I came to my new family on April 19, 2008, from Cooperslane Kennels, in Arthur, Ontario. My mom was really anxious for me to arrive, but she had to wait until I was old enough to leave my birth mother (and 9 siblings!)
Right away, I loved my new home. There is this bigger dog, Sable, and I ran to greet her right away. She didn't seem too impressed with me; was actually quite 'snarly'. My new mom spoke to Sable, and told her to be nice, then explained to me that Sable was still sad because Chelsea had just died 36 hours earlier. Doesn't she understand that, while I cannot replace Chelsea, I just want to play and make her be happy with me??
I met my new dad, and my new neighbors and their dog (who also wasn't too impressed with me! The dog, not the neighbors.)
Mom had two new kennels for me, and lots of toys! I really love it here!!
Just a few days after I arrived, though, I got really sick, and I had to go to the hospital. I didn't really mind, because I felt so bad. The nice doctor there said that I had an intestinal infection, that I'd picked up before I came to my new home. Maybe I got that from some of the stuff I like to dig up? Hmmm....none of my other siblings got sick! But, my new mom knew what to do, and now I am all better and having fun!
I love chewing on anything, but mom gets really upset if I chew on her furniture. Gee; doesn't she understand that it's just like that chew stick she gives me, only bigger? Well, guess I'd better learn the 'rules', so that I can be on good terms all the time. I love being on good terms, whatever that is!!! All I know is that I get lots of love and kisses from everyone!!!! Even strangers!!!
Like I said, I really like it here! There are lots of 'rules' to learn, but my mom
says that I'm smart, and that I am learning really fast. I have figured out that I get lots of exercise, discipline, THEN lots of affection! My mom says that is how I am going to grow up to be a 'well mannered dog', so I try really hard to please her. She's acting just like my birth mother: rules, rules, rules! Oh, well, guess it can't be all fun and games!
I get to help with the gardening, too! When mom was digging a hole, I helped! Then, I got to lay in the dirt, but I liked curling up in the hole, better. That was so much fun! And, cool too! You can see a picture of my that my mom took while I was in my hole!
Mom says that when I get finished with all my vaccinations, I am going to get to go to 'school', and learn all kinds of fun things! I can't wait. But, for now, I am busy being a puppy; eating, playing, and sleeping.
