Arrival Story: Our previous dog, Jodie passed on because of old age. We knew her time was coming, so my dad was looking online for different dogs from rescue organizations in our area. Mostly smaller breeds, such as Cairn Terriers, Scotties and Schnauzers.
One night, my sister and I were looking at the website for a local no-kill shelter. I have always encouraged friends and family looking for a dog to choose a rescue dog before choosing a breeder dog. We saw Jackson (then named Hobo) on the website. I read his description, but warned my sister who REALLY wanted him that our dad would probably pass on him because he's a male, and we were looking for a female. My sister didn't care about male vs. female, and after putting his picture from the shelter's website as our computer background our dad warmed to him as well. Jodie wasn't doing so well and was beginning to suffer, so the family decided that instead of leaving her to live out her last days in pain to take her to the vet and have her put down. It was the hardest decision we had to make as a family, but after 17 long and happy years for Jodie it was the best thing to do for her. We had no idea that our parents had done this, but they had put in an application to adopt Jackson...
About a week after Jodie passed, we got a call from the shelter - our application was approved, and would we like to meet Jackson? My dad and sister went to the shelter and met him and several phone calls between Dad and Mom; Mom and Me; Me and Dad later, Jackson was in his forever home.
