Arrival Story:
My husband and I volunteered at Animal Control at a "Midnight Madness" Event and my hubby found her in one of the kennels and she was pitiful!! It took him ten minutes to get her semi-trust. I went looking for him because I had not seen him in a while and found him sitting in her kennel. As soon as I approached, she ran to the back of the kennel and if she could have melted into the wall, she would have. She was so fearful!! So I suggested we take her out to the play pens outside and let her stretch and play. Ohhhhh ... that is all it took!! We found a tennis ball in the pen and she loved to play fetch and catch me if you can (aka keep away). By the end of the night, hubby was talking about "She would love the toys at the house", "She would .. this" and "She would ... that". I really didn't want another dog but he planted a seed. Through out the night I was trying to find her a home but she was so fearful that people were not drawn to her. I ended up putting my name on her card a day or two later as a last resort thing. Needless to say, 5 -6 days after the event, I was told to come get her or she was due to be euthanized. I went to pick her up and on her card was marked "Will bite"!! I could not believe that! That was one thing we noticed with her the night we played with her was that if she felt her teeth clamping down on your fingers, she would withdrawl her mouth from the toy. That was a death sentence for her by putting that on her card. She had one mark against her already (because of media hype) ... being part pit bull. Then to have "will bite" on her card just hammered the last nail in her coffin. So I released her from "death row" and took her home! She has been here since.

I do have to watch her energy level with the danes and other dogs. She has a focus that is unreal. So when she is hyped up, you have to focus her energy on a toy to keep peace in the house. And when the danes are playing, she will grab a toy and thrash it around while running around in the center of the danes wrestling!! LOL It is funny to watch her play with the danes. They at first (except Skylar who has taken her in as a best buddy!!) were intimidated by her but they are now getting used to her and are starting to stand up to her. So she is becoming less bossier now!! :::: Smiles:::: She is super smart and a real joy. She can be a barker at times but we are working on that. She does feel that you have been placed on this earth to entertain her though!! LOL She is still a little fearful of strangers but again, I am working on that too.

Forums Motto:
