Arrival Story:
Jack arrived in our home on July 3, 1995. His 1st human mom said that he was the most interesting puppy in his litter. She was right about his being interesting. He is the sweetest boy you would ever want to meet, but his doggie opthamalogist calls him a "genetic nightmare" because he has so many things wrong with him. He developed juvenile cataracts when he was 2 and went almost totally blind in less than 3 months. After cataract surgery, he could see just fine, and can still see very well 11 years later. He has to receive 3 different types of eye drops twice a day. He has many allergies, but they are under control by eating a very strict diet, receiving daily medication and weekly allergy shots. He has always loved all of our cats, and was the first of our animals to make friends with each new kitten. It was so funny to see them run away the first couple of days, but then start to snuggle up to him when they realized how nice he is. He saved the life of one of our cats when she was just a kitten. She was on top of the refrigerator in our kitchen and fell off the back one night after we had gone to bed. Her collar got got on the cooling coils halfway down, and she was just hanging there. We were upstairs, asleep in our beds, and could not hear her cries. But Jack heard her. He started barking on the stairs and would not stop until we came to see what was going on. When we got in the kitchen, we could hear her crying. We pulled out the refrigerator and unhooked her. I really feel that she would have been dead before the next morning. Her collar went in the trash immediately.

Bio:
Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He will be missed by everyone who met him, but especially by his mom. I'll always love you, Jack.
