I don't like to be the barer of bad news, but my mommy is pretty upset so I thought I would let everyone know.

We lost one of our horses lastnight. Jackie. She had gotten a little puncture wound on her leg and despite antibiotics, it got so infected it must of given her blood poisioning. She passed away during the night.

Jackie was one of those cases mommy had that was severely abused by some guy who thought he was a cowboy. She was a wonderful horse to ride, but she was scared of everything and she was hard to handle on the ground. She was a big Quarter Horse mare with a big bubble butt, mommy says she was like riding a Cadilac.

Jackie was one of those mare that was a great mommy, she mommied any horse we put her with. That was her greatest quality. She was so gentle with what ever horse needed a friend. She could of been that way with humans is she had a better start.

A couple of months ago Jackie got hurt pretty bad in a barbed wire fence and mommy and daddy had babied her back to good. They wanted to sell her, but no one wanted a problem horse (who was also a feedlot baby and had crooked legs) so they kept her and did the best they could. Mommy and Daddy love all their horses good or bad.

The feel of her soft hide and that look in her eye like she really wanted to please and be friends will be deeply missed.
