Arrival Story:
Duke is a foster turned adoption. We went to pick him up from Houston and I dont think I took a breathe for a minute after I saw him. He was so freaking horrible. He had a few tufts of hair on him and goopy eyes but the worst part was his scrotum sack was swollen to the size of grapefruits. I seriously wanted to kill somebody I was so pist off. I knew we were getting him and I knew he was bad so I had already set up an appointment for him at my world class vets office. A fellow ABA voulenteer from Houston had told me that he needed ivormectin taken orally for his mange. He had kennel cough, heart murmur, the worst ears imaginable, low thyroid and since the vet he had been seeing was a complete IDIOT they nutered him while he had sever mange. It took every supplement I could think of, many baths and ear cleanings to even get him off of deaths door step. Slowly he improved and started to show us his wonderful personality. I had never met a dog that had so much carisma in my life. He was such an entertainer and still is to this day. He was on the market for a new home for 9 months but with all his medical issues there were no takers. We had lost our Rottie a month before we got him and my Cheyenne really isn't to fond of new dogs, she had a traumatic experince and I dont' blame her for it so we were just going to stick with the 2 till she past on. Then one day we had Duke in the fence and her running around the yard and when I went inside for a minute and came back out I couldn't believe it. She had jumped the fence to get inside and play with Duke. I kept telling myself no but his fate was decided then and there. After eleventy billion baths and ear cleanings he is almost back to normal. He was so severe my vet isn't sure if all his hair will ever grow back but so what if it doesn't. I can handle weekly baths for the rest of his life just to keep his wonderful humor in my life.

Duke is a real sucker for a bone and bed. At 10:00 sharp every evening he goes and lays in his bed. If we have not made it to bed yet he will get up every 30 minutes to check on us but goes right back to his bed. He is a 130 lbs of puppy. He tries to prance around like a deer but it looks like a grizzley bear trying to do it. Its quite halarious. He has won the hearts of all the girls at the vets office and despite his torturous trips he still loves to go there. He loves canned cheese and liver treats. He is happy to be alive but has no problem telling you what he thinks you need to hear. He is very vocal and it can be quite startling to those who don't know him. He is adored by both our girls and a greeting is not complete unless you have a huge string of slobber on you.

Forums Motto:
Here would you like slobber with that?
