Favorite Food: You could say we are on a d-i-e-t, so 1/2 of a meaty bone is a treat.

Arrival Story: We found Punkin on the ACES (Another Chance for English Setters)website. After reading her bio and speaking to her foster mom we felt she was the girl for us. The only thing holding us back was waiting for her to be "cat tested." She passed her cat test, and we drove down to Virginia on Valentine's Day to pick our southern girl up. After a six hour drive (traffic and pit stops) we finally made it home. There were many adjustments to be made. Punkin was petrified of the cats. She actually trembled when she saw them or when they attempted to approach. The wood floors were another challenge, so we put down carpet runners just so she could get around. Stairs were another. She gobbled every drop of food in her dish and drank the last drop of water in her bowl (even after refilling it three times). At night she glued herself on the couch and snarled, she seemed sure we were going to put her out. The saddest sight was her tail, constantly tucked between her legs.
Update: Punkin is doing fantastic!! She is lovin' her feline friends, Pushkin, Cosette, and Zowie (well maybe not Zowie). Carpet runners have been taken up and the going down a flight of stairs is a breeze and going up a little more work is needed. She is becoming a selective eater and puts her nose up at some offerings she may need to diet in the near future, and her water bowl is always full. We cuddle at night on the couch and the snarling face is gone. Her tail has feathered and the best...its wagging and held high ! We look foward to Punkin growing more confident and secure in the days to come.
Bio: Punkin had wandered onto a kind woman's property in SC, starving. The woman called ACES and they arranged to come and pick her up. When they got there they found more than they bargained for, for on that day, November 19, Punkin gave birth to nine puppies. After being a good mom to her babies, Punkin went to her foster home in North Carolina. She was very thin, had skin allergies, and had been treated harshly prior to being rescued. We adopted Punkin on February 14th and she is the love of our lives.
