I love to bug my big brother, Cowboy. I also love to chase and bark at birds, especially the big scary looking ravens. I like waking up early and giving lots of kisses! I'm a big fan of chewing on anything I can get my teeth on- even people's toesies!

I don't like birds in my yard! And I don't like getting brushed or baths!

Favorite Toy:
Anything Cowboy is currently playing with or anything that is soft & squeaky & chewable.

Favorite Food:
numm numm numm. My new mommy is feeding me Canidae ALS and I love it! I try to take Cowboy's share too!

Favorite Walk:
I like walking around the neighborhood with mommy in the morning.

Best Tricks:
I'm a puppy still. I don't know too many tricks yet. But I've got hops! I can jump really high with my long, skinny legs. And I know when it's 6am everyday- like clockwork.

Arrival Story:
I started off being born in the home of a backyard breeder. For some reason, they didn't want me so they brought me over to their neighbor who runs a rescue organization. That's how I ended up being part of the Wee Bar None Ranch in Apple Valley. I've been waiting for a forever home for about 2 months now. First I was being fostered by an Australian lady but she had to fly back to Australia all of a sudden to take care of her sick mom so back to the ranch I went. My new Mommy & Daddy came to meet me over the weekend and I guess I must have put on a good show because they called back later that day to tell the rescuers that they wanted me to become part of their family and to live with them! Yipppeeee! I have an older brother now too. At the ranch, I had 33 doggy brothers & sisters! Most of them much bigger than me. Cowboy doesn't really want to share his toys with me yet though but hopefully he'll warm up to me soon. I think I'm going to love it here. There's grass in the backyard! And there's a doggy door that I already know how to use (I'm smart, huh?). And the best part yet, they have LOTS of toys. I just have to figure out how to get them away from Cowboy...

Will update more as my Mommy & Daddy get to know me better. It's my first day after all.

Think I could be the new face of Bissell?

Please vote for me, Theo! And spread the word to all your friends if you could. Wouldn't my face look awesome on the front of Bissell's products? And Mommy says we could REALLY use one of those powerful steam cleaners for the carpet. Our house welcomes 4 legged visitors and our carpet is the perfect color to hide unwanted stains but that only means we can't see it! The dogs certainly can smell it and it's like a vicious cycle!

BUT, the very best part of this is that it's for a great cause- part of the prize is a $10,000 donation to pet cause of our choice.

I was adopted from a local rescue organization called Wee Bar None Ranch that is run by this lovely older couple. They house unwanted, abandoned animals at their own home until they are able to find suitable forever homes for them - dogs, cats, geese, horses, etc... It's completely staffed by unpaid volunteers and the work they do is amazing. Seriously, how many people could open up their home to 30+ dogs at a time? And their adoption fees are so low compared to other rescues- we're talking $125 vs some rescues charging upwards of $300. The animals are all spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots. My parents came to meet me at the ranch and the dogs they saw were happy and playful and so grateful to have people care for them. I know $10,000 would help them immensely in the work that they do especially in these times of economic hardship when it's more difficult for people to donate to the cause. Please check out their website.

long time no bark!

Woweeee! We've been busy over here! Haven't had a chance to update in a very very long time. Well let's see what's been going on in my yard- I've been getting better about not attacking Cowboy out of the blue or being as obsessed with watching birds through the windows. Although my new favorite thing to do is to run up the retaining wall to the wall in the back that separates us and the house behind us. They have 4 white dogs over there. And I can always hear them and smell them back there! So I like going to the corner of the wall where they all huddle and we bark up a storm together- like a doggy choir! Yeah! I think we sound great. Mom & Dad think otherwise. I get all crazy excited too- I jump up and down real high.

I also experienced my first snowfall here! It snowed all day and covered the yard in inches of cold white stuff! At first I didn't like it. It was soooo cold! But then Mommy put me in a sweater and we all went outside to play in the snow and I got the hang of it. Just have to shake off the white stuff and lick it off my paws when I get back inside. It only lasted a few days though and now it's back to being sunny again.

Had a lot of people over at the house for Thanksgiving. It was some of the extended family's first time meeting me. I was quite the charmer. People kept saying how cute I was. I was on pretty good behavior too. They were calling Mommy a liar for saying that I could be a spaz. :) I can be good when I want to!

Then we went to Bakersfield for Christmas Eve. I got carsick. blech. Mom says she wishes I would ride like Barney used to- apparently he was a very good car rider even though he got carsick. He would just sleep the whole way. Me, I have to stand up and look out, and move around as much as I can, and I try to choke myself with my doggy seatbelt. Mom says if I would just lay down and look frontwards, I wouldn't get carsick. I don't believe her though.

I did get to meet a few other doggy cousins (big ones - a husky/shepherd mix and 2 big chows) at Grandma & Grandpa 2's house. None of them liked me. But I hear they don't like other dogs in general. They'd like to eat us is more like it! But Grandma 2 kept sneaking snacks to me and Cowboy so I was super happy! I've put on a little weight- I'm not so skinny anymore. I'm just right.

Next morning, we drove to Placentia to visit Grandma & Grandpa 1 for Christmas Day. Charlie & Tara were misbehaving and there were a lot of little kids there so we got relegated to the bedrooom upstairs! I was none too happy about it and let everyone know it by barking and whining for hours. Yeah, I'm relentless. But we got to stay a couple days afterwards to just hang out with Grandma & Grandpa so that was fun.

Now we're back on schedule again. Mom says she may try to take me running- she made something called a "new year's resolution" to lose weight this year before they go to Hawaii in September. She's afraid I'll try to race her though rather than run alongside her. We're taking walks later in the morning now because there have been coyote sightings in the neighborhood. Mom gets scared that we'll run into one during a walk and that it'll turn into one big nightmare.

Hope every dog had a great holiday season and a happy new year!

Long time no bark!

Well, actually, I bark all the time but I'm getting better about it in the house at least! :) I think that makes Mama very happy. I graduated from obedience training- top of my class. Technically, I was the only official dog enrolled in the class (a young shepherd puppy would stay into my class from the puppy class) but I performed pretty well if I do say so myself. But mama says I still need to learn how to practice all of those skills in the real world. I'm not quite as reliable as I should be. Who wants to be reliable & predictable? I'm wild & spontaneous! You're only young once!

I have found a new favorite person- mama's daddy aka GRANDPA! He's wonderful! He always has a treat for me at anytime during the day. All the other dogs follow him around too so I figured I should. When it was time for bed, I didn't want to sleep with Mama & Cowboy so I followed Grandpa and slept at his feet that night. Mommy said I hurt her feelings though but I figure I only get to see Grandpa & Grandma a couple of times a month at the most! I need to take advantage of the time I do get to spend with him. And their house is like a treasure trove! Every night when everyone's asleep, I sneak downstairs and look for food that I can pull off the counter or tables. hehe. So far I've been successful in opening up a bag of potato chips, honey roasted peanuts, and cheese crackers. YUM! Sometimes a dog just needs a midnight snack. And Grandma is so nice, when she's eating dinner, she'll leave her plate of food where I can get a taste of it whenever she gets up to get something else or do something.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about my first grooming experience! I was pretty good most of the time during the process. They brought a van to the house and parked it in the driveway and were working on both me and Cowboy at the same time. But then they brought out the hair dryer and pointed at me and I don't know what came over me, I just went nuts! I thought they were trying to kill me or something! I had to fight for my life so I swatted my freshly clipped nails at their midsection and lunged for their necks. They ended up charging Mama an extra $5 for me because I was so aggressive they said. Phooey.

But the next week, I got sick - had a fever and was much more mellow than usual. Mama was worried so they took me to the vet where I was the most perfect boy ever. Mama was worried I would be a nightmare since I wasn't so good with the groomer but everyone commented on how wonderfully behaved I was- the vet, the technician, mommy & daddy. I had my temperature taken twice, I was poked & prodded, and had my blood drawn but I gave them no trouble. The tech even gave me a gift when we were all done because he said I was so good- it was a special puppy pack from Science Diet (mommy says I don't eat that stuff but maybe we can donate the bag of food to someone who needs it). See, I can be good when I want to be. :)
