Arrival Story:
I am disabled by my illness, I'm 46 years old. I have no wife or kids, and my family all live in Missouri, and I'm all alone out here in California so my Doctor recommended getting a service dog. so I went online to Petfinders.com, told them about my needs, and the kind of doggie I liked the best. a Red Heeler aka the Dingo. they are so intelligent and their fur is so soft that she feels like a big teddybear. Petfinders gets back to me and tells me about a dog named Ginger at Berkely Animal Care, that needed a good loving home like mine, who fit the description of what i had specified. so I had some friends give me a ride over there That was Nov 8th 07 that was also the day that there was a big oil spill on the SF bay. I think that tanker hit the bridge while we were crossing it. because when I was filling the paperwork and doing the adoption process we kept getting interupted by people bringing in marine animals covered in oil or deisel fuel or whatever it was, and the nice people at BAC had to stop and process the animals and get them the help they needed. anyhow the Ginger was in a cold kennel with a hundred other dogs just barking and howling all day, it was so noisy. when we went into a closed room without all the other noisy dogs, she calmed down and was so sweet. I said Hi Ginger Do you want to be my Doggie, her ears perked up, she jumped up and started licking my face and giving me kisses. that clenched it. I fell in love with her and we have been inseparable ever since

Bio:
Ginger was owned by a nice 85 year old lady in Berkely. she got Ginger as a little puppy. she must have been so cute. but when Ginger got big, well she's pretty strong and that lady couldn't control her so she with great sadness had to give her up. Ginger is so well behaved. that nice lady taught her some manners, and to go outside to go to the bathroom, so she was already trained . I put the final touches on her, by taking her to all the dog parks and letting her run around with all the other dogs, and socialize, I encourage her to run and get as much exercise without wearing me out
