 Likes: Pacing, sniffing, and EATING!

Favorite Food: Henry is eating Purina Senior Dog Chow, but likes pretty much anything I give him. When dinner or treat time rolls around, Henry becomes a spry young thing!

Best Tricks: Henry is awfully good at not hearing you when you call him!

Arrival Story: Henry was pulled from a pound in northeastern Ohio, where his time was running out quickly. He was brought to the pound by animal control, and he'd been picked up wearing the remnants of a very large chain. He shows characteristics of a dog who has spent his entire life on a chain and never had the opportunity to be a real companion.

Bio: Henry weighs in at about 40 lbs, and is a friendly senior gentleman. This means, though, that he comes with typical senior problems. He doesn't see or hear too well, but still gets around! Henry crates very well with hardly ever a peep. We're working on housebreaking right now. This is a completely foreign concept to him, but we're taking things one day at a time. He's getting the hang of going in and out with the other dogs, and has even managed to find the door on his own a few times!

Forums Motto: I wanna be a REAL dog!

The Groups I'm In:
♥ Camp Adoptable ♥, ♥Adopt Me♥, 10 YEARS OR OVER??? DOGS or CATS, adoptable and adopted dogs and cats, Animals in need of Adoption, Beagle Buddies, Cats And Dogs Needing Adoption NOW!, Opt to Adopt, Rescued Pets!!!!!, Second Chance Beagles, We Support Spay Neuter

Lovin' the other dogs: Henry really seems to enjoy the company of the other dogs in the house, though they don't always enjoy him. He tends to walk right over them sometimes during his pacing! He loves to sniff them; it's one of the few things that makes his tail wag. Henry loves the cats, too, even after getting smacked in the face by them a few times.
Health stuff: Aside from the hearing and sight impairments, Henry has some other issues as well: He has some arthritis in his rear end and is a little sore sometimes, but is taking a daily joint supplement to help with that. He has a large lipoma (benign fatty tumor) on a hind leg, his tail was broken at some point, and he has a couple of cysts on his eyelid. The cysts are not rubbing his eye and do not need to be removed at this point. Henry tested positive for heartworms. Please see below for more information. He also had some basic bloodwork done at his check-up, and it came back all within normal ranges. So for a dog that's falling apart, he's actually in pretty good shape!
DONATIONS NEEDED!: Since Henry's bloodwork looked good, we're planning to proceed with heartworm treatment. When that has been successfully completed, we'll have him neutered and have the cysts removed from his eyelid at the same time. Our vet is giving us a good price for heartworm treatment, and we're trying to raise as much in donations to help pay for it as we can. Our goal is $150. IF YOU CAN HELP WITH A DONATION, please send a check or money order made payable to The Cross Vet Clinic. Please mail them to Joey's Home Senior Dog Rescue, 3015 Dimmick Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47802. ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP, even just a few dollars! If we happen to raise more than $150, the money will stay in the Joey's Home account at the vet to help assist with costs for our next senior rescue dog.

Hi all, Henry here. I'm doing really well in my foster home. My foster mom thinks it's a good time to go ahead with my heartworm treatment. She's looking for donations to help cover the cost. She says rescuing oldsters like me is expensive!
Our GOAL is $150! Any little amout, even $5 or $10 will help!!! If you can donate toward my treatment, please send us a check or money order made payable to THE CROSS VET CLINIC. Please note in the memo that it's for Henry's htwm Tx. Please send them to:
Joey's Home Senior Dog Rescue
3015 Dimmick Ave.
Terre Haute, IN 47802
My foster mom wants me to note that Joey's Home is not a 501(c)(3) organization yet, so donations are not tax deductible. But just look at my face; isn't that enough?!?!?
THANK YOU!!!!
~Henry
