Arrival Story:
I have always wanted a Golden Retriever. One day one of my closest friends told me that her golden retriever was going to have puppies. Well....fast forward to 2-14-05 my mom came to me with the phone and told me it was my friend and she had bad news and good news. I grabbed the phone and told her to tell me the bad news first and she said "The bad news is that it's on short notice but the good news is the puppies are ready!!". I was extatic, I got my parents to drive me to her house. When I finally got there I got out of the car and this beautiful baby ran up to me and i grabbed him and he just layed in my arms and gave mee lots of big kisses! My mom then told me that this puppy was the runt and probably wouldn't be that pretty when he grew up and I said no i want this one and i'm not letting go!!I got that beautifule baby and now 2 years later he turned out to be the most beautiful of the litter and the sweetest and ost smart I love my Kaysee Doo so much!! We have even been through a death defying illness together. I love him so much he is so amazing and smart and sweet and everything an awesome dog should be!!

My amazing journey with a horrible disease.

Hi, first of all this is not Kaysee this is his mommy...Shelby. This is the story of when my amazing little man (not really he might as well be a horse) got through a terrible disease. It is February 2, 2008 and I'm leaving my baby with his great grandparents for 2 weeks while I go to Disney World to dance. When I return home my sweetheart is very happy to see me and is acting perfectly fine. Tha next day I wake up and start my morning routine which consists of giving him his treat. I called his name like 5 times and he never came well now I'm really worried because he never misses his treat...well I called him a few more times and never came so I decided that he must be off exploring with his brother Paddle. But what concerns me is he missed his morning treat....Why?? That's very unusual of him. Well fastforward five days Kaysee is still not home I've been a basketcase for the last week not doing nothing and my world is falling apart around me and I learned that I can't live my life without that extra ray of sunshine that wakes me up in the morning and keeps me focused and on track and most importantly HAPPY. Now is where the work starts I'm now putting up missing dog flyers and waiting byt he phone constantly and asking all my neighbors if they had seen him. Well another week goes by still no Kaysee still no happines at my house I just no now that my baby and best friend and love of my life is not coming home I had been crying all day and was exhausted so I layed down around 5:30 for a much needed nap. At around 12:00 in the morning my mom walks in my room and says that someone has found Kaysee and he's not doing good at all and that they didn't wake me up earlier because they didn't want me to see him in case he was going to die. I must say I have never been so relieved and scared and sad and happy at the same tiome in my life it was the most amazing and horrible and scary thing I have EVER EVER expirienced in my entire life!!! So finally a truck pulled in my driveway it was my dad and the guy (whom now I woship) who found my sweet darling. They put him in our car and when I saw him I have never had more sadness in my life my beautiful baby always very happy and eager to please baby was covered in mud and rocks and blood and he had sores all over his body. But he was selfless enough through all that to weakly lift his had put it on my lap and wag his tail. We rushed to the vet who might I say we woke up in the middle of the night and called (he is one of my dad's closest friends) him and told him we had an emergancy.. can't you tell I have a profound respect for him too ?? When we finally got there he ran about 18 to 20 tests on him and still couldn't see nothing really wrong with him besides severe dehydration but there were other symptoms we didn't know why they were there and what was wrong so he said he was just going to treat him for his symptoms and I asked him if my best friend was going to live and he said he had a 5050 chance. Well he was in the hospital for three days and when we went to get him he still couldn't walk and we had to carry him everywhere. He went to hte bathroom all over himself and he was miserable and could hardly breathe and this dog who had never dropped a toy in his entire life and now he wouldn't even look at them and I think that was the hardest part for me and my family. Well about 3 weeks later we brought him for a checkup he still couldn't walk that well but at least he could kinda walk. What the vet said wasn't what I wanted to hear he said that he thought he had lupus and he said that he would never be normal Kaysee and that his life expectancy was only about 5 years. (he's only 2!!) Well fastforward about another 3 weeks we bring him back for another checkup and we told the vet that he didn't really have the symptoms of lupus and he said that his white blood count was different and that he might have misdiagnosed him and that this could be bad news and good news. So he gave him a new medicine and said that he was right and he had been wrong all that time and he had a different disease and it was called Hetarozoonosis for those of you who don't know what this is it's a disease that when you injest an infected tick it shuts down all your muscles and your immune system. Even though this is a bad disease it was awesome news and he would eventually be normal and he was going to live his entire full life :] :] :]!!
Now about three months later he is awesome and back to normal and he finally is playing with his toys and the day he finally picked it up i hugged that baby and started screaming crying!! I love my baby and now he is all better and now I really have faith in God that he is watching over me and my baby!! He is his amazing smart and talented self now!! And i'm planning to take him to hospitals to tell his story and show children his scars and tell how he survived and hopefully this awesome dog will give these amazing children hope!!
LOVE Kaysee's VERY PROUD mommy- Shelby : ]
