Mom surprised me today with the news that I was getting a little brother! She saw one listed in one of our local rescues and she contacted them. When they contacted her today she was able to go and meet him in the vets office where he is staying. He is a westie, like me and mom says he's the spittin' image of me (of course we all look so much alike). He is only 8 months old and was picked up by the local animal control after being hit by a car. They left the poor thing sitting in one of those awful cages without giving him any medical treatment! He had a dislocated hip from being hit, and he was infested with fleas. Then the nice people from a local rescue organization came along and got him out of that awful place. They got him the care he needed and now they are giving him to us. WooHoo! I'm going with mom Thursday to pick him up from the vets, and I do have to admit to knowing that I'm going to be a little jealous at first, but it will be great. Mom says we have to drop him off at the groomers before we can even bring him home though. Poor pup is such a mess. Neither mom nor the rescue people can understand why anyone would buy a dog and then just throw it away. So very sad, but now it's a happy ending for all of us.

Lilttle brother comes home!

Whew! What a day! After all that running around and whatnot, this smarty lil snot doesn't want me near my mom! Every time I try to get to her, he starts growling like mad. We don't know if he's all bark and no bite, but mom's being careful just in case. She just keeps us out of reach and gives me my lovin'. So poopoo on him. Other then that he's fine. I understand though, he probably hasn't had any real loving in his young life. We all played with mom, separately of course, he dosen't want to share mom, or toys. He seems like he may be an alpha type. Uh-oh. They say, oh they're dogs they'll work it out, but mom won't let anybody attack me in my own home. So for now he's settled in his crate chewing on a nylabone and calming down. He certainly got comfortable quick. He's jumping on the furniture and enjoying the backyard. Mom is sure that someone had him in a home. He certainly knows what toys are, and mom says when she walks him on the leash, he automatically seems to go to her right side. That seems like he was taught heel, and he pays close attention on a leash. Normally that would be fantastic, but with mom's problem walking, she needs to use her cane on the right side. Even her wheelchair uses right hand controls. She says she work out something.

Havin' to put the gloves on!

I can't believe it's been two weeks now since Riley came home, and it seems he's getting a little more difficult. He has now become aggressively possessive over my mom. We went at it good yesterday. Mom was so proud of me that I held my own! He's jumped me three times now!! He tries to go after my kitty brother, and even went after my dad once! Mom is taking him to a special trainer tomorrow to see if there is anything he can do to help us. I don't know how long this can go on, especially if he keeps going after my dad. He won't tolerate that long, actually, neither will mom. I, on the other hand, am feeling sooo much better now. I can't believe that I got that sick that fast. It took over a week before I felt any better. I think that finally it is over. Thank goodness!!!

Things are looking up.

Well, it finally seems that Riley is settling down. He's not as aggressive anywhere in the house except the bedroom. He still seems to think he's the only one allowed near mom when she's laying down. I think he got a little confused when she said he needed to take over as watchdog! I'm comfortably retired, wa-hoo! He just needs to learn who to protect her from. I'm not worried though. He's a very smart boy and he'll learn. I'm finally feeling back to my old self. I can't ever remember being that sick before, not ever. Thank dogness that's over. My mom was very scared and I have to admit I was a little scared myself. Not too much for me but for mom, who I caught watching me alot and crying all the time. I know she was really worried. Thankdogness she's better now too. We had a pawsome time last Sunday. Our furiend Mollie and her pawrents stopped by to visit. We had such fun running and playing...of course Mollie and Riley did all of the running, I just sort of went in circles playing referee. They were so fast! I was dizzy by the time they were done, bol. Now poor little Riley tries so hard to get me or our kitty brother to play with him, but he's just a little too excited for us. Mom's gonna have to find him somepuppy to play with.

I've been tagged, twice!

Mom came up with this brilliant idea to groom us tonight for Mollie's party tomorrow. Well Riley, that little trader, sat perfect. He didn't give mom any grief at all. I decided I had to make the point for both of us. I mean, we can't let her think this an ok thing, right? Well I proceeded to do my typical wiggle and twist routine, just giving poor mom fits. Oh yeah, I'm thinking ha, this will teach her! Well guess who learned something? Me! I twisted my leg right into the tip of the closing scissors!!! It only hurt for a minute, but I think worse may be coming tomorrow. It didn't bleed alot, but I do have an open slit in my leg. Mom said it probably needs a stitch or two. I'm not at all sure what that means. I've never had one before, but I sure didn't like the look on mom's face when she said it. She called the emergency vet to see if it's ok to wait for tomorrow and they said as long as I didn't run around alot and it wasn't bleeding alot, it shouldn't be a problem. So I know her. She'll be on the phone first thing tomorrow with the vet. Lucky me:( Well, at least I get to paarrrty after that! Oooo, I can't wait to see sweet little Mollie again. I'll have to tell you all about it tomorrow;)

I've been tagged!

I have been tagged to play this "sporty" game by Delilah Happy Girl!! Here's how it goes:

You caught the football pass, so here's the next "play" - hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your teammates so they can make a touch down. Write down 5 funny things about yourself. Also, please leave me a bone and ask those who visit your diary to leave you a bone so you will know they have been there! That's the "huddle"message, so let's line up and have some fun!!!

1. I rub my nose on the rug every time my mom makes the sneezing
noise, "choo".
2. I sniff every bite of my food before I'll eat it.
3. I use my paws to catch everything.
4. When I come in from outside, I want my feet wiped off.
5. I will eat my food off a fork.

Here's the list of the furiends I've tagged:
Morgan, MacKenzie, Ziggy, Teddy (the border collie) and Buddy.

I caught another pass!

I have been chosen by a pal of mine to catch a pass and score a touchdown. I did just that! Now I will call on 5 of my dogster pals to do the same. All you need to do is pick 5 of your furiends and tell them to go to your diary and read the entry and then they will know what to do. Also, you must list 5 things about yourself and you may or may not list who you are going to call upon. Have fun and keep it going!

1. I like the chewy type dog treats.
2. I really enjoy playing with my brofur, Riley.
3. My favorite place to visit is a farm near my home.
4. I don't like the water.
5. I don't mind having other pups or kitties visiting my home.

It's time to pawwwwty!

It's finally pawty day! I can't wait! It is so fun getting together with all my furiends! I have a date! Can you believe it? An old boy like me has a Valentine! She is adorable. You probably know her. It's the adorable little Smooch the Pooch. I'm such a lucky dawg! I hope I don't get all nervous and trip over my own paws! BOL!

I tell you, it is sooo hard to get mom to type my diary entries! She's always running to this group and that group. I'll tell ya! Mom! You've got to slow down and keep my diary updated! There is just so much to say!

We have had some beautiful weather here. I just love to be outside enjoying the sun when it's nice and cool. Can you believe we've actually had temps in the thirty degree range this year? What's up with that??? We came to FL to get out of the cold! My favorite days are between 60 and 80. I could stay out forever on those days.

Well, I'd better go and start getting ready for the party. So much to do. In fact, I'm even going to get a bath! Oooh, I hate baths!!! But I'll do it for Smooch. Just wait until you see me in my tux! Check back later!

I can't believe my eyes!!!

OMD!!! I can't believe my eyes! When I looked at my page today I found a dozen beautiful roses...and get this...they are from a secret admirer!!! Yep, that's what I said, a secret admirer! Who would have ever thought that an old pup like me could have a secret admirer? After all, there are sooo many younger, good looking, stronger pups than me out there. Ooo, I wish I knew who it was. They said that I know them and I've talked to them many times... wow, that could be a lot of pups. You know I can't keep my mouth shut. I'm always talking! BOL! I guess I'll just have to wait for more clues. Ooo, such fun! Thank you for the flowers, secret admirer whoever you are!

One the home front, we met a new pup today, hoping that she would be a good addition to our family. Her name is Belle and she's a rat terrier. As it turned out, there was no match there. She wasn't interested in us, and we weren't interested in her. She never even went to mom for a pat on the head or anything. She just didn't seem very warm or furiendly at all. They brought her to our house and when they arrived they had two dogs. We were surprised because we only thought one was coming. The other pup was for another adopter in our area so she was making two trips in one. He was an adorable black pug. He was way more furiendly and we had more fun with him while they were here, but he already had a home waiting. So anyway...Belle continues her search for a new home, and we will just continue to take our time and keep meeting pups until we find one that wants to be with us as much as we want to give them a home.

I love a good game of tag!

I was tagged by my good furiend Gucci a couple of days ago. I finally got the chance to play! Many of you are already familiar with our tag games, but just in case your not...you have to answer the questions below and tag 6 furiends to play next.

Ok, here I go!

What is your favorite color for Easter eggs?
Blue

Would you rather be a bunny or a chick?
Bunny, they are adorable. Chickens have twiggy legs! BOL!

How many Easter eggs do you think you'll find when you get to hunt them at your house?
It depends on what yummy scent, if any, that mom rubs on them.

What kind of Easter basket are you hoping for?
I would love one with a bunch of yummy dog treats for me and my brofur, and it would be great if it had some chocolate for mom!

The friends I am tagging are......

Millie
Shooter
Peanut
Smooch the Pooch
Little Teddy
Tessy

Another year with a big thumbs up!

It was that time again. The dreaded yearly checkup and shots. My dawg! They make you feel like a pin cushion! Then all the pushing and poking and squeezing, sheesh! Well, I got thru it ok, everything looks 100%. Hooray! That says a lot for a 15 year old. He didn't even complain about my weight! He drew some blood too and we're just waiting for those results to come back. He did find that my gums are infected again for some reason. They cleared up after the teeth were cleaned, but now there's an infection again. Now I have pills I have to take twice a day. I hope they don't think I like that idea! Oh well, I guess there's some pitfalls to getting old. The vet told mom that after I'm finished with these pills, he wants her to refill the prescription once a month to keep the infection from coming back. He said if I would let her rinse my gums with antibacterial doggy mouthwash then I won't have to take those pills. I'll just have to think about that! That would me I have to be cooperative...hmmm...we'll see. So I hope that's all I need to see the vet for this year. He's a good man, but the less I see of him, the better.

A very special game of tag.

I received the most wonderful game of tag I've ever seen today. It came from our furiend Gucci. Now I'm going to pass it on to my special furiends and let them know how much I care about them. Thank you Gucci, my good furiend! All you need to do is pass it on to those you consider to be furiends. It might have ended up being a bit difficult for those of you with multiple pups so we picked one in the family and ask that you share the message and the sentiment with all your fublings.
