He loves to stop and say hello to me. Mom makes sure I sit nicely when I see him because he is disabled. He has trouble walking and has a speech problem. Every day on our walk he comes over to talk to me and pet me and give me kisses. He always has a bag of ice with him so that he can feed the ice to me because he thinks it is too hot out. Mom doesn't even mind that he thinks I'm a girl and calls me Lassie. He is so happy when he sees me, he gives me tons of kisses, pets me quite a bit and talks to me. Well, tonight mom and I were walking our usual route and a policeman came walking over to us and said "Is that Lassie???" and mom remembering that my friend calls me Lassie laughed and said yes, that I was Lassie. Mom explained that I'm really Oliver. The policeman said that he knows all about me because my friend who gives me ice has told everyone he knows about Lassie the dog who stops everyday to give him kisses. The policeman told mom that my friends name is Frank, that he has severe brain damage from a stroke a few years ago. He is only 40 years old. The police man said that everyone knows Frank because he can't work and visits all the stores and the police station to say hello everyday. The policeman wanted to thank mom for letting me stop and say hi to Frank everyday because it has made Frank very happy. Frank went into the police station and told them that he gets kisses from Lassie everyday. The policeman said that Frank grabs a chair and sits on the sidewalk in the afternoon (for about 2 hours) waiting for us to walk by and that he tells everyone he sees that he is waiting for Lassie to come say hello. That made mom feel so wonderful. It's not a huge thing, but she is glad that we have made another person whose life is tough, a little bit happier. Frank can keep calling me Lassie all he wants, I'll still continue giving him kisses. It's nice to know that we have made a bit of a difference to someone.

WOOHOO I have been luv tagged by my best girl Bella!!

So..now I have to tag 10 pals and say nice things about them. That's easy!!

Bella - She is so pretty with those giant brown eyes. Bella is a big giant sweetie! She is the best co-pilot any get away driver could ask for! She's also great at running away from scary things, just like me!! She's a big ole' luv bug.

Gypsy - 533273 - She's 10 yeas old and has more spunk than a lot of puppies out there. Gypsy is cute and fluffy like me. She is just a sweet girl.

Skye -376131- It's all in the eyes man...Skye has that cool different colored eye that I am jealous of! He's just all around cool and he is Quinny's brother, so that makes him a good guy.

Quinn - 376732 - Her song on her page makes me dance everytime I hear it. Her song makes me happy. Quinny is a sweetie and just as happy as her song is. Quinny is another pretty girl.

Webster - 441532 - My dog partner in crime. Always willing to strap on his doggles and make the rounds in the car with me! He's got that intellectual look about him, so he'd make me look smart if we hung out together. Web is a cool dude.

Awesome - 530080 - What can I say, Awesome is just awesome!! He was the life of my birthday with his super clow outfit. He always has the party hoppin. He's cute as a button too.

Daisy May - 482412 - A true sweet pea. Daisy is a true friend to a lot of us around here. She made me my beautiful blingee picture on my page, I love it! I'm so glad she is my friend.

Josie - 577827 - Josie, Josie, Josie, what can I say about Josie. Josie is Josie.. She is a mastiff in a chihuahua body. She is the spunkiest and the silliest girl out there. Josie makes me BOL everyday! She saves me when my mom stalks me with the camera. She is also a little trouble maker, but I think that's great!! She's a pal. And soo adorable.

Minster Jr. - 577814 - Minster is too cool for words. He's everybody's friend. Just like Josie, he has huge dog spirit in a lil body. Minster puts up with all of Josie's antics like a trooper.

Abby - 577606 - I just met Abby recently, but she is a cool pup. I think she is so funny and silly. She can fly too! (just go see for yourself on her page). Abby has a beautiful name just like my late sister Abby.

And the best nice thing I can say about all my pup pals here, they are all around GREAT beacuse they make their families so very happy. If they didn't, they wouldn't be here on dogster with such great pages, showing how much they are loved!!

So, you see, I tagged Abby, Minster, Josie, Daisy May, Awesome, Webster, Quinny, Skye, Gypsy and in a way, Bella.

I make mom laugh...

Mom always says what a silly boy I am. I am not quite sure what that means, but, I go along with her since she feeds me. Anyway, mom and I go for a nice long walk everyday. I love it. Mom says we go about five miles. All I know is it is just right for me to meet as many people as I possibly can. Well, on Sundays we go for our nice long walk and then we stop at a little general store to say hello to some of my favorite people, eat a couple of treats and buy what mom calls a "Sunday paper". So today is Sunday. As usual mom is awake before me. I prefer to sleep in. Mom got up and did her morning routine while I continued to get my beauty sleep. After mom got ready she went down to the front door and grabbed my leash so I would wake up. After my stretching and yawning, I decided to walk down to the door. There was mom waiting for me. I nosed around a bit then decided to see what she was up to. She said "ready to go??" Which I was, I love my walk. So, I sat down for mom to put my collar and leash on me. Mom got me ready and said "let's go". So, I decided to show mom what a "silly boy" I am. I went to the table in our hall like mom does before she goes out and I grabbed the same little black "wallet" that mom always grabs before she leaves. I knew mom needed it because that is where she hides my walk treats and the money she buys her Sunday paper with. Mom laughed at me and told me I am silly. So, she tought I was going to give her the wallet, but she was wrong. It was my job to carry her wallet. I am the boy, I need to carry the wallet. She should have known that. So anyway, after she figured out that I was in charge of the money, we decided to leave. We headed out the front door and we were on our way. Mom just kept looking at me and laughing. I guess she thought it was funny that I was walking around with her wallet hanging out of my mouth. Other people thought it was funny too. As we walked people who walked by laughed at me. One very nice family pulled over to laugh and point. What mom doesn't realize is that I do these "silly" things just so I get more attention from people. So, we went on our five mile walk. Th entire time we walked I was a good boy and carried mom's wallet for her. When we got to or store where we stop to say hi, I was a very smart boy and put mom's wallet on the floor in front of her. I had to, there were tasty treats to be eaten. Mom was silly and tought she had been given possession of her wallet again, but she was sadly mistaken. I finished my treats, let my friends at the store pet me and then let mom know it was time to go. I sat in front of her like a nice polite boy and stared at her wallet. When mom FINALLY figured out wat I was doing, she handed me the wallet and I took it back for our walk home. We headed back home with me happily being in control of the cash. Mom laughed at me the entire time because she said I looked so silly carrying a wallet. I have no idea why it was so silly. I thought I was quite smart remembering that we needed to take money with us on our Sunday walk. So that was my morning adventure. I think I will take it easy for a little while. I have to save my energy for later. Mom said she is going to a picnic today and she can't take me because its too hot outside for me and her dad has cats, so I can't stay inside. So, lucky me, that means I get to go ovr my pug cousins Rocky and Rosie's house to keep them company. That means lots and lots of running around like we are insane. Rosie is a wild child according to mom and just gets me going. She brings out the "naughty boy" in me. We run around like nuts, we wrestle and torture poor Rocky who is much quieter than us. But its fun fun fun. When I get home tonight, I will tell you of my adventures!!

TAG!!
facts
Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary!!!

Holy cow, I don’t know if we can think of 7 more things….. Here we go.

1. English Shepherds come in 4 colors.. Black & white (meeeee), sable & white, tri color (black, tan & white) and black & tan.
2. Before I came along, mom lived with another English Shepherd, Abby, that’s how she fell in love with the breed. Abby’s shoes were BIG shoes to fill, but I’m doing a good job filling my own shoes!
3. When need to go outside to go potty, I don’t walk to the door or bark at mom. I walk over to her and just stare at her until she figures it out and goes and gets my leash.
4. When I am nervous, I find the closest person I can and I go and put my head between their legs (like when a loud garbage truck goes by) and hide.
5. I have a dog bed that is big enough for me to fit on, but I am still a doofus and when I go to bed at night, I lay with only my behind on my bed and the top half of my body is under mom’s bed.
6. I love to play chase. I will find any dog at the park to chase me, I will run up to them and nudge them and run away and keep doing that until they finally give in and chase me, then I run in circles around a tree hoping they will continue to chase after me. It’s great fun, you all should try it if you haven’t.
7. I think I am a lap dog.

I now have tagged: Manny, Bonnie Brilynn, Luckystar, Casey The Super Dog, Petunia Grace, Leroy Hatsis Airport Dog and Duncan!

1. English shepherds are only recognized by the UKC, but they are one of the first dogs to be brought over by the English settlers to work the farms as live stock herders.

2. I refuse to drink water out of a metal bowl no matter how thirsty I get.
3. I don’t bark, even when people come to the house and I don’t know who they are. I can bark, I just chose not to.

4. I was born in New York on a small working organic farm and lived there until I was 2 months old.

5. When mom takes me for a walk, I have to take my stuffed toy bird with me and carry him where ever I go even when we go on our daily 5 mile walks.

6. I do not like to get wet, if there are rain puddles outside, I even jump over those.

7. Just like most English Shepherds, I love to herd and I always try herding the other dogs at the dog park, it is quite fun. If they won’t let me corral them, I run over to my mom crying.
