Likes: His furfamily and his Mom. He is an amazingly balanced and confident boy.
Pet-Peeves: Having his nails clipped.
Favorite Toy: Bed pillows
Favorite Food: He's on organic food and loves it mixed with yogurt, garlic, veggies and fresh meat and chicken.
Favorite Walk: Walk? Never! He runs for several miles a day through woods, beaches or beautiful parks. It's a GSP requisite :)
Best Tricks: He makes a little dolphin-noise and backs up when he wants something.
Arrival Story: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tucker's Early Days: Tucker's life was one of uncertainty, mishandling and boredom, tragic circumstances for any living being. He'd been "owner-abdandoned" several times and "owner-surrendured" at several pounds and shelters throughout the northeast. He was the quintessential shelter dog! His last shelter stay was for 2 months, where he was abandonded by his 'family' with an open, hind leg fracture; and muliple lacerations covered his emmaciated body. Thankfully, the devout angels at the shelter nursed his injuries and contacted GSP Rescue.org, who placed him in a foster home for several months. Tucker was categorized by Rescue as an "improbable placement". But that's all history now - he's a new pup!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tucker's New Life!
We adopted this amazing boy in November, 2006. It was readily apparent that he hadn't had opportunity to run, evidenced by his clumsy jog and occasional tripping over his own paws :) In time and with practice, he would find his stride and run with confidence and purpose.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tucker Today: While out, he prefers to run far beyond to climb, flush or swim with his GSP brother, Max. His favorite place to run is the ocean. When not there, he joyfully runs and chases the scents of all different critters in the woods and covers around 8-10 miles a day - with preference to trails less traveled. At the end of each day, he's a very tired and loving lap dog; and I'm thankful everyday to participate in his spirit, fortitude and joy.

Yes, it's true. I have a major fear..... thunderstorms and fireworks. They cause both me and my brother, Max, considerable anxiety. Fortunately for Joey and Vayla, they're unreactive to the noise.
Today, the meteorologist predicted extensive thunderstorms within our region; and unfortunately he was correct. Mom was at work, but worried that we would become overly stressed. Fortunately, we never get destructive. Unfortunately, our panic manifests with rapid panting and trembling uncontrollably. Max also whines and presses himself against Mom for safety and reassurance.
Mom came home early today; and we were so relieved, we almost knocked her down when we saw her :) We refused to go out in the yard and relieve ourselves, so Mom changed and in the car and off to the woods we went - earlier than usual.
The woods are beautiful when it rains, and we love running in the rain. The ponds are fuller, the streams are more robust and the critters are everywhere. We love running through the puddles on the trails, too. Sometimes while we run past Mom, we kick up water and it hits her! We swam after ducks, flushed a few birds, Joey played with a snake (yuck!!) and Vayla enjoyed a few hunts with us, as she was able to tear herself away from Mom for a little bit. We didn't blink when it thundered, during which Mom became concerned and looked for Max & me. She noticed I'd run down a ravine and was rolling in, well you know, just a little something special! Pfffft, thunder!! THIS time, the rolling seemed to make Mom smile!!
Joey and I needed a bath when we arrived home, but other than THAT horrific experience, this thunderstorm was a piece of cake!
Ohhhh......that most handsome & sweet Shar Pei pal of mine, Tucker, ice cream tagged me :)
I'm mint chocolate chip with hot fudge and nuts. Why, you ask? Well, I get my coolness from the mint, the chocolate chip ice cream is perfect coloring for GSPs & Mom's favorite, hot fudge because I'm sooo sweet and nuts because, well, I am!!!
OK - I'm off to tag five pals. After they determine what flavor they are, they can tell their pals their flavor in a pmail and tag em!!
Here I come for .........
Jake
Milo
Emma
