the stuffed squirrel my 9 year old nephew bought him - it's about as big as he is

Arrival Story:
I had finally moved into a home where I could have a pet, and I was cruising on PetFinder.com and saw him, his name was "Capone" at the time. I saw he would be at a mobile adoption at Animal House/Healthwize which was about 5 blocks from my house and thought I'd go check it out. I saw him right away and loved him instantly. His foster mom gave me a bunch of food, a few leashes, pee pads and his favorite towel and I walked home with him, slightly in shock. Was I ready to have a dog? Was I ready to have my life change in an instant and take on such a responsibility? Well I did have a few nervous breakdowns because I wasn't sure I was, but I'm happy to report that Yogi and I are doing great over a year later. Linda from Wonder Dog helped me all along the way and is a continued support and resource for me. I couldn't have done it without her.

Yogi was picked up by Wonder Dog Rescue from the Los Banos shelter, a high kill shelter, because he was scheduled to be euthanized. He stayed with Linda from Wonder Dog for awhile and then was being fostered by a volunteer when we met. That's about all we know about him, and we think he is about 2-3 years old now. When I first got him, he had fleas and some hot spots and scabs on his ears, his fur was rough and he had giardia, but now he's flea-free, parasite-free and his fur is soft as silk. And he dances all the time, does lots of downward dog, stretches and handstands (thus the name YOGI!), likes to sleep in, loves to run around at the beach or up in the snow, howls when he hears sirens (I howl with him) and loves to play with any other dog or person who will join him. He is the coolest, sweetest, most mild-mannered pooch I could ever have hoped for!
