We've had Duke for 5 years now. When my husband started working at a new job, Duke was part of the bargain.. he was found on the highway a few years back, abandoned, but now has a home where he's lord of the manor! And he's happy to show you his love! He's the Lord of the Manor, and will prove it to you. He's the Leader.

Duke is a stubborn mule who's gotten to "voicing" his opinions. He's gotten cranky in his old age, but he still likes to please. He doesn't growl, but he grunts. If he was human, I would picture an old grumpy man, sitting on the porch in his rocker, smoking on a corn cob pipe. he has to prove that he's the Leader. When we all go for walks, he will bark at the younger one , as if to tell him that he's the leader. Remind me of a Walt disney movie where the old dog tells the younger one, in a cranky voice "I'm the Leader." Gotta love him! :)
