Birthday:

Likes:
Cheese, I love cheese. And I like birds, squirrels and deer. Ooh, and I love to snuggle on the couch at night.

Pet-Peeves:
I still get spooked a little when people run beside me but I'm getting better at it. I just need more practice. And I don't like it when the birds are outside the window and I can't get them.

Favorite Toy:
A blue rubber bone. It was my foster brothers but he doesn't like it. I don't know why. It's nice. And I like tennis balls too.

Favorite Food:
Did I mention that I like Cheese? And pretty much anything that is edible.

Favorite Walk:
Now that I can get out and do stuff, I love hiking in Duke Forest. I like to lay in the creek at the bottom of the hill on the main trail. I like the Bolin Creek trails too. And I'm starting to like Carrboro. Lots to see and sniff in all places.

Best Tricks:
Attention, sit, wait, down, touch.

Arrival Story:
In April, I was sitting at a shelter nearby all alone. The humans there told me that my time was almost up but they were going to give it one more shot. I didn't know what they meant. But then a man came up to take me away. I was scared but he seemed nice. He drove me to a place and I got out and got into another car. The man and lady there told me that they had seen a picture of me in an email that day and had decided to keep me until I found a furever home. When I got to their house, there were 3 other dogs there. Moby, Delilah and Spencer told me stories about how nice these humans were and how they had rescued them. I went to the vet and got some shots and tests. I thought I did well on the tests because they said I was positive for heartworms. I guess that doesn't mean anything good though. I went to the vet again a few weeks after joining the family and got horribly painful shots. I had to stay away from those humans. I thought they had given up on me but then they came back and got me again. I had to stay calm and away from the other dogs for a long time until I got better but then I was allowed to mingle in the house. I like the humans alot and the dogs are growing on me. I hope all humans are like these people and all dogs are as nice as these 3.

Bio:
The lady says that I've had a string of bad luck but she's sure my luck will change soon. She said that I was almost put to sleep and that would have been bad (but I like to sleep so I'm not sure about why it would be bad!) She said that I was in heat when she got me. It was kind of hot but not real hot - it got much hotter a few weeks ago. She said that I was positive for heartworms. I thought that was good too but I guess in this case positive isn't good. And then she said that Mother Nature played a trick on me. She said that I was diagnosed with pseudopregnancy. I thought that I was going to have pups and that will be fun but sit turns out they were right. No pups. Then I went back to the vet and they "fixed" me. I don't know what was wrong but now I'm alright. And while I was there they made my teeth real pretty and fixed one that was broken. Now my smile is perfect. Update: It was a few days before Christmas in 2008, and there I was with my foster family. They were crying and saying that they had hoped I would have a forever home by the holidays but that they thought they would have to keep me. I was okay with that. Then foster mom got a call. Someone wanted me. They lived far, far away in another state, near the ocean, where it's warm. They hadn't met me but the fell in love with my picture. So many phone calls happened and then foster mom and dad drove me across town where nice lady transported me to Florida to my new home. They have a fenced in yard with another Setter. They have a doggie door that allows me to run in and out. The new man lets me snuggle him on the bed. Then after I was there for a week, another Setter came to live with us. We are a pack now and I love it.

I want a Family

I want a family so bad. Don't get me wrong, I love my current family but I want one that I can call my own. I want to be the only dog or only have to compete for attention from one other dog in the family. I want to be the only dog doing the snuggling. I want to be the dog that goes on trips everytime, not every third trip so they can be fair.

Here are the things I can do for my family:
*Eat all of my food and lick the bowl clean. I'm not a picky eater.
*Snuggle on the couch or bed. Or if you prefer, I can sleep in my crate. I'm versatile.
*Help you stretch. I love to lay on the floor if you are stretching and help.
*Walk around town on a leash with my head held high and a giant smile on my face.
*Wrestle another dog if there is one in the family. I let the other dog win 1/2 the time.
*Sit, down, give a paw, high five, stay, wait and leave it.
*Eat crumbs on the floor so you don't have to sweep as much.
*Sound an alarm when someone enters the house that doesn't belong.
*Be calm when you first let me out of my crate and then run around and rejoice your return home.
*Watch TV with you - especially if there are fun noises like birds on.
*Be good in the vets office.
*Be curious in the pet store...but not obnoxious, just curious.
*Run with you, now that I'm not scared of running or cars.
*Go to class to learn things with you. I like to learn and I'm fast at it.
*Be pretty and sweet.

What I want from my family:
*Love
*Cuddles
*Food - hopefully with some cheese snuck in at times.
*Regular walks - I like to call them hunts on leash.
*Attention
*Protection from things I'm scared of like car horns.
*Regular trips to the vet.

See, I can give so much more than I need. Why won't somebody take me home?

US Help to Georgia

Mom and Dad dropped me off last night so that I can be spayed today. I'm a little nervous but then this morning on the news, I heard that the US is sending help to Georgia. That's me! So that means that everything is going to be okay with the surgery today.

And on a similar note, I don't know why the news keeps saying that I'm fighting with Russia. I've never even met her before. I don't know what kind of dog she is. Is she a setter? Is she big? Where does she live? What did she do to make people think I need to fight her? Maybe she'll come visit after the surgery with the US.

Gonna be a Momma? Why not?

I'm going to have puppies. At least that is what I think. I've been working on a bed for them in my crate. I've got some milk for them too. And just when I was getting excited about their arrival, the man and lady take me to a place and I'm told there are no puppies. They said that Mother Nature is playing tricks on me. Well, let me at this Mother Nature and I'll show her a thing or two. That isn't a good trick. I know tricks. Tricks are sitting or laying down or catching crackers in the air or dancing. Making a dog think she's gonna be a Momma isn't a good trick.
