Rosie

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!

From Rosie's Mom's FB Page:

So, the adventures of Rosie...she's safe at home with me, hungry and thirsty but otherwise fine. She's curled on my feet about to pass out. Somehow she made her way to Upper Arlington, got tired and sat down in someone's drive way. They called the UA AC, she came out and rescued her

How crazy is this?

Thanks to my pal Tiberius, my mom realized that I am short on miss porky chews. (Ty's mom just ordered them some bully stix and it made my mom remember that I haven't had a pigs ear in weeks :(. So....she went online and ordered me these. Woo-Hoo!!!! Mom said we have had to "tighten our belts" to save up for my lakehouse but as long as she knows that it's her belt that needs to be tightened and not mine, we're good.

So....mom ordered me this

Mom is going to Beaver Mountain today to look at log cabins. We are so excited. I had a great weekend filled with lots of playtime so I am ok to hang out and rest today. I have lots of new pics on my page from the weekend but this one is my favorite. It clearly shows that I am the alpha in this family :)

AROOOOOooooooooooooooo

I am better than the computer!

October 30th 2009 9:00 am
[ Leave A Comment | 7 people already have ]

Usually on Thursdays after work, mom has a few hours to herself and likes to play (uninterrupted) on the computer. The past THREE weeks, mom has gotten home from work, put on sweats and sneakers and has taken me to the park! You should see the look on my face when she starts to put her sneakers on. I give her the biggest Sunny Smile you can imagine and it makes her laugh and she says "yes, I'm taking you to the park". I just can't believe it! I can't believe she is choosing ME and the park over sitting her fat ass in the computer chair for hours on end.

So....yesterday we got to the park around 5:15
We immediately saw my labby pal Cricket and his mom. It was Cricket's birthday! She was ONE year old! Mom gave her a milk bone and said "Happy Birthday". Then she turned to her mom and said "have you ever heard of dogster?" Hehe. They started talking about dogster and mom said "the reason I thought about it is because Sunny has so many friends on dogster and when they have a birthday, I wish I could give them a real bone and kiss but all we can do is send a virtual bone and kiss. It sure is nice to have a live doggy to give a birthday bone and love". Cricket is such a sweetie. She is a leaner. she sits and leans against legs until she gets as much pets and love as she can. I'm not like that. Mom thinks it's adorable. I say whatevah.

Cricket and I walked a while and then we bumped into Maggie. She is Zaidie!! She is the cutest Westie in the world (other than Zaidie!) The inside of her ears are pink and it makes my mom go crazy! I started to play a little rough with Maggie and she liked it! She stood up to me and we chased eachother around in the leaves. I liked to bop her butt with my nose. Mom was a little nervous but Maggie's mom kept saying "they're fine. She can hold her own". Later, I went down to the creek and when I was running back to mom, Maggie charged me and her mom said "see...she started it" and we got to play some more. I love that dog!

Then, we found Eva, Chloe, Bogie and Russell. We all walked together. I had sooooooo much fun! We stayed until the lights came on the path; it was that late.

We got home and mom plopped down in the computer chair. Oh well...progress not perfection, right? :)

Dreeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaming!!!!!!!

THIS is the latest dream my mom has for my lakehouse. She is going to meet with the people at Beaver Mountain Log Homes on Monday. The peeps met with a builder recommended by the log home people and he came to our lot and said he definitely thinks we can make this happen for what the peeps want to spend. Isn't it awesome? A car that fails to make "that sound" when you finally bring it in to be checked. Yep. I went to the dogtor. I jumped up on the table by myself (almost). I smiled at him. We chatted. He listened to my chest. He palpated my trachea. I didn't make a sound. Not a snort. Not a sniffle. Nada. He asked how I feel overall. "Fine", I told him. My temp was normal (yes...it went up my bummy). Finally, they let me off the table and I did a trick for him (I can spin around). "There" mom said. I sneezed. Dogtor saw it. "Hmmm"...he said. "Panting made her sneeze". "What does that mean"? Mom said. "Don't know" Dogtor said. "Probably nothing". So....here's his advice:

1) Lay off the chew toys. Maybe something irritated my pharynx (boo...don't like that suggestion)
2) Antihistamine as needed for symptoms.
3) Call him on Friday and let him know if my phantom snorting is better...BOL!

THANK YOU FOR ALL MY WELL WISHES AND POTP....OBVIOUSLY IT WORKED BECAUSE I WAS BETTER BEFORE I WENT TO THE DOGTOR! HEHE...

Mom took me to Cornell yesterday for my eye recheck. My app't was at 11:30 am. At 1:30 pm, we got called back. I had fun in the waiting room trying to play with every dog who walked by. Mom, on the other hand, was a little irritated by 1:30. But...I finally got to see the doctors and they said that my pigment changes were stable and showed no sign of growth. Therefore, they can assume that it is benign and no follow up needs to be done. As for my juvenile cataract, it may impede my vision a little; especially on bright sunny days. If it matures and becomes a problem, we can remove it. But for now...I have graduated from Cornell and don't need to go back except for homecoming, football games and frat parties. [ Leave A Comment | 4 people already have ]

I have agility tonight. I love it! I have developed a new "faux pas" however and that would be peeing on the dirt floor of the barn. I am the only doggy in class who does this. Sometimes I just squat and pee. Last week I stopped in the middle of my agility run and peed. Mom is mortified. My teacher is not amused and says if I do that in a real trial, I will be disqualified. Mom takes me to go potty right before we go in the barn. "What's up with that", she asks me? Unfortunately, I really have no answer for her. SO.....here's my new song that mom sang to me today:

"Now teacher don't you fill me up with your rule...cause every puppy knows that peeing ain't allowed in school"

So........after busting butt for the past 2 months trying to get my house built by the cold weather, mom finally got the call that said "the appraisal went through; you can proceed". Mom calls general contractor who says "it's getting late. I think we'll wait til Spring". Hmph. Mom hangs up. Is disappointed but then about 5 minutes later, the disappointment turns to mild relief. The peeps talk. "Since we are waiting til spring now; is this the house we really want to build? It seemed so rushed and we never really had time to think. Now we do. Do we really want a modular home? (no offense to any modular owners out there but mom is quite a nature girl and has always wanted to stick build or...better yet....put up a log cabin kit). They agree; they were "settling" and why? They were in no rush. They decided to rethink things (P.S...as mom told Flicka's mom, she "hates thinking" so this is a challenge to not just say "do whatever's easiest") and are going to visit a log cabin expo this weekend. I say "whatevah"...as long as I have a place to eat, sleep and play, I'm good. Mom also feels really bad about maybe having to tell the contractor who has been so nice to them that they may be doing a different project and might not be working with him. Ugh. I tell her he'll survive without this job but she still feels bad. Like I said yesterday, I'm glad I'm a dog :)

Woof.

P.S...Still no word from Louie!! Did the new puppy kill his mother??

My life: Sleep with mom (make her contort her body in all sorts of ways since I am sprawled out across the bed), wake up, Hap Hap Happy dance all around the house. Find a chew toy, wake up mom, go pee, eat breakfast, go poop, annoy the cats, get some treats, hang out all day either alone in my basement (don't like that much) OR if it's a weekend play, go for walks, go to the lake, go to the park, etc... Eat dinner, pee, poop, relax, chew on something, go to bed.

Repeat...

Sounds fun, doesn't it?

Mom (human's) life: wake up with a sore back from sleeping like a contortionist all night, let dog pee, let cat out, feed cat, feed other cat, feed dog, make coffee, give cats and dog fresh water, get dressed, go to work (or, if it's the weekend...take dog to the park, lake, for a walk, etc...) eat, watch some TV or play on computer, wait for cat to come home, let dog out to pee, go to bed.

Repeat...

You know, I'm getting a little tired of my mother using MY FRIENDS to figure out things about her and her stupid little lakehouse. Just because MY FRIENDS are smart and experienced and talented doesn't mean that she has to ask tyou all for advice but she insists. So...here goes (By the way, thanks for all the great advice on foundation vs. pre-cast basements. We are going with the block wall foundation and mom will cry when it leaks...BOL!)

Mom wants to know about Soffits, Fascia and Siding color schemes. The siding will be a natural clay (like Khaki). The windows and fascia will be "Wicker" which is a lighter tan. Should the soffits match the siding or the fascia and windows? The only place you will actually SEE the soffits is on the roof of the front porch. Should it match the siding (darker) or the trim (lighter)? GAH!

This is a drawing of the house minus any color

This is a great website mom found that shows different colors and mostly it looks like the soffits match the siding

OK...that's all for now. Now, who wants to go back to talking about gross things? MEEEEE!!!!!!!!

If you like it then you shoulda put a collar on it :)

Generally, my peeps listen to country music but thanks to the new TV show, Glee, they have become more familiar with some hip and dance music. Ever since last week, mom has been humming "if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it"....(pretty funny if you really know my mom) and then at work, she saw a video of a baby dancing to that video which, if you haven't seen, you should pull up on youtube. Anyhow, this morning, mom was humming as she put my collar on me and then...as she so frequently does...she changed the words and made it a song about dog safety :) She is nuts but I love her!

P.S..Mom says "the collar is good but make sure there are ID tags too! :)

Last night, mom took me to my lake. As we headed out for our walk, I encountered "Irish"...an adorable black and white cat who I had met once before briefly while surveying my lot. Irish was hanging out in a culvert on the top of the road and our noses met. He didn't hiss or anything. I thought to myself "I like that boy" but that was it. It was brief. It was nice. So...last night mom and I bumped into Irish again. He strolled up to me and rubbed my face with his. Then he dropped to his back and lay there...belly up for me to sniff. I sniffed his belly. I put my nose in his ears. I sniffed his butt. He rubbed me some more. Mom was in shock. She said "I've never seen a dog friendly cat before". It truly was a beautiful sight. I mean, I am cat friendly and this cat was dog friendly. It was like we were a match made in heaven. Finally, I started to get a little rambunctious and when I started play bowing to Irish, mom decided we should get on with our walk before I ruined a good thing and turned Irish into a dog hating, dog fearing cat. We are going to be neighbors so mom would rather we stay pals. Anyhow...here's the part I don't understand...

We got home and I saw Moon. "HI"...I said as I ran up to Moon to sniff his belly, his ears, his butt and have him rub his face on mine. Guess what I got instead? A hiss, a swat and a "are you crazy" stare. WTK (what the kibble?)

Bean is our little hunter. Moon is an indoor cat who likes to stroll around the yard and pretend he knows how to hunt but really, he doesn't. This morning, I was sitting in my kitchen looking out at Moon and all the sudden, he had a mouse. I couldn't believe it. I made monkey noises at the door which Moon understood as "OMD! I can't believe you got him. Let me come help you play with it" Mom was torn. She was happy for Moon that he had a real life mousie to play with but she felt bad for the little mousie too. So...she compromised. She let him play with it for one minute and then she went out and rescued it. Moon was perturbed. I found the whole thing very exciting and when Moon came in, I was sure to sniff his face and good!

Another goodie...

Thank you to all my wonderful pals who sent me notes and rosettes for being a diary pick of the day. THANK YOU! You guys make dogster sooo much fun. My pal Zaidie wrote that he is glad that I got my middle name back cause it is so much fun to say Sunny Weeeeee!!!!! That made me laugh and it made me wonder how many of my pals don't know WHY my neurotic mom removed my middle name for 3 weeks. I know we told Izzy and Ella and Louie but I think ALL of my pals should know how truly crazy my mom is...BOL! Here is the pmail I sent to Ella when she asked why I dropped the Lee:

Why did mom remove the Lee temporarily? Because she is nuts I tell you! Mom said I was the only "Sunny Lee" on dogster and while I was having my DNA testing done, she didn't want me to be that easily identifiable because what if the "DNA people" saw my picture? Would that affect my results? BOL! Mom says she is not really a paranoid schizophrenic...she just "thinks a lot" and sometimes she acts on her crazy thoughts. Now that my DNA test results are in and I am clearly a Pomeranian/Papillon mix, my name can be restored to Sunny Lee. It is fairly obvious that they did NOT use my picture to determine their results. BOL!!!!!

Hehe. Sorry Mom but my true friends won't judge me just because my mama is nuts :)

Mom's best friend from childhood came to visit us this weekend. They have 2 very nice girls who love me! The daddy in that family is super handy! He bought an "as-is" fixer upper years ago and turned it into one beauty of a house. Mom LOVES their bathroom. It has the beautiful framed tubby that mom likes, etc...

We are in the process of starting construction for my lakehouse. Mom asked if they could move closer to us and they would have a built in babysitter and mom could have a built in husband. BOL!!

Ever since my DNA results, mom has started calling me "boxer" and "boxer-face". She used to have a purebred Boxer named Baylee. Mom says I act "a lot" like Baylee. I do box. I am obsessed with my toys. I won't let her swim without climbing all over her. I play-growl when I play. I even have the "lee" in my name like Baylee. Guess it wasn't just Stryker who sent me to my mom.

20-36%Italian Greyhound
20-36% Papillon (hehe)
10-19% Boxer
10-19% Shetland Sheepdog
10-19% Pomerian (hehe)

No lab? Mom definitely sees boxer and Sheepdog in me. My brother Scuba came up as having Boxer and Italian Greyhound in him too! I definitely have an Italian appetite! So maybe these results are actually accurate?

My doggy mom has a boxer like underbite and I act like a boxer and have boxer ears so that one definitely fits. I also have a lot of herding tendencies so we like the Shetland Sheepdog too. Interestingly Shetlands are prone to cataracts, which I have. I also have that soft, thick fur!

Umm...I don't think anyone could have guessed this mutts make up correctly but we are going to take a peek at the guesses and see who was closest :)

August 21st 2009 12:10 pm

BASEMENTS!!!!

Mom here:

I am in the process of contracting to have a lakehouse built. Our contractor plans on doing the old "block wall" basement. I had kinda thought these were a thing of the past and that poured concrete, ICF or precast concrete walls were the way to go. He says he's been doing it this way for 25 years and has no experience with the others. So...if we stick with him, we will probably need to let him do what he's familiar with. OR...we could sub-contract that job but that could get sticky. OR...we could find a different contractor who has more expertise with the other types.

If any of your moms or dads would like to bark their opinion, it would be great!

Thanks,
Sunny (and Mom Deb)

1) Mom took me to Cornell yesterday. It was hot but I was a good girl. Many, many, many lights were shone in my eyes and many, many, many people looked in my eyes. They all agreed on what a beautiful and nice girl I am. Mom was very proud of me. The specialist says that the original reason that I came to Cornell; to have the lens irregularity looked at, is a juvenile cataract. He says it is probably not going to impede my vision but we should just watch it. BUT...he found another problem. I have irregular tissue growth at the edge of my iris (the brown part of my baby brown eyes). That might just be benign pigment change OR it could be melanoma. I do have it a little in the right eye too (which is good) but it is more so in the left. He wants to see it again in 2 months and if it has grown, then it is melanoma (cancer) and I will need surgery. If it hasn't changed, then it is just me. Mom feels pretty sure it will be unchanged and thus, benign, but if it is cancer we will deal with it.

2) I got an email from my DOG MOM (Betty/Biscuit). SHE IS COMING TO SEE ME!! She will be here on 8/24. I will get to take my mom swimming at my park and lake. I can't believe it! I am so excited I could just poo! I wish Louie could come too so he could meet her!

Here's what his mom told my mom:

"I did it from two different companies and got two totally different results for scuba,

One said min pin mix…… right……………….

The other said level three in this order, doberman,Italian greyhound, rottie, then level two was bichon and boxer!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t think so. I would love to hear your results"

Sunny here:

Now Granted, Scuba is the black and white one in my litter so we might have different fathers but those results are funny! Atleast if any of the breeds match, we can assume those are correct.

Stay tuned...this is exciting but mom is skeptical after hearing Scuba's results and Flicka and Lucas said "hogwash"...BOL!!

I got swabbed!!

August 7th 2009 6:39 am
[ Leave A Comment | 22 people already have ]

Despite the fact that Echo pointed out to me that my breed was 100% perfect and therefore no need to DNA test me; mom's curiosity still got the best of her and she ordered me a test. This morning, my cheek cells were violated as mom swabbed each side of my inner cheeks 2 times each (that's 4 swabbies!). I was a good girl but I looked at her quite suspiciously when she was done. Mom was surprised that the swabs were just long q-tips. Not brushy like swabs like the kind she uses to do pap smears. Mom is being all medical like and wondering how cotton swabs can collect cheek cells but I told her to relax...the DNA people must know what they are doing. So...my cheek cells got put in the mailing envelope and are currently sitting in our mailbox waiting to go to the LAB (BOL!) and we should have results in 3 weeks. Here is mom's best guess for me:

Lab
Australian Shepherd
Husky
Pit Bull
Anteater

HEY!!!!!!!!! Let's have a contest! Whoever guesses my makeup perfectly will win a big prize. Me and mom will figure out what the prize is once we know the winner (like we wouldn't want to send Ella bully stix cause those give her GAS).

OK PUPS....stay tuned :)

For those of you doggies wondering the status of my lakehouse, here's the pupdate:

Apparantly, there is a sewer line on our lot which is causing some delay in starting construction. We always knew there was a sewer line on our property but the deed says that it runs along the southerly border and shouldn't be a problem. Well...the deed may be wrong and the pipe may run smack through the property. Mom is trying to rectify (hehe) the problem and hopefully we will start building soon.

I HAD SO MUCH FUN I CAN'T EVEN STAND MYSELF!!!!

Mom took me up to my lake around 7pm. I swam, we walked. It was a normal time UNTIL we got to a beautiful log cabin on the lake and mom stopped to talk to the peeps that lived there. Mom knows her from the local college. Suddenly, a beautiful black lab named Layla came running up to me. Mom unclipped my leash and me and Layla PLAYED!!!!! We wrassled, rolled, ran, jumped, swam. It was great! Layla is only 2 months older than me and we are the same size. She was a perfect playmate!! Layla's dad wasn't gonna let her swim cause she had swam twice already that night and was finally dry BUT we got so dirty rolling in the mulch that we both got to swim. It was the first time I ever swam with another doggy and I loved it! Layla's mom joked that if she let her other black lab out, the three of us would look like an Oreo cookie. Hehe. I would be the white stuff in the middle. I told mom on the car ride home that LOUIE could also be the other black dog to complete my cookie and that I didn't really think he'd like hearing any reference to other dogs being the cookie to my fluff. Mom just rolled her eyes at me and said "yes Sunny, I love Louie too". Then, we stopped for ice cream and I got a scoop of vanilla with a dog bone topping. I went to bed happy, exhausted and cool.

P.S...today marks day 3 of me being crate free. Woo-Hoo!!!!!

My first day left out of the crate!!

[ Leave A Comment | 7 people already have ]

BIG DAY for me! Mom put me in my crate this morning and gave me a treat BUT she left the door to my crate open! I guess I am a big girl now! I spent the weekend with my pals Gracie and Judge as mom had to go to VA and I "heard" she played with another dog! His name is Buford and he is 4 months old. Anyway (I'm not too jealous), when I stayed with Gracie and Judge, their mom left us alone for an hour so I could see what grown up dogs do when their mom leaves the house. So...this morning, my mom left me in my crate BUT able to leave it if I choose. Did I? Yes! Mom came home at 9:30am to check me and I greeted her at the door! I wiggled, I wagged, I picked up my collar and pranced around with it. Mom thinks I look older suddenly...BOL! She walked me. I peed and pooped and now I'm going back in the crate and she will leave the door open and go back to work. See ya at lunch mom! :)

I got to start mom's birthday off. At 7am, I marched up to her in bed carrying her birthday card in my mouth. Granted, I danced around with it for a few seconds before I was willing to relinquish it but I finally did. The card had a picture of a beautiful whitish lab on the cover and it really looked like me! The card was from me, Moon and Bean. Mom loved it! Then, she got her gifts. She got a wonderful new perfume and a new bathing suit for when we go to my lake. When she got to work, they had a cake for her and it had 3 white doggies and paw prints and little candy dog bones on the cake. Cash's mommy made my mom a cool bracelet and she is wearing it on her ankle and looking very young and hip which is important when you are over the hill. Later today, I will take mom for a birthday walk and tonight I will watch the house while they go out for dinner. Mom said this is one of her nicest birthdays ever...I think it's because of ME :)

Mom took me to petstupid last night (BOO to BSL). I was out of my Blue and Moon and Bean were down to sharing one bag of food. Mom had a mild migraine but we're worth it. So...off to petstupid. I acted like a lunatic in the parking lot because there was an adorable Brussels Griffon (yes, mom has played the breed game and so, she knows that breed) barking it's yappy head off at me so I barked my fool head off at it. Then, we went into the store. Let's just say I am very high energy in the store. It's like a frenzy. I play with other dogs. I grab at toys. I pull a little. I slip and slide on the linoleum floor. I visit the cats. They hiss at me. I make high pitched excited barking noises. Mom picked up my food, Moon and Bean's food, 3 new lids for their canned food, 2 bags of Charlie Bears, a new tough toy, 3 new squeeky tennis balls and we were out of there. Mom loaded up the car, I jumped in and started panting hot dog breath in her ear. Then she said it...."no other dog in there acts like you, Sunny. That was exhausting". Then she tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. Our car has a history of failing alternators and mom figured for sure that the car was dead again. But...the power windows still worked so she tried again (this time, she actually put her foot on the gas peddle) and it started. Mom thinks between her migraine and me acting like a loon, she had a mild stroke in the store. We made it home eventually and the car and mom are fine today :)

I am so sorry we have lost another pal...

Mom is pre-approved for the mortgage. She feels really growed up now! I can't believe she is going to build me a house just so that my food can be safe when I am at my lake. That, and she says it will be nice to have a bathroom too...BOL! I just use the lake. Speaking of the lake...I almost gave mom a heart attack this weekend. I have a 20 foot leash that I drag behind me when we are at the lake. It is for when we walk and mom doesn't always hold it...I'm a big girl and I can walk without it but it's good to grab if she needs to. When I swim, I usually only go out to retrieve a ball or stick so I can drag my leash cause if it gets caught on something, mom is right there and can free it. That has never happened but it could! Well, this weekend mom was with me on the shore and my other peep and a friend were out in kayaks ACROSS the lake. Mom threw my ball for me and I swam past it and kept going. I was swimming out to my peep! Mom yelled "she's coming to you" and then watched soooo nervously cause what if my leash got caught on something in the middle of the lake? Luckily it didn't and I swam all the way there with no problem at all. It only took me like 60 seconds but mom said it felt like 10 minutes. She kept picturing me starting to struggle and then getting pulled down. She would have to swim to me and...ugghhh...it was not a fun imagination she had going there. Luckily, I Made it no problem and I jumped in the kayak when I got there, soaking my peep. Then, we paddled back to shore and I was all proud like and smiley but guess what I did when I saw mom on shore? I jumped out of the kayak and swam back to her. I am a little crazy! I'm really only happy when they are both with ME! So...new rule at the lake! I am not allowed to wear my leash when I am swimming and mom is not allowed to drop my leash if I might try to swim across the lake...BOL! I don't know why she worries though...I am Super Sunny ;)

My lakehouse? NERVOUS!!

Mom just hung up with Mr. Mortgage man. She is really hoping they are approved for what they would need to borrow. this house is similar to the one we want to put up at my lake. The model we picked doesn't have an upstairs so the roof isn't as high but it has nice cathedral ceilings so it will feel nice and roomy. It is 1300 square feet, perfect for a lakehouse.

What a super dog needs!

Just saying Hi to all my pals. I have had a fun week on vacation. Moon is ok after almost getting killed by a dog yesterday. We are all very grateful that I gave him my Sunny Power and he was able to outrun that dog and get up the tree. Mom is taking me to upstate NY today and I will get to run and play with my pal Josie. She has a pond on her property....YAY!! I hope you are all having a great week and TGIF!!!!! Have a great weekend pups! Bark at y'all on Monday :)

MOON got chased up a tree!

OMD! Moon is my fat, inside cat brother. My pal Gidget came over to play and mom said she'd meet Gidget and Abby (Gidget's furless sis) around back. She forgot Moon was hanging out in the yard with Bean. Gidget saw Moon and chased him! I was playing with Gidget and tried to get her to stop chasing Moon but she chased him up a tree. I didn't know Moon could climb a tree! It's a good thing Moon (fat as he is) was able to outrun fast Gidget. Moon hung onto the tree for dear life with Gidget waiting at the bottom of the tree for him. It was scary! Mom finally got Gidget's leash and told Abby to take her home. Then she went to get a ladder but Moon slid down the tree. BOL! (sorry but it was funny). He's ok but his claws are a little bloody. He's licking his wounds. I was very upset. Bean was very upset. Mom was very upset. Moon was very upset. Gidget...not so much. She thought it was fun. Mom is so grateful that Moon was able to run and climb the tree. I guess Bean has taught him some things. It's a good thing mom didn't clip Moon's nails yesterday like she was planning to do. I am happy I still have my cat brother safe and sound. Mom better be more careful about letting dogs come over to play with me and forgetting about Moon. Amen.

Sniff, sniff...

I have the best pals evah!!!!! Thank you all so much for all the nice words you wrote about my eye. My dogtor doesn't know if the ball incident is what caused my lens to look funny or maybe I have always had this abnormality and it took the ball incident for the dogtor to see it (cause he never looked in my eye before). But...he still sees it so he just wants me to see a doggie ophthomologist to see what he/she thinks. I say "she" cause Winston's aunt is a doggie ophthomologist at Cornell so maybe I will be seeing her!

I have gotten so many great suggestions on how to milk this eye thing and Izzy even told me to get a bionic eye...which I think I would love! I would want a blue one because I do think I am part husky and I bet my Louie would fine it tres sexy! Zaidie sent me a steak to smuggle into the Moosewood cause us doggies not so fond of vegetarian menus...BOL!

Thank you all so much! You are just the bestest pals in the whole wide world!!

Mom was watching the MJ memorial on TV last night when suddenly, I began barking my fool head off. My fur was standing straight up. Mom went to the window and saw him. A little pomeranian running around by MY foxhole. Mom went outside and he ran off across the street and lifted his leg and peed on the shrub. Mom squatted down and said "c'mere". OMD..you should have seen the cuteness. He pranced on his little four legs over to mom. He looked like a ballerina...BOL! He was sooo happy and mom looked at his collar for a tag but there was none. Mom picked him up and started walking up the road cause our neighbors have a female pomi but then mom realized this was a boy pomi. He stunk...peeyoo...and has a big tumor hanging from under his belly. He was peeing blood and had bad teeth. He stunk (did I already mention that?) and was matty and had poopy around his butt. This was not a very well cared for doggy :( Our neighbors said they have seen him running since Saturday (!!) but assumed it was the female pomi from up the road. Mom went there anyway but they weren't home. We fed him some of my blue buffalo and he liked that but he really liked my milkbone hot dog treats! He ate like 7 of those! He had some water. He peed everywhere he could! I think he was marking the whole yard saying "yup...I''ll live here". Mom walked with him to a couple of houses but no one knew him. Bean, of course, followed and the little guy made such cute growly noises at Bean. When they got home, Bean and the little guy actually touched noses. He is sooo sweet and calm and gentle and he seems very comfortable with cats and dogs, too. Yes, that's right. I got to play with him too. He was very tolerant of me and let me play bow to him and sniff his stinky butt and everything. Mom brought him in the garage and figured he could stay there overnight and she would bring him to the Humane Society in the morning but then he lifted his leg and peed on the de-humidifier. Hmmm...mom was getting a migraine and figured this would be a long, smelly night if he stayed. She called the police to see if anyone reported him missing but nope. The police came and offered to take him to the Humane Society (even though it was closed; they can get in to drop animals off)...mom said she couldn't do that but then realized that he wouldn't be any less traumatized if he had to stay alone in the garage so she gave in and let the policeman take him. I saw mom walking back to the house without him and she was crying a little. She kissed his stinky little face and promised to check up on him tomorrow. Does anyone want an old pomi? :(

Update on my eye :(

I did end up going to the dogtor and I have inflammation and something wrong with my lens. The dogtor isn't sure if the lens is from the ball or if maybe it's always been like that. I don't ever remember anyone ever looking in my eyes with that light thingy before so who knows? Maybe it's good I got hit with the ball so they found out about that. I have to put ointment in my eye 3-4 times a day and then go back next week. If my lens is still funny, I have to go to Cornell. I guess I am very smart! Mommy feels awful and I will be sure to milk this for all it's worth. Louie, Dot and Wyoming gave me some great ideas. And thanks for all the nice words and prayers too....you guys are the best pals!

I hurt my eye :(

Mommy was playing ball with me. She threw my tennis ball and it hit me square in the eye. It was an accident! She feels terrible and is sure that Roxy, Kodi and Maxwell are going to report her to the SPCA as this is like the 4th time she has tried to kill me! I yelped when it happened but then I seemed ok. She checked my eye all night and it seemed ok but this morning, I keep closing it and pretending I'm a pirate which, of course, has mommy panicking. On my morning walk, I had both eyes open and I don't seem to be in any pain. Mommy has a call into the vet. Will I get to go to the dogtor today or can mommy just keep an...wait for it....

P.S..Mom says "I LOVE YOU SUNNY" and I will NEVER leave you!!

HOW COULD YOU? - By Jim Willis, 2001

When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" -- but then you'd relent and roll me over for a belly rub.
My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs" you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love. She, now your wife, is not a "dog person" - - still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy.

Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate. Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a "prisoner of love." As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears, and gave me kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them and their touch -- because your touch was now so infrequent -- and I would've defended them with my life if need be. I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway.

There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me. These past few years, you just answered "yes" and changed the subject. I had gone from being "your dog" to "just a dog ," and you resented every expenditure on my behalf.

Now, you have a new career opportunity in another city, and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You've made the right decision for your "family," but there was a time when I was your only family

I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said "I know you will find a good home for her." They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog, even one with "papers." You had to pry your son's fingers loose from my collar as he screamed "No, Daddy! Please don't let them take my dog!" And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life. You gave me a good-bye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to meet and now I have one, too. After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew about your upcoming move months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home. They shook their heads and asked, "How could you?"

They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed my pen, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you that you had changed your mind -- that this was all a bad dream... or I hoped it would at least be someone who cared, anyone who might save me.

When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited. I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day, and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room. A blissfully quiet room. She placed me on the table and rubbed my ears, and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days.

As is my nature, I was more concerned about her. The burden which she bears weighs heavily on her, and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood. She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured, "How could you?"

Perhaps because she understood my dog speak, she said, "I'm so sorry." She hugged me, and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn't be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself -- a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place. And with my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my "How could you?" was not directed at her. It was directed at you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of you. I will think of you and wait for you forever. May everyone in your life continue to show you so much loyalty.

A Note from the Author: If "How Could You?" brought tears to your eyes as you read it, as it did to mine as I wrote it, it is because it is the composite story of the millions of formerly "owned" pets who die each year in American & Canadian animal shelters. Please use this to help educate, on your websites, in newsletters, on animal shelter and vet office bulletin boards. Tell the public that the decision to add a pet to the family is an important one for life, that animals deserve our love and sensible care, that finding another appropriate home for your animal is your responsibility and any local humane society or animal welfare league can offer you good advice, and that all life is precious. Please do your part to stop the killing, and encourage all spay & neuter campaigns in order to prevent unwanted animals.

Please pass this on to everyone, not to hurt them or make them sad, but it could save maybe, even one, unwanted pet. Remember...They love UNCONDITIONALLY

What's up with that?

Nowadays, I walk very nicely but I still do pull a little. Who is better trained? Mommy. She knows to walk more carefully and not to run down wet, slippery hills. Good mommy!

ZZZZZZZZZZZ.........

~Sunny is sleeping right now but through her dreams she will report on what a great 18 hours she's had~

Hi everyfur! Last night was my last night of agility class (Beginners atleast, I start advance beginner on 7/17). I got there a few minutes early so me and Boo (an 11 month old Bull Mastiff puppy who weighs 120 pounds) went off into a fenced in field and we played off leash. He tried to take me down by putting his paw on my back. I tried to take him down by biting his legs. I win. Boo was on his belly and I mounted him. Mom yelled "Sunny scores the first point"...AROoooooooo Boo is like a gentle giant and I just love him...he is soooooooo sweet! You should see him "jump" the hurdles...hehe...he just walks over them. His mom rescued him from a mastiff rescue. He was 4 months old and was surrendered for being...wait for it..."too active". I have played with Boo...he is like the Snuffleupagus. Maybe he was a little more active at 4 months old but I don't see it...and he was a puppy...what were they expecting? I could see if they said he was too big but too active? (I change my mind...too big is a STUPID excuse too...you got a bull mastiff!! )People. I love em all cause I'm a dog but my mom hates stupid people..hehe. Anyhow, he became a foster failure and his foster mom adopted him. I really love that Boo! Class went well in general and we graduated with a bang...we got to do a 4 obstacle combo...See-Saw, Jump, Jump, Tunnel. Loved it! I can't wait for the next class. Then, I came home and went to bed. Woke up this morning and mom took me on my 90 minute walk with Gracie, Judge and Bailey. We had a nice looooong, hot walk and all of were panting like crazy. Mom brought a big bottle of water and my bowl and I shared my water with them. Then, I got home ready for my day long nap but nope! Mom took the day off! There are some men doing construction at Hunter the Beagle's house so I've been watching them from my command chair. Mom had them do a little rock moving in my yard so I got to run over and greet them all. One of the guys asked (as I was charging him) "does she bite" and mom yelled "she bites!" but she said it kidding and then I stole his work glove. Before long, I was sitting in his lap in the backhoe. I love construction! I think I want to get one of those hats! Finally, things quieted down and I am able to take a..............

My dogtor loves me and she and the tech drooled all over my soft fur as they pet me and commented on how cute and soft I am. Then, she shaved the area where my scabbies were. I did not like that! Now I have a bald spot behind my right ear and mom has to apply antibiotic ointment. My dogtor doesn't think it's a bite. She thinks I scratched my ear and cut myself and then I swam in the lake and it got icky. I got my Rabies shot and I go back in a month for my distemper. Mom wouldn't let me get both at once cause she is neurotic ab0ut vaccine reactions. Then, my rabies and distemper are good for 3 years! Cool! I still have to get my Lyme Vaccine yearly. My poop sample was clean and life is good.

Going to the dogtor tonight....

Last night, I was strolling around my yard as mom was cooking on the grill. Suddenly, mom noticed me dancing around the flower bed. Dancing, prancing, happy!!!!! She looked over and said "speak of the devil...there's Bean" (my parents were just talking about Bean). Then mom thought to herself "hmmm...why hasn't Sunny chased Bean yet?" So she looked a little closer and yelled "Bean has something and it's big!" Gah! Both parents came running over and Bean was protecting his "something" and growling at me (normally, he would run off when I come dancing over to him but he wasn't going anywhere this time...oh fun!!). Mom yelled "oh it's a rabbit and it's still alive". She grabbed Bean by the scruff of the neck and made him drop it. I was already put in a sit-stay and trust me; it was hard but I sat and stayed. Then, she carried Bean into the house by the scruff of the neck (hehe) lest she not get bit or clawed by an angry Bean. Once Bean was in the house, I got put in too. Drats! The baby bunny was cowering behind moms legs and then they checked him over. He seemed ok. They pet his head and he hopped off into the woods. They think Bean had just caught him and only had him by his back leg and that he was ok. Mom said if I hadn't been dancing around Bean, she never would have seen him all tucked into the flower bed with his "catch" and she probably would have found a headless bunneh...ick! All I know was it was very exciting! I got to see Bean AND a bunneh AND mommy hootin and hollerin...hehe. Bean and I have both been over to sniff the area where the bunneh was last seen. He's gone. Bean is pisssssed!!!!!!!!

Watching Hunter...

Mom watched Hunter all weekend. I watched mom watch Hunter. As she would walk across the street, I would sit in the living room window and watch her. I am willing to share my mom with a doggy in need but I gotta tell ya...it was a little weird watching her walk another doggy. One time, my eyes got real big and I looked around like "Do you see that?" I was told it was ok so I let it go but I greeted her like crazy every time she came home. She told me that Hunter was so sad at being alone that she had to hand feed him. He ate kibble out of my moms hands! OMD! I want to try that...well...I guess if treats and table food count, I eat out of her hands a lot...BOL! She even lets me take a piece of food "nice" from her lips....It's kinda like a kiss but I get food. I like that a lot! She said she's trying to teach me to take treats "gentle" but I think she just likes kissing me. She sings that song to me a lot..."I kissed a dog and I liked it"...hehe. Anyway, Hunter's family is home and mom saw him run out the front door to greet them all and he was making squeeky noises...it was so cute! We are glad they are home! Hunter is a very spoiled Beagle and I like it that way!

I have a new friend and today is his birthday!!!!!

His mom was thrilllllllled to report that they got rid of that law!!!!! HOORAY!!!!

I can't believe it! I can not believe it! My own mother made me bleed! Did she not learn anything from Sammy's tragic nail clipping escapade? She took my paws in her hand and in DULL LIGHTING, clipped my nail. OUCH...I yelped. She gave me ALL the treats in her hand and then looked...yep....I'm bleeding. Mom is off crying right now and I am typing this with my left paw....I just can't believe it......

We are watching a beagle this weekend!!!

Well...by "we"...I mean my mom. Hunter, our across the street Beagle neighbor...Hunter's family is going away for the weekend and mom gets to watch him. He's never shown much interest in me and he tends to get anxious around other dogs so mom said "she" will be taking care of Hunter...not "we"...hmph! One time, I did run over to Hunter and smothered him with kisses. He was so shocked he didn't even have time to growl at me...he just kind of shriveled up and took it. That's right...Take it! So...mom will go over at lunch and let him out. He has a run so he can be on his run the whole lunch time. Luckily it's the weekend so he can be outside all day as we are just across the street. Mom thought about walking us together "Cesar style" but that got vetoed. Hmph! I will find a way to go visit Hunter this weekend...you just wait and see :)

Aren't they feeding Louie?

Mom got an email from my doggy mom's mom (follow me?). She was talking to her husband and they think they might like to take a trip to PA this Summer to meet Sunny and Scuba (Betty's other pup whose whereabouts we know). The lady who runs the rescue where mom got me kept Scuba and she probably knows the whereabouts of the other pups so maybe...just maybe...we could arrange a little "Betty litter reunion" this Summer in the Poconos (that's where my rescue is). I am very excited at the thought of meeting my mother! I am sure I will jump all over her and she will be annoyed by me...just like every other adult dog I play with...BOL!

OK...here goes. I am the best, purest bowl of white mint chocolate chip ice cream...with the chips removed (Eaten by Lucy Brown). Then, there are 2 small scoops of maple walnut (minus the walnuts...Dexter ate those) that make up my ears. One small scoop of peppermint stick makes up my adorable butterfly nose.

Yummy!

Mom clips on my leash and off we go...up the big hill to my favorite field. This morning, as is the case most mornings, Bean appears from somewhere along the path and starts following us. He stays about 20 feet back. If we walk, he walks. If we jog, he trots behind. He follows the whole walk. When we turn to go home, he follows. Sometimes he runs and climbs a tree just to impress me. Mom was going to take me on a different route this morning but didn't want Bean to go on that road so we just did our usual route. Sometimes a car will pass and mom sees them laugh at the kitty following the dog. I sure love my kitty bro.

You pups are not going to believe this! My mom is in shock! How many millions of dogs are out there in this world? Guess who my mom just found? GUESS!!!!!!! MY MOTHER!!!!!!!! My real DOG MOTHER!!!!! As most of you know, I was born in a rescue in Alabama. My dog mother's name was Biscuit. She was pregnant and pulled from the shelter by a wonderful woman at Crossing Path Rescue. My litter and I came to PA to a rescue in the Poconos' but my mom stayed in Alabama and was going to be spayed and then, hopefully adopted. My human mom has ALWAYS wondered what happened to Biscuit and my parents talk about her a lot. Just the other day, my mom pulled up my petfinder pictures and saw the original pictures of me with my litter and my mom Biscuit. My mom commented how much "I look like her!" Anyway, today, mom googled the name of my rescue in the Poconos "just because" and saw THIS. It caught her attention because it said that the woman who runs my rescue brought a dog named "Betty" to the rescue and that all of her pups were adopted through petfinder. Mom was reading the blog and half way down, she saw HER! BETTY IS BISCUIT!!!! Um...excuse me but does she not look like me!? The story is the same! Betty was brought to the shelter in Alabama in 2/08, I was born 2/22/08; her pups were brought to Linda in PA and Linda kept one (YES! Linda kept "Bandit" the black and white pup in my pictures...now named Scuba). And the author of this blog adopted BETTY (who used to be Biscuit!!!!). AND...she describes Betty as the biggest Smush head dog ever! Of course! She is just like me! OMD!!! My mom can't beleive that with all the dogs and rescue stories out there, she actually found my mother! She emailed the lady and is waiting to hear back. I wonder where she is!!!! Miracle!!! Wouldn't you agree?

What the &*^% was that?

Was anyone else awakened last night by the loudest boom my puppy dog ears ever did hear? I was sleeping soundly when BANG/CRASH/BOOM the sky was exploding! I jumped and mom rolled over and petted me and kissed my face and told me it was ok. I'm not normally afraid of Thunder but that was LOUD! I don't shake or anything during a storm and even after that CRASH, I was fine but that one made me jump. Sheesh! I hope God is done moving the furniture around Rainbow Bridge soon ;)

P.S...no walk for me this morning....that makes 2 Tuesdays in a row of crapola weather. Crap!

Yawwwwn........
Streeeeeeeetch........
I will dictate my diary entry to mom but will keep my eyes closed as I speak as it is MONDAY and time for me to catch up on some zzzzz's.....

Saturday was spent supervising yard work and just basically being me. Then, at 5pm, I got loaded into the car and we went off to pick up my cousin Elizabeth. She is 5 and has lots of energy. She rode in the back of the car with me and I watched her eat her "dibs". Those are little balls of ice cream with chocolate coating. Thanks to the chocolatey coating, I was only allowed ONE but I'm sure she would have shared them all with me if she was allowed to. We headed to the park and I showed her all my favorite little swim spots. She was hopping from rock to rock in the creek and she wiped out and landed on her butt in the water. Hehe...now she was wet, just like me. It's a good thing she's so young cause those young bones can take a fall...unlike my clutsy mother who constantly reminds me that she "doesn't want another broken leg this summer thank you very much" and makes me walk all nice and non-pully ;). After the park, we picked up dinner and went home. Elizabeth played with me allllll night, inside, outside, whew until we all passed out around 10pm. That kid talks in her sleep so everytime she talked, I went and checked on her. I was very busy taking care of a 5 year old and didn't get as much rest as I normally do. When I woke up, she was still there! OMD!!!!! She played with me all morning and then we finally got in the car at 11:30 am, dropped her off and headed to the Park. There were tons of doggies at the park! My grandparents were there! What is going on? It was the Humane Society Walk-a-thon!!!! AROooooooooooooo. I sniffed, I played, I pranced, I talked (I can be very verbal out in public). Finally, the walk started and we doggies were already hot. 2 minutes into the walk, we came across a creek! I ran to the edge. I got the ok. I jumped in! It was nice and cool and I never swam with other doggies before. FUN!!!! Then we walked a pretty path through the park and before we knew it, we were back at the tents. We hung around a little bit, mom got a T-shirt for raising $80.00 and then we headed home. We stopped at my favorite ice cream place and we had some ice cream. We got home and I slept pretty much until this morning. I will spend today catching up on my sleep and dreaming of the fun weekend I had!

AROOOoooooooooo

Mom was at the State Park last weekend and found a gosling that appeared to be injured. It had been abandoned by it's flock and couldn't walk. She and a friend picked him up with a towel and then they saw that his leg was all wrapped up tightly with fishing line. They cut the fishing line and unwrapped it. The leg was still pretty swollen and cut but he began to move it. Moms friend has a farm so she took the gosling home and has been caring for him. He is eating, swimming and playing but he is (was) alone. Moms friend went to a farm and bought 2 baby goslings so that my gosling would have a family! The 2 babies have already taken to the injured gosling and now they are 3. Hooray for moms friend!!!!!!!!!!

Bean goes outside. He can be gone for hours. That's his life.
Moon is a housecat. He is allowed to go outside supervised for short periods of time. Sometimes, he wanders a little but mom always finds him easily. Well, not "always". Sometimes, he gives her a little scare. Last night, the peeps were looking for Moon. They were both calling him and shaking the treat bag. 5 minutes passed. No Moon. I was inside watching. Mom came in to double check that he wasn't inside. I nudged her with my nose and put my paw up on the screen door. "Let me find him", I said. Mom yelled "I'm sending out Sunny" and with that, she snapped my collar on me and opened the screen door and said "Go find Moon". Out like a dart, I ran straight ahead and up into the woods. I danced around something and my tail stood straight up in the air. Mom yelled "I think Sunny found him" and brought out her flashlight and shone it into the woods. There, looking back at her, were 2 irritated cat eyes. Moon was way up there in the woods...not on the edge of the woods/lawn where he could have been easily spotted. Mom went up into the woods, picked up his fat ass and brought him back down. She kept saying "I can't believe Sunny went right to him!" No sniffing, no searching. "It was like she knew where he was the whole time". Why are they constantly amazed by me? People are funny...

P.S...I got a treat for finding Moon. Mom said "Cookie would be proud of you". AWwww :)

I was all snuggly sleeping with mom when we heard "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". That was the sound of heavy rain falling at 5:30 this morning. Mom rolled over and turned off her alarm. Huh? Why? Mom! The alarm goes off at 6:30 am on Tuesdays so you can take me on my 90 minute walk with Gracie, Judge and Bailey. Why did you turn it off? She rolled over and kissed me on the nose and said "it's pouring". Sigh....I went back to sleep. The sun is out now and it is a beautiful day but it's too late. My walk was cancelled. Boooooooo!

1) We went for our walk and I pooped deep in the woods so there was no need to use the baggy she brought along. We continued down the road and saw a BIG pile of poopy on the edge of the road and someone's lawn. Mommy used MY baggy and picked it up. She carried it all the way home and dropped it in our garbage pail. I was proud of mommy ;)

2) Mom says I have "three stages" to my walk. First, I start out very excited and eager. I pull a little even though I know not to. Then, I move into my behaved stage. I walk nicely with mom and act like a good girl. Then, as we approach home, I begin my bold stage. I grab my leash in my mouth and I shake my head. I just don't want the walk to end.

3) Mommy bought "invisible fencing" for her garden. It is supposed to keep the wildlife away. It smells like rotten eggs. It is supposedly safe for animals but mom will have to double check that. Mom says it smells horrible. I think it smells wonderful! I have been sniffing and licking like crazy. Mom says I am crazy. AROOOOOOOoooooooooo

My DNA test results...

I am 50% lab and 50% anteater. Mom says she knew I was 50% anteater because when I go to agility class, I don't stop sniffing the dirt and finding all the yummy goodness underneath. I find cat poo, treats leftover from previous classes, bugs, grass and more cat poo.

Yes, last night I had agility. It was great! We learned 2 new obstacles. I learned to jump through the tire and also to go through the shoot; which is like a tunnel but it is collapsed. We did a bunch of 2 obstacle combo's too. (Shoot/Tunnel and tire/tunnel). We also walked the A-frame and I was busy looking at mom so I had my head turned to the side and I fell off and landed on my side. I didn't cry though. I said "I'm good" and got back up. Mom said I remind her of her when she used to do the balance beam in gymnastics.

I spent ALL my free time sniffing the dirt and eating whatever I could find. That's what anteaters do.

P.S...I haven't really had my DNA test but mom knows I am part anteater and she's ok with that!

Sweet Marley was surrendered to the shelter after her dad died. His family didn't want her so she went to the shelter where she lingered for a long time (so sad!) until Hanna, Lakota and Faith's mom (who is a PAWSOME dog rescue mom out in Georgia) found out about her and arranged to have her rescued and she fostered her herself. Guess what? Lakota fell in love with Marley and so did their mom! She is now officially a member of the 2 and a half girls pack!!!!!! I am so happy for her. She found the best family!!!

P.S...Marley's story should be a big reminder to all our parents out there. Please arrange for god parents for all of us babies so that if, God forbid, anything were to happen to our parents, we would have another home and not be at the mercy of the shelters. My godmother lives in NY and I have been there twice to play with her dog, Josie, who I love!

Thanks for all your prayers and POTP! He came meandering in at 11:39 last night. He ate, slept and was back out by 8am. Mom sat on one of his favorite rocks with him this morning and pet him and spent a little quality time with him and Moon. She was feeling really guilty while Bean was missing and was wondering if he is mad cause she never spends any time outside with him anymore...since, um...she got me. Well, how could she spend time with him outside? I am outside and when I see Bean, I chase him! That's just what I do. Granted, I can (can, I say loosely) control myself if mom makes me but for the most part, I see Bean, I chase him. I just can't contain myself. I don't want to hurt him. I want to play with him! I even chase Moon when he's outside. You should see that fat boy run...BOL! Anyway, mom walked me on my leash while Bean ate his breakfast on the patio. Then she left me inside and went out and sat with him. She feels better. Bean is content. I am relieved. I only am happy when my whole family is together! We'll probably see Bean again some time tomorrow :)

P.S...mom has VOWED if she ever gets another cat, he is staying an indoor only cat. Her heart can't take it. :)

Ahhh...Now that I'm over the shock and excitement that I might get to meet Winston's mom, I can tell you all how great I did at agility last night. Mom brought her camera so I have video. AROOOooo; she will post it tonight. What was so special? Well...we combined two agility "tricks" (do they have names like "posts" or "stations"?...I don't know all that technical stuff yet) together. First, I jumped over the hurdle and then went immediately into the tunnel. It was so much fun and I did it great my first time! I'm not saying I was the only one who did it perfectly but....I'm the only one who did it perfectly! ARROOOoooooooo

Mom arranged to work different hours on Tuesdays. She is going to work 10-6. Why? Because my pals Gracie and Judge and their mom have a walking group and walk every morning from 7:30 -9:00. I asked mom if we could join them? She said we couldn't because she has to be to work for 8am. I pouted. She said "well...maybe in the nicer weather". So...she asked her supervisor and Tuesdays it is. We went this morning. LOVED IT! First, I ran around the yard with Gracie and Judge. Gracie and I reminisced about our agility class last week and then I annoyed her by chewing on her leg. Then, Bailey, a Golden Retriever, showed up and we headed off. I wasn't allowed to "charge" Bailey as he doesn't like dogs right in his face. So...we walked very "Cesar" style for 90 minutes and by the end, I was able to say Hi to Bailey. Mom got to work by 10 and I am one very happy, very tired and very exercised pup.

Yippee!!!!!

Mom is trying to ruin me!

Mom is a dork!! First, she didn't get the package in the mail until this morning! I told her to spend the $35.00 to ensure delivery by Wed. but she said "Thursday will be fine". OMD!!!!! Thursday is not your birthday! I don't want to pop out of the box on Thursday! I want to pop out of the box on Wednesday....and give you a big birthday smooch on your actual birthday! Sigh....please don't hate me. It is her fault! THEN...She forgot the card! The card that I specially picked out. It's not in the box! :( She said we can mail that seperately tomorrow. You won't get that til probably Friday. What is wrong with her? She's awfully flightly and undependable these days! I'm so sorry. Please don't judge me by my mother! I love you!

My pal Lexi is an administrator of the wonderful group P*I*F (Pay It Forward). It is a great group that promotes trying to do good things for others (especially doggies....AROOOooooooo). I wanted to start a thread about mommies visit to the humane society the other day and how good it made her feel to bring bones, treats, pigs ears to the sad doggies in lockdown but you have to be an admninistrator to start a thread so guess what? Lexi made me an administator. Yippee! I would like to invite ALL my friends to join this wonderful group. I will go start that thread so you can read about mom's trip to the humane society. There is a very spiritual story in there that involves our pals Flicka and Lukas.

Peace out!

WARNING! Mom is hijacking my diary again!

May 15th 2009 7:33 am

Hi friends,

I am hijacking Sunny's diary to warn you of a computer virus that ruined my morning and made me late for work. I was playing on facebook for 2 minutes this morning while waiting for coffee to finish brewing (serves me right, I should have been playing with Sunny...LOL!) and a very official message that looked like it was from "windows" popped up and said "your computer is at risk and has been infected with the Trojan virus". I don't remember the sequence of events but I did end up clicking on the "run scan" button and then ended up with this "Personal Antivirus" program along the icons on the bottom of my computer. I realized it was a SCAM when I was asked to enter credit card info. and "googled" it and saw dozens of stories that sounded exactly the same. I ran my own antivirus scan and have no viruses. I feel stupid for clicking but people have said once it pops up, there's no way to prevent it from running (?). I can't uninstall the program the regular way and am looking into ways to remove it. One of my co-workers gave me a "spyware removal program" so I will look into that. I know I'm not "infected" with a real virus but this "personal antivirus" program feels pretty virusy in it's own right in that it constantly pops up and gives warnings and is very annoyed. I had my pop up blocker turned on and I do have webroot spysweeper so I"m not sure why this happened. I don't know if facebook is at all involved or just what I happened to be doing at the time it appeared. I just wanted to warn all my friends NOT to click on anything if you get this pop up. Shut down your computer. Unplug it. And then re-boot. Hopefully, I can prevent some of you from a ruined cup of coffee :)

A new family song...

May 14th 2009 8:35 am

I am very full of play energy on the morning after I have agility class. I mean, just last night I was playing to my hearts content with a beagle, a bull terrier, a yellow lab and a mastiff. I got treats. I ran through tunnels. I jumped over hurdles. I kind of walked across a beam. Fun! Fun! Fun! (I did have a little anxiety attack at the end of class though and wouldn't leave moms side; even when they let us all run free together; nope...I stayed by mom). Anyhow, how am I NOT supposed to wake up full of energy and ready to play some more. Who do I have to play with in my house? Moon and Bean. I don't really care that they're cats...I want to play with them. I even gave Moon my chicken chew and he hissed at me and ran off. Hmph. Mom was sitting at the table watching me try try try to play with Moon (Bean was still sleeping because, once again, he drug his furry little butt in at 2 am). So...mom sang me the following song. It is now my theme song:

"I am the Sun
You are the Moon
Bean is the words
We are the tune...

PLAY WITH ME........."

THE DOGGY EXPO!!!!

OH.
MY.
DOG!

I had SOOOOooo much fun! As soon as we pulled in the parking lot, I started. Talking! I talk when I get excited. I could smell all the other doggies. I dragged mom in and barely let her pay our admission fee. There were doggies everywhere. AND TREATS! Every booth had treats. Some were for sale. Some were free. One stand had everything from bacon cheeseburger treats to real bones wrapped with treats. It was insane, I tell you. When I finally calmed down enough that mom could stop at a booth, she got some samples of these treats called "ringlets". They are made of (ready Saphira?)...CHICKEN. Mom gave me a peice and I inhaled it. Usually, I touch any new treats with my nose first. Then I play with it. Then...I eat it. This one; I scarfed. Mom told the man "wow...they must be really good" so she bought me a bag. Love them! Then, we walked around and I must have sniffed 300 dogs. In the 2 hours we were there, there wasn't one incident. No growling, no nipping, no ruffled feathers, just a bunch of happy dogs meeting and greeting eachother. This was my first "social outing" and mom says I did great! I saw my pal Eva and I also got to meet Tsuki. Tsuki is much smaller than I imagined from her pictures on dogster. She is a cute, sweet little Shiba Inu. She was hanging with a husky named Nanook. We did tricks together and mom gave us treats. Nanook loves him some treats as much as I do. I think he took one out of my mouth...BOL! He does "high five" which made mom happy. Sheesh....I guess I'll be learning that soon. My mom and Tsuki's mom told Nanook's mom she best get him on dogster...BOL. After a nice visit, we moseyed on. We visited the "adopt a boxer" booth and there was a 6 month old pure Bassett hound there. Her owner died :( Mom played with her for a while and "thought about it" but then came to her senses and we moved on. We visited the Golden Retriever rescue. There was a 4 month old Golden puppy there. Thank DOG it was not up for rescue (he was there with his mom) or he definitely woulda been coming home with us. (Nah...mom says that now cause it's safe...hehe). Finally, we decided to leave. On the way out, mom bought a cool wooden bird house covered in peanut butter and bird seed. Guess what I bought her? Her mothers day present. A paw shaped magnet for her car. It says "my mommy rescued me". OMD! It made her cry. On the way home, we stopped at my favorite park for a swim cause I was hot. What a day!

P.S....My Louie's birthday is coming up. May 20th. Maybe I did a little shopping for him at the pet expo too? AROOOOOoooooo

P.S.S...Mother's Day was fun too! I let mom take me to the park to celebrate. My Grandparents came over and I let them take me for ice cream. I got my Grandma a shirt from the Humane Society giftshop that says "ask me about my Granddog". She loved it! So...it was a nice day but guess who ruined it? BEAN! Bean decided not to come home last night. So...mom didn't sleep. Mom got up at 6am and drove around looking for him. When she got back, who was looking in the back door but Bean. He dragged his furry little butt in and went to bed. Mom told him he was a "day late and a dollar short". He ruined her mother's day night but gave her the best gift possible the following morning (he came home). Awww...we love that furry little monster :)

Yesterday at lunch, mom took me on my favorite walk. UP the big hill and to the right. I love to go poopy in the woods up there. As I was finding the right spot, mom saw a beautiful grey cat come out from the bushes across the street. She laughed and said "Hi Bean". Bean looked over at us and looked genuinely surprised to see us. I didn't pay much attention which is unusual cause normally I would be like Beanbeanbeanbeanbean!!!! I finished doing my business and mom and I headed down the road towards an abandoned house that I like to sniff. Mom turned around and saw Bean was following us. He looked especially cute and mom felt the urge to pet him but she knew he would run off if mom and I approached him. So...mommy put me in a sit/stay. She dropped my leash. She told me "stay". She put up her hand...that means "stay, missy and I mean it". She walked over to Bean, bent down and pet him. His head stretched to meet her hand and he bashed it with his head. She scratched his head, his face, patted his back and then got up. She put her hand up to me..."stay". She walked back to me. I was still sitting there; big smile on my face. She said "good girl", gave me a treat and rubbed my face and head. Proud as a peacock mom was. She picked up my leash and we headed down the road. When we started home, mom turned around and looked. Bean was following us. He followed us all the way home. Mom brought me inside and said "we brought Bean home"....hehe. Mom said her heart swelled like the grinch today; she got to walk both her babies at lunch. Bean loves to follow us on our walks but today was neat cause he found us during our walk and followed us home. Mom wonders how we look to passerby's; she bets it's pretty cute :)

It all started with the baby Pongo picture. Mom was looking in the forums and saw the baby Pongo. She put him in my diary. Then..she saw a baby Saphira...diary. Then, insanity took over and she "babied" all our pals. Some of my pals weren't found (yet...)hehe... mom says the purebreds were, of course, easier to find than the lovable mutts (like Midnight Star, Maxwell, Izzy (gah...I'm actually scared to call Izzy a "mutt") but we will look today and perhaps find baby Bodhi, Bo Cephus, Addison, Tanner, Levi... OR maybe mom will actually do work today :) Hehe.

Mommy came out of the bathroom this morning with what looked like a little piece of tissue on her nose. Of course, it was pointed out to her. She wiped it and said "it's not tissue, it's a piece of Sunny's nylabone. She licked my face and must have left it there". AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo I told her that was definetely making my diary today. BOL!!!!!!!

A small victory for Seals (Hooray!!)

Mom says I look like a seal....(ARR-ARR-ARR)

Today is a day to celebrate. The European Union has slammed shut the door on trade in the products of the commercial seal slaughter.

The Canadian government used every trick in the book to try to derail the ban: massive lobbying, misinformation, and even threats of trade reprisals. But the EU stood its ground and honored its citizens’ opposition to this trade in cruelty. By doing so, the EU has saved millions of seals from a horrible fate.

Every year, the ProtectSeals team has endured hazardous conditions to document the seal hunt. We are committed to showing the world that the Canadian government is lying when it claims that the hunt is humane.

On our trips to the ice, the ProtectSeals team has brought key opinion shapers such as Paul McCartney and Swedish Member of the European Parliament Carl Schlyter. After their trips, neither has wavered in speaking out against the hunt. Shortly after his trip to the ice, Schlyter drafted the first version of today’s EU ban. Our hunt footage was directly responsible for convincing the rest of the EU to agree to the ban. It gives me enormous satisfaction to know that we haven’t just documented the hunt, we have made history.

What Does It Mean?

This is the beginning of the end for the Canadian seal hunt. The Canadian government estimates that losing this primary market will cost Canada’s sealing industry $6.6 million (CAD) each year. The hunt brought in less than $7 million last year. It's not hard to do the math.

Just the promise of an EU ban was enough to drive the prices for seal fur down to $15 (CAD) per skin -- a decline of 86 percent since 2006. As a result, many sealers stayed home. Out of this year's quota of 280,000 harp seals, fewer than 60,000 have been killed so far.

Now that the EU has banned its trade in seal products, countless more seals will live their lives in peace from this year forward.

What’s Next?

Canadian seal hunt supporters won’t give up just yet. With government subsidies still in hand, the sealing industry will be chasing down new markets. The ProtectSeals campaign is working to convince all targeted nations to follow the EU’s example.

We’re keeping the pressure on the Canadian fishing industry and government with the global boycott of Canadian seafood products. Since the boycott began, the Canadian fishing industry has suffered a $750 million (CAD) drop in the value of snow crab exports alone to the United States.

Canadian Senator Mac Harb has introduced his nation’s first bill to end the hunt. The ProtectSeals campaign is striving to convince other members of Canada's Parliament to support the bill.

Yes, there is still much to do -- and if you'd like to help, please visit humanesociety.org/protectseals to learn how. But for the moment, please join me in celebrating this historic victory. Before I was a dog mom...

Borrowed from my pal Willie :)

Before I Was A dog Mom

Before I was a dog Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
even if the doorbell rang.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got to bed
or if I could get into my bed.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I cleaned my house every day.
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies
Or invited the neighbor's dog over to play.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags,
toilet paper, soap or deodorant
were poisonous or dangerous.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had never been peed on
Pooped on
Drooled on
Chewed on
Or pinched by puppy teeth.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had complete control of
My thoughts,
My body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing
the covers or pillow.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged
could affect my heart so deeply.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had never held a sleeping puppy
just because I couldn't put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn't know how warm it feels inside
to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being
A dog Mom

Nervous eating...

Mom's supervisor came back from a conference and brought mom a box of these. Mom has been sitting at her desk all day reading about Mulligan. She is eating her feelings. Therefore, she has eaten the whole box. Someone is going to be very fat tomorrow. AROOOOOOOOoo

The Mulligan diary entry that made mom snort.

Actually, Pennie wrote this one but it is about Mulligan, in part, and mom couldn't read it outloud without snorting. one more laugh for Mulligan

I am so depressed...

This morning, I headed off into the woods to do some deer tracking. The woods have become very green and full so mom won't let me go as far without calling me back cause she "can't see me"...blah blah blah. I'll tell you...the one thing I liked about winter was the bare trees in my wooded yard. I could go deep and mom could still see my furry white head so I got to go deeper. Now, all summer, I will only be allowed "so far" before mom calls me back. Anyhoo...this morning, I was hanging out and I smelled something wet, dark and delicious. What was it? I'm not telling and mom doesn't know so she can't put it in here But...I rolled in it. I put my cheek to the ground and smeared it all over my head. I had a pretty good roll going when mom clicked my clicker. I know that sound. Click means Treat. I came running. I got my treat and then mom saw my head. Black. Did it smell bad? She doesn't know cause she didn't check. She went and got my mud towel, made it wet and soapy and gave my head a bath. A bath! I hate baths. A sponge bath is still a bath. I worked hard to get that mud and smell on my head and she replaced it with water and some foamy hand soap that smells like mangos. Mangos!? Sheesh. Well...I am in a complete depression. First, I dried my head on the couch, carpet and big chair. Then, I moped around the house looking as pathetic as I can. When mom went to leave for work, I was already in my crate lying flat as a pancake. Sad. Dejected. Pitiful. I guess someone will have to come home at lunch to walk me and make sure I'm ok.

Its. Just. Not. Right.

I know the word "touch"

Just like my pal Chipper! I had my second class in agility. Mom says "touch" and puts a target by my head. I touch it with my nose. I get a treat. Cool. Touch. Bop. Treat. Touch. Bop. Treat. Mom thought about Chipper the whole class...hehe :)

Mom saw me laying on the deck this morning with one back leg froggin but the other leg tucked under me. She said I was "half-froggin" for Ella. She tried to snap a picture but of course, I moved. She's thinkin I might have some hip issues (I have always "hopped" up the steps with my 2 back legs together and that made the vet say "hmmmm") so I might never be able to do a full frog but mom thinks the half-frog is pretty cute too. If she ever gets a picture, we'll post it and if I ever do a full frog; mom will squeek :)

I was allowed to get dirty and everything. Very nice. Please don't judge me just cause I didn't "look" when mom told me to. I am usually very good at listening but I was distacted by all the fun!!

I like to keep mom on her toes. Just when she thinks she knows me...bam...I change.
Mom brought out the clicker at lunch. She figured she'd poop me and then right before my treat, she'd click the clicker. Multi-tasking...so to speak. Guess what? I am now AFRAID of the clicker. Yup! I ran away from it and tucked my tail between my legs. I wouldn't even take the treat. It doesn't matter that I loved the clicker and the treats last night at agility. I hate it now!

Mom has noticed a sore throat the last few nights whilst she sleeps. It feels "allergic". She opened her eyes and said (in a hoarse voice) "I bet it's from all your hair under my bed and your lick spots on my pillow". Is it my fault she hasn't vacuumed under her bed in like a week? Washed the bedding in like a week? Chop chop momma...I bet I know what we'll be doing tonight :)

Agility is FUN!!!!!!!!!

OMD! I got to go to agility school last night. It is held at a barn so the floor was dirt, which I loved! Sometimes, kittehs go in there and use the floor as their litter box so there were some treats to be found too! Also, some of the other doggies left some small peices of cheese around so me and Haley (a cute but bold little beagle) had fun finding those. Haley's brother, Dobbin, is a bull terrier/mastiff/lab mix. He is only 11 months but BIG...and fun! He likes to play even rougher than me, as if that were possible. The other doggie in the class was....surprise....Gracie! MY Gracie! The Gracie I stayed with while mom went to AC and left me. I love Gracie! Judge didn't go...just Gracie. She is such a pretty lab. Anyhoo...we started with some basics like learning to return to moms side instead of her front. We did a little clicker work. Love those clickers. Click. Treat. Click. Treat. Hehe...I like that. But the best part of the night was the tunnel! My teacher held my leash on one end of the tunnel and mom was at the other end and had a treat. At first, I would have no part of going INTO the tunnel so mom crawled through and coaxed me in cause she had yummy treats in her hand. I ran in and then we were both IN the tunnel and got kinda sammiched in there together. I backed out and mom yelled for Gracie's mom to "pull my feet". Hehe. But...she managed to crawl out and then we did it again. This time, I ran right through the tunnel to mom waiting at the other end. FUN! I did it lots more times and we kept making the tunnel longer and longer. FUN! The only silly thing I did is I've developed this new little habit of jumping on mom. After I return to her, I like to jump on her and she's already walking awa, I jump on her back and make a train. Everyone thought it was funny...mom...not too pleased. Oh yea, and I also like to take my own leash in my mouth and shake it. I'm excited...what can I tell you? I can't wait for next week.

AROOOOOOOOoooooooooo

I love the Earth!
It has been good to me so far.
I was born on the Earth on 2/22/08.
I took my first steps on the Earth.
I love to walk and play and run on the Earth.
I love to drink from little puddles I find on the Earth.
And eat worms which bear its name.
I love leaves...
and flowers...
and snow...
and sunshine...
I love the way the wind feels when it blows...
and the birds, squirrels and bunnies who romp around and tease me.
I have swam in the Earths lakes...
and hiked along its trails...
I have yet to see the ocean....
But I can't wait.
I love the Earth!
I hope it stays happy and healthy for many many zillions more years...
So all the doggies can walk and play and run on the Earth...
and drink it's water...
and eat it's worms...
and play with leaves and flowers and snow...
and feel its sunshine on their backs...
and the wind...
and chase the birdies and the squirrels and the bunnies...
and swim in the lakes and hike along the trails...
and play along the ocean edge...

Love,
Sunny Lee (who always recycles!!)

Mom came home for lunch. I helped her eat some chicken and steamed brocolli. I nudge her leg with my nose if she forgets to give me a bite. And I almost always get the last bite. I think that's love! Then...she took me on a nice walk and I had a little lunchtime download. Very nice. Now, I'm back in my crate waiting for 4:30 to be sprung like the wiggling happy dog that I am.

That reminds me...

My pal Atley is such a born leader that he was able to get a whole bunch of doggies singing with him at the vets yesterday. They formed a choir. Hehe...that makes me laugh. It got me thinking about how things have changed since I moved into the neighborhood. The fire engines go off and all of us doggies howl together. Mom thinks I started that. She doesn't remember howling before last April. Cool!

read this. I HATE when mom puts frontline plus on me! I roll around on the couch or grass and try to get it off! Then, I am depressed for hours. Now, we see this. Mom is now wondering if I'm having an actual adverse reaction. It's not like the ticks don't attach to me anyway; even with the frontline. Mom has heard Advantix is better and it isn't on this "bad" list but Advantix can't be used in houses with kittehs and we have 2! What do you guys think?

Time to find a nice dog a furrever home...

April 20th 2009 7:00 am

Hi pup pals! My very most excellent friends, Bodhi and his pack have a foster dog named Sandy and it's time to try to find her a permanent furrever home. She is a very nice dog but is not fitting in well with the Bodhi pack and she deserves her very own home. Here is what her foster mom said about her:

Here's what I can tell you about Sandy:

1. She seems to favor men.
2. She LOVES attention.
3. She listens very well - won't jump up on furniture unless invited to do so.
4. Once shown the boundaries of the yard, she stays within them.
5. She needs to be an only dog - she's dominant and doesn't deal well with other dogs ....especially females.
6. She LOVES to eat and will protect her food from the other dogs. She isn't food aggressive as I can take her dish from her without a problem.
7. She needs to be with someone that will have time to love and adore her - something that she craves and deserves.
8. She's not spayed (probably part of my problems with her and the rest of the pack).

I put her pictures on my page but you can look at her here and here and here!

If any of you pups know of anyone who needs to be saved by a dog, please pawmail me and I will put you in touch with Sandy's foster mom. They live near Pittsburgh. I'm sure we could get a dogster railroad going if the opportunity is there :) OMD! I forgot...Sandy has her own dogster page too! here it is.

Thanks pals and have a great Week!
Love,
Sunny

My incision looks pretty much healed up! Mom has been diligent about not letting me play too hard or swim. We went to the lake on Sunday morning (BRrrrrr...) and I went in up to my knees but didn't get my belly wet (for more than a few seconds...BOL!) As of Wednesday, I will be allowed to resume full activity. I can't wait! There is a yellow lab I met on one of my walks. I can't wait to play with him "full on".

Sam asked what Easter was like in our house. The rents decided that instead of giving eachother Easter baskets, they were going to buy eachother an "Easter laptop"...So...there are now 2 computers in the house to take their time away from me. Hmph! Then, I got put in my crate as they galavanted off to the nice Easter dinner at Elizabeth's house (Elizabeth is my cousin who likes to feed me ice cream). I hear they had an easter egg hunt and there were over 120 easter eggs to be found. Apparantly, mom played with a ridiculously cute terrier named Rocky. She took lots of pictures and they will be posted on my page soon. Mom is going to try to get Rocky's mom to make him a dogster page. Finally, the rents came home to spring me from my crate and they had 2 pieces of roast beef wrapped up for me. Deeeelish! Moon and Bean got nothin! Happy Easter to me :)

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks..

Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: 'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'

As I told my love Louie, mom has put me on a diet...gasp! My dogtor told her I'm fat (hmph!) and that I will get even fatter now that I'm spayed. So...here's my new menu:

1)1/2 of a cup of dry food twice a day with a little ground chicken sprinkled on top.
2)A smattering of baby carrots or tiny little old mother hubbard dog bones (tiny, I tell you!) throughout the day.
3) Several bites of whatever mom is eating when she is kind enough to put a piece to my mouth as I am sitting with my head on her lap
4) The cat's food whenever I can get my grubby little mouth on it.

I used to get a WHOLE cup of food twice a day and a WHOLE lot more treats. I'm starving!!!!!!! I guess mom wants to keep me healthy and looking hot for my Louie but he would love me fat; I'm sure of it! We could go review restaurants together! Waaaah...I want to go to Michigan!!

Mom will take 3rd in the "just for fun" office pool WHEN UNC wins tonight! Someone else also has UNC picked to win but his bracket looks a whole lot better than mom's in the approach to the final game. Mom says "it's not how you drive, it's how you arrive" (hmm...that sounds more like Golf) and she didn't arrive too well but it's still good for 3rd WHEN UNC wins tonight. We are going to give our winnings to the rescue that saved Rhapsody in Blue and all the other beautiful pitties.

So...the peeps picked me up from the vet at 3:30. I was very excited to see them and jumped on them and made squeeky noises. My Dr. said "keep her calm". Yea, right. Hehe. Mom sat in the back of the car with me while we drove home. I liked that. Then we went inside and I laid down, got up, walked around, wimpered, etc.... I was acting a little wierd but the Dr. told them I might do that. No pain meds until the morning so the peeps were hoping I wasn't in pain. Mom made some chicken soup so I got a little chicken and dinner a little earlier than I was supposed to but I was wimpering so mom thought maybe I was starving. Then, I took a little nap. I woke up at 9:00pm and was me! I smiled, I pranced, I wagged my butt and tail. Mom said "there you are" and realized that even though I was home, I wasn't back yet. I was still in my Ketamine induced twilight. I slept pretty good all night but jumped off the bed at 3am and yelped. I'm not supposed to jump off the bed for 14 days...hehe...I don't know how they plan on stopping me. Mom took me out at 3am to go pee and then she gave me my pain meds and we went back to bed. I'm up at at em this morning. I haven't pooped yet but I'm sure I will today.

Thank you to everyone for alllll your love and support! You helped me and the peeps through this more than you can ever know. Mommy didn't even have to take any medicine herself :)

Special thanks to Elvis, Stryker and all the other angels who I know were watching over me (Elvis told me so) :)

I am sleeping now so mommy is typing this for me. Our wonderful vet let my peeps stay with me while they sedated me. Mom comforted me while I got a shot and then I was sleeping. Then the tech and vet carried me off. That was much easier on me and the peeps. Moms biggest angst was leaving me there so that made it much easier; she isn't as worried about the actual surgery. Now she is waiting for the vet to call and say I'm done. :) Thanks for thinking of me and sending me good vibes. I know I have some special angels watching over me too.

Love,

Mom used the steam cleaner this weekend. She wanted to change the color of our basement carpeting from dammitwhoforgottowipethedogspaws to youcanteventellwehaveadog. Unfortunately, while the steamcleaner did a decent job, the new color is now nottoobadbutwereallyneedtodothisonceaweek.

No no Max...Nelly is rooting for UNC!

One would think that Nelly, being from CT, is rooting for U Conn however, Nelly is a die hard UNC fan! Her grandpa played for UNC or something like that. She is actually hoping that U Conn gets a butt woopin (or something like that...BOL!) Now, as far as our brackets go...why oh why oh why did my mom not realize that my Louie is from Michigan and she should have put Michigan in her final 4? Where was her head? Granted, she has UNC (for Nelly) and U Conn (not for Nelly) but Michigan and Villanova? Nope. Villanova? A PA team? We live in PA. Why didn't mom pick Villanova? Pitt? Ptooey! Louisville? Schmooyville. She should have picked her final 4 like this:
UNC: NELLY
U CONN: HUSKIES (AROOOOOooooooo)
Michigan: LOUIE
VILLANOVA: CLOSER TO CLARKS SUMMIT THAN PITTSBURGH!

UNC can still win it all and mom might end up with a little something something for me :) (first is out...someone actually has all final 4 picked right). Hmph!

We have that color carpeting too!

Dammitwhoforgottowipethedogspaws! Yup...Echo and Sam know of what they speak. It is a pawsome color for carpeting. My parents thought it was called "Ifweknewweweregettingadogwewouldhavegottentile"

I have to admit...I have a thing for black dogs. Just ask Louie. I guess opposites do attract cause I always find myself drooling over the dark doggies. Louie is very secure with our love and doesn't mind that I do "notice" other black dogs. Bodhi, Nelly (she's a girl but that doesn't matter...I still find her incredibly attractive), Maxwell, Sam, Star (also a girl), Maxwell (As in Maneeb's dog) and Ernie. Now...Ernie (who is one darn cute scottie dog) is THE diary pick of the day today! Way to go Ernie George! AROOOOOOOooooooooooo Another adorable blackie who is also a diary pick of the day today is Maxwell. Nice eye candy :)

I bark too...just like Louie.

Moms nephew stopped by at lunch to say Hi. I barked and yelled at him for like 20 minutes just like my Louie has taught me to do. Hey...I have to protect my mom and the house and the cats and I don't know her nephew and in general, I'm not too fond of people with deep voices. She kept telling me to stop and "no" and "eh eh" and "shhhh" and "Sunny!" "stop" "no" but I kept right on. Even after he gave me treats, I barked at him. I can even bark with a treat in my mouth. Finally I stopped but I didn't take my eyes of him. Finally, I walked him out and all was well again.
Peace!
P.S...Are you proud of me Louie?

Catching up with my friends!

Mom and I haven't been around much for the past week on account of vacation and all. She is back at work so the catching up can start. We haven't read through all our friends pages yet but here's what we know so far...
~Louie has taken on a new job of food critic. This seems most appropriate after his mother almost killed him by dieting. My mom knows that after a diet, one can become slightly obsessed with food so this is a natural progression for Louie.
~Bodhi beat up his dad...hehe.
~Abby and her mom decided to go bowling down a steep icy hill. Abby is ok. Her mom has a broken ass and some ice burns. She was told to start "acting her age" by the doctor. Hehe. We are all hoping Spring starts acting it's age (or season) soon there in Canada!
~Braun has a family member named Sampson who needs to be relocated :(
~Elsie Bella Pudding Pie and Sweetie are having a cool essay contest in the Second Bananas group. I'm sorry I didn't get to enter. I think I would have called my essay "Why I love Louie".
~Chipper has been jonesing. We're not sure what for but we will find out.
~Ella's peeps have dumped her at Pal's place and she's not too happy bout that!
~VERY SAD NEWS...My pal Duncan drowned in a neighbors swimming pool and is now an angel. God speed Duncan!
~Sully is celebrating his 2nd GOTCHA DAY today! Doesn't it seem like his family has loved him for way longer than 2 years? Good love is like that.
~Pennie has had to recognize the fact that her wee lass has chosen to emulate Mulligan instead of herself. I give you a quote..a quote that made me snort my kibble: "Now there is the Wee Lass. She has two Role Models to choose from: Nannie Pennie, the nurturing, firm pawed dog with manners and love to share. Or Mulligan.

Wee Lass has chosen Mulligan as her Role Model. It's as if there are now Two Mulligans living in the home, as if one Mulligan was not terrible enough for any family!

Nothing is safe from either Mulligan or the Wee Las. Mulligan can stand on his back legs to grab items. Wee Lass has telescoping arms. Mulligan opens all back packs, purses, and bags, strewing the contents hither and yon. Wee Lass opens all back packs, purses and bags, strewing the contents hither and yon. Mulligan jumps up and steals food off the table. Wee Lass climbs onto the kitchen table."

~Magnuson has a wolf pup joining his extended family. He is hoping he is not mistaken for a large deer at some point in the wolf's future (we are hoping for that as well, dear Mag!)
~Little Dubs is looking forward to getting marshmallow peeps for easter.
~Dylan has launched his plan to never lose the prime sleeping spot again!
~Gorgeous Jack was in a dog show. Have to read up on how he did but boy is he gorgeous!!!!!!!!
~Star, Tim and Winnie are getting very excited about Wabbit Season. I don't know what Nunya is yet but I will find out.
~Maya continues to have fun at doggy day care including a little mud wrestling
~Nikki was a diary pick of the day! I offered to keep it a secret from Bean but she said Bean could know. That's just mean...don't you think? Hehe.
~Dexter went out for a steak dinner and had vodka. The steak was rotten but the vodka was good.
~Sam made some reference to a movie in one of his entries and Riley was able to identify the movie, thus winning a rosette! I read the quote and would not have been a contender!
~Riley made someone's day just by being adorable! (We loved that entry!)
~Ava was turned into a bunny...just like me.
~Izzy showed her softer side and accepted some well needed lovins from her mama...awww!
~Jia has turned into a bunny...just like me and Ava
~Sheba has a beautiful new RB picture on her page
~Rusty is now known as Dr. Rusty, M.D (medical dog)
~TY is starting to get presents in the mail for a contest he won...cool!

~The purple girls of Oregon have had some snazzy new look added to their page thanks to the talented (and wounded) hands of Flicka and Lucas' mom.
~Saphira continues to run and go on long walks (Being very Saphira-like)
~My wonderful angel friend Sheba has been sending lots of inspirational poems to her mom and friends. She was an inspiration as a dog...of course, she would be as an angel too!
~Pepper had a great weekend with lots of playing, walks, rawhides and pigs ears. She was almost too tired to eat. WHAT?!
~Maxwell is having trouble keeping his favorite sleeping spot. He might need to try Dylan's trick!

**This just in...Maxwell has a stinky aroma.

Well...I will go try to fully catch up with my pals and if I missed anything exciting, send me a pmail so I know :)

I missed you all :)

I LOVED IT! I stayed with my 2 labbie friends, Judgie and Gracie and their mom while mom went to AC for 2 days. I had sooooo much fun! I played with Gracie non-stop...I went on long walks with them and even long car rides. I like riding in the car when there are other doggies with me! When mom got home, I squeeked and squeeled. She thinks it's cause I was SO excited to see her. True. But. I also was telling her about my stay at PAWS spa. Mom said she had a good time too and that she kept track of her brackets while in AC (of course) and all final 8 are still intact :)

Special note to Louie: thanks for all my well wishes and thoughts. You do not have to open any can of woop ass on Judge and Gracie. They were VERY nice to me! We looked for Jared when we saw the Michigan marching band.

Special note to Saphira: I brought chicken. It was a big hit!

Special note to Ella: Tell your peeps the slot machines were especially sucky this time around. Better luck to them :)

Me too Ella!

It started out a little strange. Mom took me for a 2 hour car ride up to upstate NY to visit her old house and the house where she lived with Stryker, Sydney and Rocky (and Max too for some time...he was her in law dog...maybe mom will scrounge up a picture of him too :). I hated the drive. I had to stop once to go poopy, once after I threw up (got to get out and go potty again then too) and then another time after I threw up (potty again). But...eventually we made it and I had a very drooly face and was happy to get out of the car. We got to the house and there waiting for me was an adorable dog named Josie. Her full name is Josephina Dogino (she is Italian) but she was named Josie cause she lives with 2 pussycats (Josie and the pussycats....true story :). Josie looks just like my great pal Lucy-Lucy. Mom took a picture of us together on her cell phone but doesn't know how to dowload those yet. She'll get some help from the young-uns where she works...they'll know (Caitland!) So...I got out of the car and I had like 6 acres to run on! Me, Josie and our humans walked around the property and me and Josie played and played and played. Mom says she is sure I have cattle dog in me cause I would crouch down on the ground with one paw out like I was stalking Josie and then I would charge her. We went up to the house and the playing continued. We played in the house, outside the house, Josie even showed me a pond on the property so I went for a little swim. here is a picture of Sydney on the property I got to play on last night. Pretty nice, huh? We finally left after a 5 hour visit and I can't wait to go back! Mom says not to be morbid or anything but that is my home should anything ever happen to both my humans. It's nice to have a back up family! We are going back again in a month. I can't wait! AROOOOOOOoooooo

P.S...I slept and drooled the whole way home but no puking or stopping. It was much better than the trip there :)

Please click here to vote for Miracle. She is the wonderful angel sister of Spike and RB Sheba. She passed away from IMHA. Her mom has been working diligently along with Mica's mom to help raise funds and awareness for IMHA. Through their deaths, soooo many other doggies will be able to live long healthy lives. Miracle is 24 hours away from winning and her mom plans to donate much of her winnings to Mica's IMHA research team.

Go Miracle and say HI to Stryker and Sydney for me.
MWAH!

We will be supervised on Sunday while their mom is home with us but on Monday morning, she will go off to work. OMD! Mom is getting palpitations just typing this for me. One of my bestest pals Izzy (not "world domination be mine Izzy" but another Izzy) has a brother named Ernie George (EG, as he's called). EG is known as the "top banana" in that family and Izzy is sometimes overshadowed but she knows that she is smart enough, good enough and gosh darn it, people and pups love her! Still, I was a little reluctant to tell her that I found myself smitten (in a totally platonic way Louie, I swear!) with a little Scottie dog like EG. His name is Otis and I got to play with him yesterday. Here is my pmail to Izzy:

OK...I gotta tell you this. Mom took me out for a nice walk in the sun yesterday after work. As we were walking home, we saw HIM! Yup, OTIS, the black Scottie who lives across the road at the auto shop. All winter, he's been cooped up inside and mom has taken me over there on occassion to give him a pigs ear and play with him. I HATE the way it smells in there though (like oil) and I drool and pull mom out the door. Yesterday though, Otis was in his outdoor kennell. I looked at mom as we approached him (He was barking at us) and I said to mom "can we go say Hi?". Mom took me across the road and we went inside and asked if I could say Hi or would that bother Otis since he was in a kennel. It smelled like oil in there so I drooled and pulled mom to the door and then it happened! She took me over to Otis's kennel and we sniffed eachother through the kennel. I made monkey noises at him and he barked happily at me. He spun around and around and I was able to see what an adorable little thing he is! Scotties really are ridiculously cute!!!!! Don't be mad at me! I think you are BEAUTIFUL but scotties are just ridiculously cute; don't you think?

WOof,
Sunny

Stryker has announced 2 more angels at RB. Mom found out about Sheba this morning and went to bed last night knowing that Billie-Bob was on his way. She was in the shower this morning and she yelled to my other human "Sheba went to the bridge too this morning". They talked about how sad that was and mom said "she was 15...her body couldn't handle the infection". Then she said, "I don't ever want Sunny to get old. I want her to be like that little mouse on the Green Mile that lives forever". Me? A mouse? That made me laugh and it made mom laugh a little too. God speed Billie-Bob and Sheba! AROOOOoooooooooooo

My mom has a friend in British Columbia. A while back, she rescued a little cat off the street. His name was Barney. He was very sick and his new mom did everything she could but he died a few months ago from cancer and general body breakdown. In his honor, she formed a group dedicated to trapping, neutering and re-releasing feral cats. Mom says if you've ever been to Atlantic City and looked under the boardwalk, you know what a feral cat population looks like (what are you doggies doing looking under the boardwalk, anyway? BOL!) Mom just remembered she's going to AC the end of the month...better start stocking up on cat food and treats :)

Anyhow, back to the reason for my diary entry...Please check out her website. The little scrawny black and white cat in the upper left corner and at the bottom of the page is Barney...RIP! Mom says she knows where all her spare change will be going this year :)

Saturday afternoon: Mom took me over to my pals Gracie and Judge's house. I will be staying with them when mom goes away for 3 days...yikes. Saturday was to be a practice run. Mom was going to leave me there for 2 hours. When we got there, Gracie and Judge's mom suggested we go for a walk. We went on a long walk. It took like an hour. 3 adorable labbies walking side by side. Mom wished she had her camera. I was really good and would occasionally stop to lick one of my lab pals face. When we got back to their house, we played some in the yard but more in the house. I like to play hide and seek with Gracie. Then their mom asked my mom is she still wanted to leave me there for a few hours but reminded my mom that "the first 2 hours are the most difficult for the dog; why would we want to do that to her twice?" Hmmm....mom thought, "why would I?" So...I got to go home with mom. Hooray!! Mom knows that when she leaves m there towards the end of the month, that I will cry when she first leaves but then I will be fine AND I love Gracie and Judgie and mom has peace of mind that we get along great! Then, on Sunday, we went to the park for another nice long walk. I got to sniff lots of other doggies; I met a dog called an "aussiedoodle". He was huge and a mix between an Australian Shepherd and a Standard Poodle. Then I got to chase my ball off leash in a big open field. Then we went for ice cream and I got my own cup of vanilla yogurt. When we got home, I was so exhausted, I slept the rest of the day. Mom liked that. Hehe. This morning, I saw her getting ready for work so I moped around the house thinking "I hate Mondays". I can't wait for Saturday.....

What a beautiful spring like morning....

March 7th 2009 5:28 am

I let mom sleep until 7:30. That made her very happy. She got up with a little spring in her step. After she fed me, Moon, Bean, let Bean out, took me out to pee, cleaned the kitchen, said to me those 11 words I long to hear "do you want to go for a walk? I'll take you". See if it's 8 words (minus the "I'll take you") there's a chance she's just asking. BUT....this time it was all 11 words. I talked to her while she put on her hiking shoes. "hurry hurry hurry". Off we went. It was a great morning. Mom explained to me that it was very "spring like" and while it's still winter and "winter will probably be back"; it sure was a gift to have a nice spring like morning. We walked up my favorite hill, down another hill, walked to the car wash where mom always deposits my poop bag, down the road, into a nice little field where there was lots of piles of deer poo, then she took me to my favorite little creek and it was running free but there was ice on the edges and the water had made rivers through them. It was beautiful. Mom thought, too bad MICHAEL KLOTH isn't here to take this picture. It sure as hell is better than a DUCK! By the way, have you voted for Michael's adorable dog photo yet? If not, here is the link. You will notice that the adorable little dog photo is being beaten by a DUCK! C'mon doggies....help me overturn this clear injustice. We will not be taken over by a duck! OK...back to me; so...I waded into the water and chewed on some of the ice. Then we went home, I had such a happy bounce to my step as mom continued to explain that this will be my first Spring as a dog...I was just a baby puppy last spring and don't remember much of anything except learning to pee and poo outside. When we got home, mom dried me off with my towel that lives outside for such occasions. My towel sent to me by Bodhi and his pack. I love it! Now, mom has relocated back to the computer and I am happily looking out the window. We are going to the park later and then to visit with my friends who I will be staying with at the end of the month (yikes!)

Peace out,
Sunny Lee (happy it's spring like...hehe)

I got to go back to work with mom! I barked like crazy and embarrassed her. It is Spring like outside and there were lots of people around. I was just saying HIIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHI! Mom let me run around the barking lot and let me chase snowballs until I calmed down. Then, the nurses I wanted to meet came outside to meet me instead of me going inside to meet them. I showed them my tricks and let them pet me. Moms co-worker Bill came outside to play with me too. It was pawsome!! I can't wait to go back. :)

OMD! Mom let me out the back door this morning. I ran around like I do while she had her coffee and then I decided to run around to the front of the house to check out my favorite fox hole. I wouldn't come when she called me. I made her come out for me. She was wearing slippers (those really are!) and sweats and came out the front door. She walked down the steps and then down the little concrete walk which is ever so steep. She wiped out on a thin sheet of ice that had formed overnight. BOOM! Butt hit first, then flat on back, then head went back and hit the pavement. I RAN over to her to see if she was ok and put my face in hers. She pushed me away. She was mad. She tried to get up and we were both slipping on the ice. We finally made it up and back to the steps and back in the house. I checked her over good (Dr. Bo Cephus would be proud of me). She's ok....just sore. Her pupils work and everything. She said I am going to end up killing her. Sigh....I'm just being me. Highly energetic, fun loving, deer poop eating, fox hole sniffing me. Gotta love me! :)

The Name Game

As you read earlier, I asked my pal Bo Cephus where he got his name. I had been wondering about Bodhi and was so happy to learn how he got his cool name. Then, I learned about Nelly and now I got to learn all about Pongo, Izzy, Maxwell and Sam. Very sweet!

Here's my story:
Mom loves the scene in city slickers when the baby cow (calf, I think) was born. He was named "Norman". Mom said when she turned 40 (the age the city slickers guys were when they went on their cattle drive), she would get a golden retriever and name him Norman. Mom turned 40 and no dog. Timing wasn't right. Shortly before hitting 41, mom was looking on petfinder (just "looking") and saw me. I wasn't a golden but mom had already decided they were going the rescue route and not buying a golden. She wanted a yellow lab mix (to name Norman) but she fell in love with ME online and I was a girl. Her 2nd choice was SUNNY cause she had a MOON and a BEAN (close to BEAM) and wanted a SUN. Our next dog might be DIPPER...hehe. My given name at the rescue was Brandy, which is very pretty, but it was quickly changed to Sunny. It's funny when Moon and I fight, mom will yell "Moon and Sun" and that makes us all BOL!

P.S...in case you didn't notice, I'm white; not yellow. Surprise. Mom thinks Stryker had something to do with that :)

OK...So now we know how Bodhi got his name and Sweet Nelly is named after a mistress (not the cool hip hop guy) but here's one that was consuming my little puppy head last night: How did Dr. Bo Cephus get his name? We know the Dr. part cause he's always fixing the other pups in the pack but Bo Cephus? Where did that name come from? My mom is always talking about my great friends and my other human always says I know..."blah, blah, blah and Bodhi and Bo Cephus"...BOL!!!!!

Oh no! Mom is on a mission again. Sigh....you know what happens when she gets all "missioney"...BOL! She sets little goals and won't stop until she reaches them...sigh.... THIS TIME, she wants to see Lyle's boss man's photo on the TOP ROW of the contest. That means he needs atleast 100 more votes. C'mon doggies...It's easy and FREE! All you have to do is click here and then enter your valid email address and then vote for MICHAEL KLOTH (Lyle's bossman). Mom has voted with every email address she has (sigh...) and hasn't gotten any junk mail or anything...just the satisfaction of knowing that Lyle's bossman helps tons of homeless animals find homes and who wouldn't want to vote for a person like that.

Yikes....

Mom made plans to take me to my pals house this Saturday. Gracie and Judge. I like them well enough. I like their mom too. She was my CGC trainer and is very sweet. Why the yikes? It turns out mom is going to leave me there for 2 hours!! as a practice run and then 2 weeks later, I will stay there for 3 days...gulp! I hope my temporary mom will be able to spoil me in the manner of which I have become accustomed. I will stare at her and make monkey noises while she eats. I will take over her bed. I will stare at her and make monkey noises at 6am until she gets up and takes me out. I hope her dogs don't become spoiled in the manner to which I have become accustomed. I am very good at turning "strict" mommies into puddles of yummy gravy which I can, in turn, eat...BOL!!!!!

It's so easy and FREE to vote and help the animals.

My friend Sam got spanked. His friends wrote him things like "I'm so sorry you got spanked. Maybe if they fed you more you wouldn't have to eat shoes" and "I hope your butt feels better soon".

My pal Nelly and around 50 other great pals sent me a bag of bones with nice messages of friendship and love.

Adorable little dubs writes very adorable yet difficult to read diary entries so her furrsib/adoptive father Samoa translates every diary entry for her.

Pepper and Rusty's mom hasn't been feeling well so they have been sent the Power of the Paw since that, of course, affects them.

I could go on and on and on...but you get my point, don't you? WE doggies really are wonderful loyal friends! I think if this were a human site, it would go something like this:

~Well, you deserved that butt swat. If you ate my shoe, I'd kick you in the crotch.
~I sent you a bag of bones. You owe me dinner
~I can't read a damn word you're writing
~Are you still complaining?

My pal Roxy uses the Cardiac Claw to get attention from her dad. It made me think of my own paws and how I use them as torturing devices. Mom has very tender hips. You know, the sides of them (could be because cellulite is painful) hurt if they get pushed. These are one of the 18 known trigger points in Fibromyalgia and while mom doesn't have any other spots, those 2 in particular hurt like the dickens if you push them. Well, last night while mom was sleeping, I streeeeeeetched in the night and pushed my paw right into that spot. Woke her up. She actually put a pillow between me and her hip. Hmph! See if I ever try to massage her in her sleep again. And the feet licking? That will stop too.

It's raining treats! (and cats, hehe)

It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen!

Mom and I were outside playing ball. Bean came along like he likes to do and teased me. I chased him up a tree. WOW! He can climb a tree. That is so cool! I stood at the bottom of the tree looking up at him and then it happened. He slid down the tree and landed on my head. I wished and wished for that to happen and it did. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I loved it! Mom laughed. She said "OMD. Sorry Bean. I guess it's hard to stay attached to a tree right after you got your nails cut". BOL!!!!!!!! Bean sprung off my head and ran off into the woods but not before I got a reeeeally good sniff of his butt :)

I think this is good...

Mom bought a new computer! The old one was very slow and sometimes (a lot!) mom would get "kicked off" while playing scrabble or poker. This would put her in a bad mood. She spent a lot of time backing up all her files onto CD's and flash drives and finally, brought it home. A new baby Dell. She hooked it up; reinstalled poker and other important programs; reloaded some important things like Turbo Tax and pictures of me and vwallah...we are up and running. It is reallyreally fast and the poker works good (very important :). I think this is good. I just hope mom still makes time for ME :)

She came home at lunch...Yippee!!
I sprang free from my crate...
I grabbed a blankie and danced around with it in my mouth...
I ran to the door...
No dice.
We went upstairs....
I jumped on her....
She took me to the door...
and let me out...
alone...
"Go potty"...she said.
I squinted.
It's raining.
I came back in.
She said "I'll go with you"
and we went outside...
she stood under the overhang...
I went and peed...
No walk.
Sigh...

BUT...I got to play the "chase the carrots game" and got to say HIhihihhihihihihihihihihihihiiiii!!!!! To Bean and Hi to Moon. I layed on my ottoman and then, before I knew it...
Back in the crate with a treat.

But...it sure was a nice lunch visit :)
Hooray!!!!!

Just one of the dogs available at Crossing Paths Rescue

In honor of my birthday

February 26th 2009 8:04 am

Mom just sent a $75.00 donation to the rescue that saved my life. I was pulled from a high kill shelter in Alabama while still in my mommy's belly (not really her belly, per se, but you know :). Thank God for Crossing Paths Rescue. They are a small group of people who work tirelessly to pull dogs and puppies out of the horendous conditions down South. "Hundreds of puppies and dogs are put to sleep daily in the South". Me and my litter were amongst the lucky ones. We got a truck ride to PA and NJ and are all in happy homes. So much work needs to be done down there. My new pal Duncan and his mom just transported some dogs from Louisiana to PA and RI. That's how Henson got to come to PA :)

Mom called MaryEllen at Crossing Paths Rescue to tell her that the donation was in honor of my birthday and could we sponsor a dog currently in rescue. I think this shall become a tradition :)

My mom survived!

February 25th 2009 11:08 am

To Those of You Born
1930 - 1979

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE
1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get
tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs
covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and
when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads. (mom once rode her bike into a parked car cause she was riding with her eyes closed to see what it would be like to be blind...BOL!)

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster
seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. (and icky water fountains in schools)

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually
died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with
real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing...that's why! (so true)

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back
when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down
the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a
few times, we learned to solve the problem. (mom once tore up her knee roller skating down a big hill...no brakes...hmmmm)

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games,
no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's,
no cell phones, no person al computers, no Internet and no chat rooms
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits
from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us
forever. (eew...I never ate worms)

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and
tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very
many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the
bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had
to learn to deal with disappointment. (Sigh...I'm still not over getting cut from Cheerleading)

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They
actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers
and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal
with it all.
If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS! (Aww...shucks. I am pretty good at overcoming adversity. Thanks Cheerleading coach...you b***h... :)

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as
kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for
our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and
lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ? (Woof, she would NEVER...she might trip and hurt ME :)

I love my mom but...

THANK YOU to all my wonderful pals who sent me Happy Birthday Wishes. A special thanks to Rusty and Pepper for sending me a nice new pink bobo and some deelish howie's heart treats. Those are yummy! Mom has been sick with a GI bug so we didn't even leave the house. Hmph! Actually, she ran out to the store to get crackers, ginger ale, soup, etc...and forgot to get me frosty paws! Luckily, my friends came through and I had a nice toy and treats right in my mailbox! AND...Bean decided to play with me on my birthday so we posted a new video. My birthday, therefore, consisted of:
a) playing nurse to the sickies
b) playing with my new toys from Rusty and Pepper
c) playing with Bean.

Hmmm....play, play, play. It doesn't seem like today was much different :)

My Louie was attacked
Not by a stranger or a wild animal
But by his Grandma!
A person he trusts to love him
and pet him
and feed him
and share his chaisse lounge with him
and take him to McDonalds
and buy him Chorizo beans.
NOT TO HIT HIM.
His butt will heal
but his big giant heart was wounded
he was offended
he cried
AND THEN...
he forgave
and loved
and waited again to be pet
and fed
Because dogs have the biggest hearts in the world and know how to love at a level even humans don't....UNCONDITIONALLY!!!!!!!!

P.S...My mom has broken down and spanked me on a very rare occasion. More often, I just get yelled at but no matter what she does, guess who pays the worst price for it...THE MOMMY! The guilt she feels when I shrivel is more than any punishment I can bestow on her :)

I sit by her when she's on the computer and I yell at her but she always walks me and then comes back in and plops back down at the computer and back to scrabble. Clearly, she is misunderstanding my yelling. How many times can I pee or poop? I said "picture"; not "poop". Hmph!

I got a beautiful package from my love, Louie. I got a great card with a kiss from Lou inside. I got 2 toys. One was a bobo that makes a crazy monkey noise when I bite it in the right spot. One was a pawsome red heart stuffy toy with a squeeker. Louie played with that toy before me! I could smell him, taste him and feel him all over it. It made me crazy! I played with it for a long time before I finally de-stuffed and de-squeeked it. Mom took video of me playing with the toy and the squeeker separately...BOL! I also got some tasty treats and a BEE-utiful collar. Mom will take some pictures of me wearing my new collar soon. It matches the "adorable" tag he sent me for Christmas! She's lucky she didn't break my leg in her irritable sleep. I would have cried like the dickens and that would have woke her up but good.

Another night of Laser fun

I got to chase the laser light again last night. Fun! Then...I saw "Hunter" (the little Beagle who lives across the street from me) going out to do his business so I darted across the street to say Hi. Mom had to hurry up and put her UGG's on and come get me. She had to be careful going down the hill (that's where she slipped in June and broke her leg) so it took a while for her to get to me. By the time, she got to me, our neighbor was calling the house to say "Sunny's here"...hehe...I peed in their yard whilst I waited for mom. I can be so bold at times, yet cute. Hence, the title of my diary and what do you know? I am a diary pick today. HQ must have sensed that I was being especially "bold but cute" this week and decided to honor me. Thanks HQ and most importantly to all my pals who sent me pmails and rosettes. You guys are the best!!!!!!!!

Please give this dog some fast food!

"Ouch, ooph, Agh, Sunny MOVE! Ow Sunny, that's my t** you just stepped on" That's what I hear every morning as I jump up on the bed and walk across the mommy to tell her it's time to get up. This morning, she said "you're like a bull in a china shop". What does that mean?

I am all better...

Bean tried to kill me!

Roxy is going to love this one. She is counting how many of my lives I have used up (I'm like a cat) and I think we are now down to FIVE lives left. I better be careful; at this rate, I won't make it past 3 :(

Anywhoo...here's what happened. Bean, the scroungy cat that he is, left something stinky and yummy for me to check out under the deck (atleast that is what mom is supposing happened!) Mom noticed that I have been kinda interested in the deck for the last few days. Yesterday, she let me roam around outside alone yet supervised from the warmth of the kitchen. Mom saw me disappear under the deck and came out for me. I couldn't have been under there a full minute before mom came out and called me. I didn't come so she looked under the deck and saw me standing there chewing something. She yelled. I came. We went inside and that was that. A few hours later, I threw up. A lot! I threw up 11 times! 6 times in the house; 5 times outside. I felt really bad about throwing up inside so I tried to hold it but everytime she let me out, I let it out. I was weak and lethargic. When I wasn't throwing up, I was drooling like crazy. I wouldn't eat or drink. I was "sick as a dog". Mom was very worried. She kept thinking about my pal Bernadette who died after eating garbage and deer guts. Mom didn't know what I ate but she was scared I'd be toxic soon. She took me for a walk to make sure I was able to walk and I was even though I didn't really want to go. I had a small amount of diarrhea. Sigh...mom didn't like that either. When we got back, I jumped on the couch to sleep. Mom said if I threw up again, we were going to the animal hospital but I didn't. After an hour nap, mom brought Bean over to me to see if I would be interested. She knew if I didn't care about playing with Bean, I must be really sick. She held him up to my nose and let me sniff him. My tail thumped like she's never seen or heard. Then, she pretended to leave the house and then came back in to see if I would act normal. I ran and got a pigs ear and came over to greet her all wiggly like I always do. I have to have something in my mouth when I greet :) She figured I was better. She even let me sniff Moon and I thumped my tail hard. Then, she brought me fresh cold water and I drank it. By last night, I was starving but they wouldn't feed me :( This morning, I had breakfast and everything is fine except I only peed a little bit on my walk this morning and no poop. Mom says I'm probably dehydrated a little and she will come home at lunch to walk me.

SO....thanks a lot Bean! I did not enjoy getting sick from whatever you left for me under the deck!

Mom tried to kill me

All I did was sit by the table and hint that I would like a taste of her steak. As the piece of steak** was handed to me, I thought "score". The next thing I know my body feels like it's on fire. What the *&*YT^ is happening to me? I shrivel up and look at my butt. I run in circles. I run to the bathroom and hide. Mom can't figure out what's wrong with me. She looks outside to see if a bear smelled the steak too. No Bear. She tries to give me a carrot. I won't take it. I won't take anything from her. It must have been her who did this to me. I was fine until she gave me that steak. I hide from her. I won't kiss her. Finally, she takes me outside and gets me to eat some snow. Then we play. Then, we come inside and I get some baby carrots. Those help cool my mouth as well. I feel better and the rest of the night is ok except I'm still a little offended and pouty. This morning, all was right again as I took my rightful position on moms pillow to tell her it's time to get up.

**The offending steak, for those of you who are wondering, was on the same plate as the HOT italian peppers/juice mom cooked up to go with them. My little puppy mouth didn't know what hit it. Don't call the ASPCA though, she didn't mean it and I'm ok.

LOUIE CRACKS ME UP!

Mom found a way for ME to exercise without HER

February 4th 2009 10:53 am

Mom was playing on the computer (no, mom...that does NOT constitute exercise and your butt is getting big) and Bean was watching the cursor move back and forth. Hmmm....mom thought and she got out one of those laser lights she bought for Moon and Bean a while back but tired of it easily (mom is like that). She put the laser on the computer screen and Bean was mildly amused. THEN she aimed it at the floor and I went nuts! Wow...I like to chase that light. I want to eat it! It was night time. Mom had a brilliant idea. She took me outside and let me run around the yard chasing the light. Around and around and around the yard, up the yard, down the yard, into the woods, out of the woods, in the snow, I dug in the snow. I got a lot of exercise and running out of the deal but I never caught that darn light! Know how much exercise mom got? She stood on the patio and moved her hand to aim the light. She laughed a little. Me thinks that burned around 10 calories. We came back inside. I was pooped. I passed out on the couch. Mom plopped her butt back in the computer chair. Sigh.......

Mom came home for lunch today. My other human made chicken noodle soup last night for supper and mom liked it so much, she came home for lunch to have some more. Guess who she shared with? Yup. Me. I got the chicken and carrots. Wowee! It was good. Then, we went for a walk cause it was actually sunny outside. Now, I'm back in my crate and waiting for supper. Maybe they'll put a ladle of soup on my kibble? A doggy can dream, can't she?

There's an endless story
There's the pup I chose
There's my baby doggy
And all the things she deserves
For being such a good girl Sunny...

OK...Last entry about my vulva (we hope!)

Dr. Abby says it is 80% corrected. I can be spayed. Mom asked about staying in my crate with me. Dr. Abby said she will make an exception in our case and let mom take me home the same night. I will be all sedated but get to sleep in my own crate at home with mom on the floor next to me. Ahhhh.....

In other vet news, Dr. Abby said I'm fat. She didn't say "fat" but she said I lost my waist...hehe. Mom told her I'm already on Blue Weight control and she said good. Now...when will someone put my mom on a diet? She's lost her waist too....

Hehe....
