God and dog

We added a youtube video on our page today. Hope you will take the time to check it out.

After a really cool week last week, today we turned the corner and are warming up. 60's today, 70's tomorrow, and by the end of next week we will be in the 80's. Time to sit out on the deck with mom :) Ahhhhh, Life is Good!

Hope our pals in Dogsterland are well. Mia's surgery went well yesterday. She will see the vet in two weeks to have her stitches taken out and Yuki will go for x-rays to see if there has been any progress with the bladder stones. He will most likely end up having surgery, but we have our paws crossed that the meds and prescription foods he is on now have helped. We'll post once we know more.

Here's the POOP scoop

We need a little Dogster guidance here and hope someone can help. We were reading the blog about owners who fail to pick up after their dogs and we have a little pawblem of our own. We NEVER potty in our front yard because mom likes the front yard to always look presentable, after all, it is the curb appeal for your home. Being a family of five dogs and never wanting to upset our neighbors, we had a fence put up immediately upon moving in. Our neighbor, however thinks it is perfectly acceptable to let their large yellow lab potty on our lawn as if it is his very own. This is very upsetting to mom because she feels if she can be considerate with five dogs, how can someone with just one dog be so lacking in return. We are, after all, next door neighbors. It has been casually brought up in many conversations yet they still fail to control their dog and he still potties all over the yard. The poop is disgusting but the even bigger problem is the urine. We never potty in the front yard, yet our front yard is urine burn central. It is unsightly to say the least. We had urine burns in the fall but with all the yellow snow we have now, we can only imagine what the grass will look like in the spring. What can we do? They simply fail to keep their dog on their own property and feel no need to confine him by other means. Even when they did confine him, the lead was so long he just walked on our property to potty anyway. I'm at a loss. The owners are nice people, they are simply bad neighbors. Our boy cannot even cut through his own lawn to get to the house for fear of stepping in poop.

A Dog Named Christmas

Did anypup watch A Dog Named Christmas yesterday? We all watched it and loved it! We are rescues so we enjoy a nice heartwarming story about rescued pups. We are so fortunate and so loved. Our Christmas wish is that all shelter pups and kitties find loving new homes just like we did.

I know we will be donating to our shelter for the howlidays and we hope you would consider donating to your local shelter as well. It doesn't have to be monetary, they can always use volunteers or donations of household items like blankets or towels that you no longer use. Remember the four legged creatures during the busy hustle and bustle of the season.

Remembering Tara

Today is a sad day for the MN gang because it was two years ago today that we said goodbye to our sister Tara. I think if it effected anyone the most, it would have to have been Mia. She really loved Tara. Whenever Tara used the bathroom, that is the same spot Mia would go. When Tara passed away, Mia didn't even want to go outside and potty and she didn't really want to eat. It is hard to understand what she went through, but it was just her way of grieving. Thankfully she understood quickly that even though Tara wasn't coming back, she could keep on living. To this day, she remains the only girl. Tara was her only sister. Today we fondly remember Tara, the angel who fought long and hard to battle heart failure. Love to you Tara from the rest of the MN Gang.

Here is a poem we think fits Tara perfectly. Hope you enjoy it.

................................................... ........................................................

We can't know why the lily has so brief a time to bloom
in the warmth of sunlight's kiss upon its face.
Before it folds its fragrance in
and bids the world good-night to rest its beauty in a gentler place.

But we can know that nothing that is ever loved is ever really lost,
and no one who has ever really touched a heart can really pass away
because some beauty lingers on in each memory of which they've
been a part.

Have a blessed and safe 4th of July America!

Happy 4th of July Dogsterland! Here are a few safety tips from the Humane Society of the United States.

Remember, our furry friends are not always in awe of the fireworks and spectacles as we are!

To protect your pet on the Fourth of July, take these precautions:

* Resist the urge to take your pet to fireworks displays.
* Do not leave your pet in the car. With only hot air to breathe inside a car, your pet can suffer serious health effects—even death—in a few short minutes. Partially opened windows do not provide sufficient air, but they do provide an opportunity for your pet to be stolen.
* Keep your pets indoors at home in a sheltered, quiet area. Some animals can become destructive when frightened, so be sure that you've removed any items that your pet could destroy or that would be harmful to your pet if chewed. Leave a television or radio playing at normal volume to keep him company while you're attending Fourth of July picnics, parades, and other celebrations.
* If you know that your pet is seriously distressed by loud noises like thunder, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th for ways to help alleviate the fear and anxiety he or she will experience during fireworks displays.
* Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. In their fear, pets who normally wouldn't leave the yard may escape and become lost, or become entangled in their chain, risking injury or death.
* Make sure your pets are wearing identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly. Animals found running at-large should be taken to the local animal shelter, where they will have the best chance of being reunited with their owners.
* If you plan to go away for the holiday weekend, read our information on Caring for Pets When You Travel.

If you follow these simple precautions, you and your pet can have a safe and happy Fourth of July.

A sad day for Hollywood

What a tragic day for Hollywood with the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. I pray for the comfort of their families during this heartbreaking time. Our mom used to love watching Farrah on Charlie's Angels and is so sad that she couldn't beat that darned cancer! And Michael, what a shock that was. Rest in peace Farrah and Michael. God bless you both.

Tick, tick, tick

No, that is not the sound of a clock but of those NASTY, crawling, blood sucking parasites. We use Frontline and have never had any issues with fleas or ticks, but this year the ticks are out in full force. In our humble opinion, the terribly cold winter should have killed all those suckers off! Alas, that is not the case

Anyhoo, we continue to battle these nasty buggars with continued use of Frontline and quick combings after our walks. If anyone has any additional advice for us to try, we are all ears. We can't wait until their population dies off. Until then, let the battle continue.

Pawsome! We're a diary pick!

Wowzers! We can't believe Dogster made us one of the Dairy picks today. How pawsome is that! We hope that if you read our diary entry, you had a chance to check out the audition of Ms. Boyle. We really do think she has amazing talent!

So, spring is slowly but surely making its way to MN. We are expecting the first thunderstorm of the season tomorrow. Mom is excited because it has been so dry and we need a good soaking to bring all the vegetation back to life! We still have pretty brown looking grass right now. We could possibly have a little to do with that, too. BOL

Tara's tree looks AMAZING! In the past week the buds are all practically bursting at the seams! We think her tree should be open very soon. Bruno's tree looks good and we are confidant that it survived, but it isn't ready to open like Tara's. It is most likely just a late bloomer. It certainly looks like it is getting there, though. We can't wait to see it when it opens.

That is about all that is happening here. We would just like to take a moment to wish our dear friend Lola a very Happy 9th Birthday tomorrow and also welcome JoJo and Angel Coco to Dogster. They are very dear Chow furiends of Angel Tara. Check out all their pages :)
