Tuesday, Jun 10, Mom put me in the car and we drove about an hour. I didn't know where we were going. I've never heard of Jackson, La before or East or West Feliciana. When we arrived, I could tell we were way out in the country somewhere. My human aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins were there! And, I was so happy to see my dog cousin, Rosie, too!! But, where was I? I could smell all sorts of new smells. There was a lot of grass and trees and blueberry bushes too. I was so excited to explore the area and see what's what!

The adults said we were at the "farm." There was a pretty, old, white farm house with steps going up to a big front porch. I enjoyed chilling on that front porch, but, first I had to explore.

Within the first 5 minutes, I sniffed out something interesting in the grass. I pawed and dug at it, but Mom kept saying "no" and tried to get me away. Well, I rolled in it anyway. It was great. My dog cousin, Rosie, rolled in it too. I really don't know what we did wrong, but the adults were all grossed out, and we both got a bath with a hose in the front yard in the grass. What a way to start a trip!! With a bath!!!???

I really liked playing with my dog cousin and my two human cousins too. Rosie and I ran and ran like I've never run before. There were two barns to check out and sniff. I also checked out the pond. I didn't get in it though. I liked running through the high grass that came up to my neck.

We spent the night there. Mom and I stayed in the guest room. At first, mom made me sleep on the floor, but I eventually got on the bed during the night. Mom knows I like to sleep on the bed!!

The next day, my mom, human aunt, human cousins, and dog cousin walked down to Thompson's Creek and bluff. (Well, Rosie and I ran, but the humans walked.) Rosie led the way. Good thing she knew where we were going, because I sure didn't. There were some wooden steps leading down to a creek with rocks and sand. Everyone else was down there playing in the sand and water, but I was a bit skeptical. Hmmmm.....I had never seen that before. After I peeked over the bluff about 3 or 4 times, I figured it was OK to go on down the steps. I figured "Well, if they can all do it, so can I."

That was an adventure for me. I ran through the water and it splashed all over my legs and belly. The water was cool and refreshing. I walked through the sand. That was fun too. My human aunt had laid out a beach towel to sit on, but I messed it all up with my paws and got sand on it! You don't need to sit on a clean beach towel!! You're supposed to get dirty! What was she thinking?!?!

My mom was laughing at my paws all covered with caked-on sand. She thought my paws looked funny and took a photo of them. I really don't see what was so funny about my paws....she's sorta crazy!! I had the best time playing in the water and sand with Rosie and my 2 human cousins. My two human girls kept dumping water on me and splashing me and laughing. I didn't mind at all, because they are so funny.

Later in the day, all the humans were eating some type of a big, red fruit on the back patio. It started off as a big, oval-shaped green thing. Then my human uncle cut it open and it was red with little black dots. They were gobbling it down. It looked so cool and refreshing, and I tried to get some too. Luckily, my two little girl cousins are kinda messy. They were dripping a lot on the concrete, and I got the chance to lick some up. Ha!! I heard the grown-ups say it was "watermelon." I've never heard of that before! My two girls are very messy, and I managed to get watermelon dripped onto my head and on the tip of my nose. Mom said I was a big ole mess, and I would need another bath when we got home! I don't know why she would want to give me a bath after that!! It's just a little bit of watermelon, which seemed to be a perfectly harmless thing!!

After a fun-filled day, mom loaded up the car with our stuff. It was time to go. But, at first, I didn't want to go home because I had so much fun. She had to call me lots of times before I came to the car. Eventually, I jumped on in and slept all the way home. I was completely worn out from my adventure at the farm.

I am so glad my mom is a teacher and is off in the summer!

I'm looking forward to more summer adventures with mom and other family!!!

Yeah!!
Ciao,
Lucie
