Likes:
I LOVE going to my Grandma's house! Just the mention of her name sends me into a butt-wiggling & snorting frenzy. I also love other dogs, traveling, food, sleeping, massages, car rides, and a warm blanket in the middle of a king-size bed

Pet-Peeves:
Thunder, fireworks, bugs (eww!) and when other dogs have bad manners. I am also extremely un-fond of squirrels. Who do they think they are...climbing my trees?!?

Favorite Toy:
A green octopus that Mommy bought from a dog boutique in Port Warwick. She has re-attached the "legs" with her sewing machine MANY times, but I like to keep ripping them off.

Favorite Food:
"Frosty Paws" Ice Cream for dogs, bacon and cheese are my favorites (but really, I love ALL food)

Favorite Walk:
I LOVE the beach. I love to play with Mommy & Daddy in the water, dig holes in the sand, swim and socialize with other dogs (and people too) I am also very fond of any area containing dead animals. I mean, they just smell SOOOOO good!!!!!

Best Tricks:
I know how to "whisper" quietly instead of barking, I can "dance" on 2 legs, I can "play dead" and I can "speak" on command. I am also a very highly-respected guard dog. Just try to come near my Mommy & Daddy, House or Mommy's car without my permission.

Arrival Story:
In November of 1999, when my Mommy was 17 years old, she found an ad in the newspaper for 5 week old Pit-Bull/Dalmation mix puppies, free to a good home. Having grown up with "family" dogs as a kid, she wanted a dog of her own for quite some time. Now that I am almost 9 years old, she says I am still the best thing she has ever gotten for free and she can not possibly imagine her life without me. My Mommy says that I was too young to leave my Doggy-Mommy, but that she had an infection and could not feed me anymore. So, my new Mommy fed me with a bottle for a few weeks and eased me on to solid food at the same time. Now I am big, well-fed and strong as an ox!

Bio:
I was born in Norfolk, VA on October 20, 1999. When I was 5 weeks old, I went to live with my new Mommy in Virginia Beach, VA. Mommy says that I was potty-trained within a week and I haven't had any accidents in the house since then. (except that time last year when I was accidentally given spicy food...but that wasn't my fault, so it doesn't count) In 2007, she met my new Daddy, and they got married. (I was the Best Man in their wedding, on the beach of course) I love my new Daddy so much!

Diary of a Mad Black Dog (I'm not actually mad though)

It's Chewy Bone day!!

August 30th 2008 6:19 pm   [link to this entry]

"Awwwww yeeeaaaahhh!" I screamed to myself after dinner. Daddy just remembered that today is Chewy Bone day!! Saturday is the most important day of the week for me. Once a week (on Saturday) I get this huge, tasty meat-filled treat in the evening called a Chewy Bone. It is so tasty. I believe that it's formal name is "Purina Busy Bone Ultimate Chew" (large size) Mommy & Daddy call it the Chewy Bone. They are about $5 each and they keep me occupied for quite a while on Saturday evenings. Mommy used to buy me one every week when she went grocery shopping on Friday and then give it to me on Saturday evenings...but, she forgot several times and I would literally walk over to the pantry and wait for my bone, but there wasn't one there! Now every few weeks Mommy will just buy all of the Chewy Bones in the store and she will come home with like 10 of them and stock up the pantry. She said she feels really bad when she forgets to buy one, so she likes to keep them on hand in the pantry. Well, *slurp slurp*. I just finished up my Chewy Bone for tonight and now I have to scour the floor, my bed and every surface around it to verify that every last little morsel of my Chewy Bone is cleaned up. Then, I think I will go walk around the backyard, have a sniff with Midnight (our neighbor's dog) through the fence and then go hang out with Mommy & Daddy and whatever kind of shenanigans they are up to.

Happy Labor Day Weekend,
Alexander

A big ball of warm black velvet that licks your face when- you make eye contact with it.

August 24th 2008 6:27 am   [link to this entry]

*yawn* Good morning fuzzy buddies! It's about 9:30 am on Sunday morning. I just went out to get the newspaper with Mommy and I thought I would stop to paw an entry in my diary. In the past week or so, Mommy discovered my first white whisker. I have had white hair on my face for a couple of years, but all of my whiskers remained black until now. Mommy said it is just another sign of my maturity and that I am still the most handsome dog in world. I have responded by being extra-cuddly all week long. I am usually a very affectionate dog because I just LOVE humans. But this past week, something about me is different. I am more "clingy". More attached. (Mommy said she didn't think that was possible) I have been jumping into Mommy & Daddy's bed and sleeping right next to Mommy's head. (I usually sleep in my own bed) Mommy is kinda baffled by it, but she says she loves it too. She said it's like sleeping next to a big ball of warm black velvet that licks your face when you make eye contact with it. I follow her everywhere. No matter what she is doing, I have to be in it. Laundry? Yep, let me help you with the clothes! Cooking? Of course! Watching t.v.? Oh yeah....just let me get comfy right next to you on the couch. Hanging out in the pool in the backyard? Yep. Just throw my tennis ball in. Going out to check the mail? Yep. Just give me the head nod and I'll follow you out the door and carry the mail back to the house for you. Working in the yard? Yep, I'll be within a few feet of you, sniffing and marking every spot possible. Arts & crafts in the craft room? Yep. I'll be laying at your feet the entire time. I love my humans. Can't get enough of them. They say the feeling is mutual too :-) Well, Daddy is still in bed, so I think I will go wake him up with some puppy kisses and enjoy my lazy Sunday.

xoxo,
Alex

This Wii has turned our house upside down

August 8th 2008 2:57 pm   [link to this entry]

Woof! What a week. Mommy & Daddy got this new thing called a Wii and I have to tell you, it is kinda scary!! They keep jumping around in the living room, waving their arms everywhere and I don't like it. I heard something about interactive video games, but whatever. I'm not used to all of these "shenanigans". Yeah, that's right, I said shenanigans. The majority of the time, I like having a nice, calm, quiet house...like a museum. This whole "Wii" thing has changed ALL of that. Mommy & Daddy said that it is okay and there is nothing to be scared of. But, I still get scared every time they start to play it. *yawn* So, I got sick today while Mommy & Daddy were at work. Every room in our house has hardwood floors except the bedrooms, so guess where I decided to get sick? That's right, the new master bedroom carpet. Mommy wasn't mad though. After she cleaned the carpet, she said that I obviously couldn't help it and she told me she loves me and gave me a BIG kiss. I'm glad that Mommy understands me! She always tells Daddy that she is fluent in the "Dog" language. I can just walk up to her and she knows what I want most of the time. She also knows that deep-down in my heart, I would never, ever do anything on purpose to damage the house, so these occasional accidents are well-tolerated. *lick, lick* Well, it is 6pm here on the East Coast, so that means dinner time is coming and I must go supervise.

Tail wags & Puppy Kisses,
Alex

p.s.-Happy Friday!
