Arrival Story:
I was checking Petfinder one night and came across a basset at our local pound. My husband went down the next afternoon to see her and called me right away to get down there. I fell in love with her immediately and we took her home the next day after her spay. Unfortunately she has demodectic mange and had to be checked for heartworm before treatment. Yep...she has heartworms. We have gone through one round of treatment that was precluded by a hospitalization for fluid in the lungs. She is fattening up (5 lbs in a month) and after the heartworm treatment is complete in November, she can begin to enjoy a normal life with us! Update - February 2004 - The heartworms are history! Maggie now weighs in at 37 pounds. She is such a delight, not a shy b9ne in her body. She always wants to play with the BIGGEST dog at the dog park! Her favorite is a black Great Dane named Zeus!

Bio:
Maggie was extremely emaciated when we got her from the pound (only 25 lbs).
