It was 2 years after my first German Shepherd Tyler past that we decided Amber (8 years old-shepherd/mix) needed a friend. So a friend of mine recommended a lady that breeds American German Shepherd show dogs. Nikki was one of the companion dogs available - we wanted a pet not interested in showing. She attached herself to my husband's feet and hasn't moved in 14 months.

Swimming Pool

Nikki is not into swimming like her step brother Duke but loves to drop her toys in the deep end and then annoy us until we get them out. As soon as you retrieve her toy she will toss it back into the pool for us to retrieve. I guess you can say she is training us to fetch. Of course, this trick gets old quick. For a dog that does not like water she will dunk her entire head into the pool to retrieve her favorite toy from the steps of the pool.
