Birthday: December 21st 2006 Likes: Being with his family, Fling, treats, going to the dog park or anywhere Pet-Peeves: The cats giving him the eye, being outside without humans, Coco growling at him Favorite Toy: Fling! If she's not available he likes the hide-a-toy squeaky squirrels and the duckie from Cherry and Rusty Favorite Food: He's eating Orijen mixed with Kirkland, but he likes everything we've given him- he also LOVES grass... Favorite Walk: Clear Creek trail, through the forest at the Navy base, hiking Green Mountain with daddy...anywhere that's not too crowded Best Tricks: He finally learned to sit and lie down- that's about it Arrival Story: We started looking for a cattle dog to be "Daddy's dog" a little over a month ago. We found this handsome boy in Georgia. When we learned Cali had cancer, we canceled having him shipped. He was still available after Cali went to the Bridge and we decided to add him to our pack. We know we can never replace Cali, Ringo or any of our beloved pets, but our house was feeling very empty... Bio: Roper has never lived with kids, so we're about to find out what a great herding dog he really is!
Wow- Roper just stepped right in and loves us all- our cat Turtle puffs up when she sees him, but he is sure sweet to all of us. He's going to get lots more playful soon- this boy has tons of energy and his tail never stops wagging his whole body sideways! Forums Motto: Nips, licks and tail wags- look out! Wow- this diary hasn't been updated for such a long time.
After Levi died, I started to really try to control Fling. She barks at everything, and I bit her on the ears to try to get her to stop. Well, apparently that wasn't very fun for Fling and she kept bleeding and stuff...my family decided it would be best for all of us if they could find me a new loving home where I'd get all the attention.
They found me an awesome place to live- I have 2 young, active humans and my very own fenced yard. I live near the mountains that I LOVE to hike, and I've even gotten to go boating! I hear that Fling has calmed down and relaxed quite a bit, too.
My breeder has been so supportive through all of this. She offered to take me back, but she would rather I get to stay here in WA and save my family all the shipping fees. My boy and my daddy took me to meet my new peeps, and they said that I am in great hands. Now I get to spend the next 10 years being the special boy I always knew I could be!
Have I really been here 2 1/2 years already? Today is my 4th woofday and I arrived when I was only a strapping 18 month old!
Today mama gave me some extra yummy treats and took me and my brothers on a walk in the forest. That's not really unusual, except that all THREE of us boys hardly ever go all together. Levi was happy that he got to do his own thing while Tonka and I ran ahead :)
This year, my boy started taking Gypsy as his 4H dog, then decided that I am much smarter than her... the 4H leader agrees that me and my boy are an awesome team. We should be able to go to the county fair this year- Tonka will go with his boy, too.
Things here are pretty much the same- Fling and I eat in our kennels now, so the food fights have disappeared. I still have tummy issues and I still have WAY too much energy for 10 dogs, but it looks like I'll be hanging around here for another decade or so.
Thank you for the woofday wishes! We hope all of our pals have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy 2011.
But everyone always tags my brother Levi.
Marlon tagged Levi, and we're both cattle dogs, so I think that's fair:
1. Do you ever wake your parent up in the night?
YES, I am the most crazy, restless dog ever- and I thump my tail on the bed and stare at them all night hoping they will wake up to play with me! I don't know why they need ANY sleep. I don't!
2. Do you ever tear up things?
Uh, YES! If you put in in my kennel, it's history. And if it's an important kid toy that has any food smell, gone. Oh, yeah- all stuffies are for shredding, too.
3. What is your favorite treat?
It's hard to choose- I eat them all. But I love raw soup bones.
4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?
Yes, but not tennis balls or frisbees. I only like to play fetch in the house with small destuffed stuffies :)
5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?
Yup, I lived with my breeder near Atlanta, GA- and with my prior owner in South Carolina.
