Strut your Mutt '08

Sat. was strut your mutt and we took rocko and sig to get some socialization and compete in a few things. At first we were hesitant to take either dog because it was supposed to be pretty hot (it ended up being rather cool in the shade so that was good). Also, Rocko tends to get too excited around other dogs and starts being bad on the leash.

However we couldnt imagine taking one and not the other so we brought them both and Rocko could not have done better! We were so proud of him. He had his illusion collar on and was just the perfect dog. It made me happy when i saw other owners struggling with their dogs.

Oh yeah, Strut your mutt is put on by the tusc. county kennel club as a fun day of activities and contests for all dogs and their owners. They had search and rescue, agility, rally-o, and K9 unit dogs giving demonstrations. They also had contests for prizes (Rocko won a stuffed bear in the "catch as many balls in 30 seconds" game) and free use of rally-o and agility courses. Our vet. Jeff was their with his crew doing micro-chipping, and many different booths were there for local vendors and organizations.

There was a gift basket auction in which i might have bought a little too much (three baskets and a dog house) which resulted in two really nice leather leashes, 3 nice leather collars, 5 clickers, some stickers, multiple canine cool wraps, and some other fun stuff. Over all i think it was a deal (45 bucks for a large barn style outdoor dog box!). It was for a great cause though so it was well worth it

after the auction was the longest/shortest tail (adult/junior), dog/owner look alike (adult/junior), Best trick, biggest smallest dog/puppy. and of course a costume contest.

We entered Rocko into the costume contest for the fun of it and because his pumpkin costume from halloween last year is just the greatest! Unfortunately, he outweighed all the other contestants by about 60.lbs and we were outnumbered by crazy yappy ankle-biter dogs and their owners and we lost... :O( but it was still great fun and rocko won his new stuffed bear which he seems to carry around like a baby and for the first time ever hasnt ripped the stuffing out within a half hour of having it!

Anyway it was a great time and we cant wait to do it again next year when sig can enjoy something other than being the most popular dog there (you cant deny the cuteness factor) I made sure to bring rocko into all situations where people were fawning over sig so that he didnt feel left out and people realized his cuteness too.

Hello, a few weeks after panzer's death we decided that it was too quiet and all though we are taking a puppy from panzer's breeder we also want to get another one nowso we dont have two puppies house training at once and so rocko doesnt get to used to being the only dog. So today we are going to pick up a pup we reserved last week and tonight rocko will have a new brother!

I'll miss my sister...

I'll miss you Panzer, you were the best sister i could have asked for.
