Arrival Story: They were born at the shelter. Their mom was a small shepherd mix at best guess. They went into foster care, but now that they are 6-7 weeks old, the other foster home was a little overwhelmed, so now I'm taking care of the little devi- I mean, these 5 sweet, cute, innocent puppies.
Bio: Every one of these puppies has unique eyes! They are all named after famous people. Rodney is the only boy. They also have roundworms, which is totally disgusting. Liv is the sicky of the bunch.
Forums Motto: Fun Never Stops
Liv: Poor Liv (or "Liv Dearest" as we call her) has been sick pretty much the entire time we've had her. It started out as really congested breathing when we first met her, so we picked up some meds for her before we even left the shelter. But the cough didn't go away for about 3 weeks, when she finally got some more powerful medicine. She had had fluid on her lungs that she wasn't able to cough up, causing that congestion. She then progressed to a wheezing cough which took a while to get rid of as well. She is also the one that had most of the nasty roundworms. All those worms in her belly meant that she was underweight when she first arrived. She now has a rash on her whole body from a medicine that was to help her cough. Poor girl is itching like crazy. Unless something weird happens, she will FINALLY be getting spayed next Saturday!! So that is why she is still with us.
Fancy Pants: Fancy Pants does not have much interest from adopters, so she's still with us. That's fine with us because she keeps Liv company.
Fancy and Liv (now known as "Jaycee Blue") went to wonderful furever homes that have been kind enough to indulge me in pictures and stories. So I wanted to share with you all what these pups have been up to in the last few months.
I have less to say about Fancy than Jaycee, so we'll talk about her first. She went to a home with 3 girls to keep her entertained. They have fun playing with her and getting her to try new things, including swimming in a pool, which she was less than thrilled about so they helped her "surf" instead. Fancy has gone through a puppy class and showed off what a smart cookie she is. They were surprised at how well behaved she was in the house for being just a little pup. The thing that surprised ME the most was how they said she wasn't even trying to get on their furniture! What? My little Mountain Goat? Not getting on furniture? She was climbing onto my couch at the ripe age of 7 weeks old, and was climbing baby gates at 3 months!!! Nonetheless, they love having her as part of their lives!
Jaycee's mom is not shy at all about sending pictures or telling me stories. I love that! Jaycee has graduated puppy class. She has a pretty good list of behaviors down now: sit, down, roll over, take it, leave it, drop it, stay, and come. At the time of her graduation she was working on "give paw" but she's probably already mastered that one by now. She's all puppy and loves to chew and pounce. She goes for plenty of walks (and despite pulling in the beginning, now walks nicely on a loose leash) and also gets to go to the dog run a couple times a week, where she romps with her many friends (her favorite are apparently a lab, a JRT, a beagle, and a pure mutt). Jaycee loves ice and careens towards the kitchen when she hears someone getting ice from the dispenser on the fridge and immediately sits and puts on her best cute face (which is pretty easy to do, 'cause she's always cute!). At the dog run she likes to dive head first into anyone's ice cooler. She also recently discovered that apples are the yummiest treat ever and can't get enough. What a goofball! She has already been through at least one kid birthday party (she has a fur-less sister and brother!) and has gone swimming in a pool, complete with lime-green lifejacket. She lives a full life and her family is simply thrilled to have her, even through her puppy mouthiness, her jumping up, and her gross poop-eating habit. They have even painted her nails! She wails something awful when the vet touches her (at least she did on her first visit). What a little diva!
It's me, Fancy Pants! I finally got 'zopted today at an adoption event outside of Best Buy. I have a little girl to play with but no other pets. They came looking to buy a dryer and left with a pup instead! :D FM thinks I will be just fine.
Well I went to an adoption event today at an apartment complex. They were having a little festival for their doggies. There really wasn't much going on. There was a lovely little "dog park" there and I got to hang out and introduce myself. There were some contests going on and, whaddya know, I won in the "Cutest" category! My foster mom got $25 in gift certificates to a local pet supply store. So after the event we went right out there. It was my first time in a store but I did AWESOME! FM didn't get anything for ME, can you even believe it?? She bought Depp a leash and collar and bought him a big ol' rope toy for him to chew on. Helloooooo! Who won the contest??
