One Year Anniversary with my new Mom!

It's been a whole year since coming to live with my new mom in Rockport, Massachusetts. We're a team, she and I!

The good news....other dogs are not so scary to me. The not so good news is that as soon as I start playing with another dog, I jump 'em to be sure things don't get out of hand. So mom keeps me on a long leash so she can pull me away just in time.

Mom isn't working and is not so happy about that, but the other good news is that we get to go to the beach EVERY day. I like my little local beach. To vary our routine, we sometimes go for a hike at the state park or local quarries. But I like the beach cause I can see just who is around and I can runnnnnnnn!

Our old cat Squeaky has her own room now, line in blue plastic tarp. Even though she has 2 litter boxes, she pees all over. Then she circles the room over and over. It makes me dizzy! It also messes up the floor. Mom says it's a mess, but as long as Squeaky doesn't seem to mind, keeps eating and purring, she'll stick around.

Well, until our next entry, have a happy fall! We are going to dress up tonight to greet the Halloween Trick or Treaters.

Life Progresses Nicely...I like it here

Yes, It has been a long time. And I've been with my #2 mom for over 9 months now...It's been a rocky road, but we are pretty well bonded. It gets better and better. Mom lives to entertain me!

I like Squeaky, the old cat who use to be feral, but forgot and now is very friendly. She can't see very well, but I make sure she knows I'm around by kissing her often. I poke her a lot too.I poke everyone! Maybe that's why mom sometimes calls me POKEY.

Mom is a worry wart! She thinks I must miss my old pals, but I hardly ever think about them any more. I'm sure if they materialized, I'd be very happy to see them....and especially my #1 mom. Something would be wrong if I were not happy to see them all! Mom (#2) thinks I miss running and playing with another dog. I guess it would be fun to be chased...and never get caught, cause I run like the wind! And I can chase any dog down.

Well, I hear mom #1 and mom #2 talking about getting me a playmate. And my daughter just happened to produce a few cuties, one of which may come to live with me....maybe. If mom is a softy and goes with her heart, a little boy may arrive. If she thinks and analyzes about it, she may decide it's too much for her to handle...it's not only a puppy, but a deaf one!

My grandson and I could probably get along and eventually play and run around together when he gets a little older, as soon as I teach him exactly who is the Queen Bee Boss around here....ME!

If he does come here, we will surely share pictures and new diaries with everyone!

Until then, mom needs to give me a bath now and I'll feel SOOOO good and refreshed!

Surprise Visitors!

Last Saturday, all the way from New Hampshire, my old pack of best friends and family came to visit me! Toto and Beanie and my 'old' (no offense, mom) Mom with one of my best human friends, Skye met us on Long Beach in Rockport. My new and forever mom had been telling me there was a special surprise heading our way. I was soooo excited to see them all that I ran for JOY! We ran and played on the beach for a long time until 'new mom' and I had to go open our store. But at the store, my best buddies came for visits, took me for a walk and I sat on the bench with 'old mom.' We even all slept together that night, even though 'new mom' got a little lonely and insulted. But, she realized this was a special occasion. We also celebrated Beanie and Toto's birthday a little early. It was great to have them visit. I wish Toto would come live here with me, so I can have the best of all worlds, but Skye would miss him too much. I missed them all when they had to leave and I looked for them everywhere for 2 days....outside the store, all around my house, at every car following us, everywhere! I couldn't find them anywhere! It broke my new mom's heart to see me miss all the others so much. But after a few days, I forgot what I was looking for, 'cause mom showered me with so much love and goodies that we are closer then ever! There is no better place for me, even though I loved seeing my old family. What a great surprise that was! Mom must really love me to let me spend time with them. Yes, she really loves me more then ever.

Happy New Year from My New Home

Not even 10 weeks at my new home. My new mom and I are still working on our new lives together...bonding, training and running our doggie store together. It is taking time. I still have a lot to learn. The store welcomes good dogs, but most dogs seem to bother me. I find little dogs annoying and big dogs threatening, so I am not considered so good when I bite their noses. The dogs and their parents don't think much of my nose nipping habits, except for one who has scars to show for it. But mom is concerned that there will be a big 'ol dog some day that decides to bite my nose off in return! Many frequent visitors don't come around much any more, They don't want to upset me....not great for business. We had sessions with the experts. They say not to push me into anything I don't want to do. Mom and I are starting a basic obedience class next week, even though I am so well trained, just to help me feel more comfortable around other dogs. It isn't easy and I get yelled at every time I rush out barking to nip a nose. We hope to work it out so mom doesn't have to close her doggie store. We are having so much fun playing on the beach when there are no other dogs around and playing in the snow anywhere! Life is settling into days of fun, treats and looking out for them big mean 'ol dogs. Funny though, where treats are concerned, I'll do ANYTHING!!! Hope to have more encouraging news on big dog progress next time...So, until then,,,,,,,,,,,,HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Jenny, sometimes called Jenny~Mae says, "Life is good...getting better and better with my new mom in Rockport, Mass." Jenny is so much fun and such a little rascal. She is demonstrating just how good she can be, and so well trained, too! Jenny is looking forward to going with mom to training classes. She just wants to show off! And her new mom wants to show Jenny off!!!

Jenny is meeting all sort of dogs in Rockport. After all, she's the new mascot/owner/queen bee of the Good Dog! Gallery! "And there are so many BIG dogs for me to bark at! But after a while, I relax and see they are pretty mellow. Just wait until our Santa Paws event! Every dog in town and beyond will be here to meet me, while having their pictures taken on Santa's lap. I'm sure I will get in on a picture, too. I will be sure to post it for everyone on Dogster.com.

Happy leaf chasing!!!!

We've come a long way, baby!

In the past 4 days since coming to live here in Rockport, Mass, I've learned that lots of people come in to "MY" store, just too many to bark at them ALL! So now I only bark at big dogs. I show them! But when a little dog comes in, I get to bounce around and play. And inbetween, I bounce my squeaky frog around. If I can't have the real thing, this will do for now.

I like running on the beaches and mark every clump of seaweed. But I don't pay any attention to the ocean or those big waves.

I'll say one thing for sure...my new mom does everything she can to keep me amused, safe and happy. We are bonding!

After a long day at the store and then an evening of Halloween trick or treaters, I'll sleep well tonight.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

First Morning with my New Family

I slept with my new mom through the night. Every time the cat, Squeaky jumped up for a snack, she came to me with her fish breath!!!! How tempting, but I resisted. I got the picture right away... that cat food spot was a NO NO for me. In fact, mom set down 4 rules....1)Be nice to the cat 2)Don't eat the cat's food 3) or Poop! 4) Stay close to mom and listen to her, and everything will be just fine.

Mom has a half dozen nicknames for me! JJ Jenny, Jen Jen, Black Beauty and all the usuals...Pumpkin, Sweet Pea, Darlin'...

I can't wait to run on the beach, but it might have to wait til tomorrow since it's so rainy today. So I'm stuck inside on my first day in Rockport, Massachusetts and I can't quite get the cat to play.

Today, Tuesday, Oct. 27, I am enjoying my first hours with my new gal Jenny at her new home. What a playful, well adjusted, well trained obedient little pumpkin! I love her! And she has been perfect and gentle with my old cat, Squeaky.

It has been a long day. It's almost time to snuggle up with my new girl and go to sleep early.....after one more outing on this drizzly evening.

Could it be that Jenny likes watching TV? hmmmm. Jenny says to change the station! Dancing with the Stars is on! I think Jenny is saying, "Pretty nice here." And hope she adjusts well and doesn't miss her original mom too much.

From Jenny's old Mom....
Jenny, you will be missed lots and lots, but remember, we all still love you!!! Without you, I never would have discovered the wonder of poodles and I will forever thank you for that!!! I hope you will remember your p's and q's and do us proud down in MA. You have BIG boots to fill down there... Samba was one of a kind and I missed her as much as I will miss you when she left here about 8 years ago! But, she was a wonderful ambassador for our labs for many years down in Ma., and hopefully you will do the same for the poodles!!!! I am confident that you know how to behave and won't embarass me or yourself! Remember, be gentle to everyone and they will treat you gently as well.
Don't forget to keep up your diary, and please, don't eat too much!!!!
Love,
Your Mom and Toto and Beanie and Ali and Tyson
