Arrival Story:
My neighbour feeds a couple of semi feral cats and a very skinny tabby cat started coming by but kept getting chased away by the other cats so we started to feed her in my yard instead. She was nervous but friendly and no one in the neighbourhood had lost a cat so I said I'd adopt her. While I was at work my neighbour, Ron, took her into the vet to get her checked up and was asked "where are the kittens? she's recently given birth and has been suckling". We'd never seen any kittens so Ron took her back home and followed her around the neighbourhood for 2 hours until Sassy led him to a garage with 4 tiny kittens inside. The guy at the house said he was just about to call the pound so Ron gathered up the kittens and set up a baby's play pen in his garage for Sassy and the kittens. The vet said we'd got them just in time as Sassy was so skinny her milk was drying up :-( She ate like a horse and was able to put on some weight and keep suckling her kittens. I ended up keeping Sassy and Xena (the mini-me tabby kitten), my neighbours kept the fluffy black kitten and a friend from work adopted the other two. Sassy was a great mother and loved that she could keep Xena who she spoiled and suckled til she was 7-8 months old and almost as big as Sassy (check out the photo!).

Sassy got her name because she is so talkative and will answer you when you talk to her.
