Arrival Story: I had been wanting my own dog for as long as I can remember. We had gotten a family schnauzer when I was 9 years old and he hated kids so he bit me all of the time! I begged and begged for my own dog, didn't care what kind of dog, just wanted a dog I could pet and love, so finally when I was going on 12 years old, my parents relented and we went to visit this schnauzer breeder who'd had a litter of six schnauzers. It was 2 hours away in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, at the time we liked in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and by the time we got there, there were only three left, two boys and one girl. My mom said we had to get a girl because she knew our male schnauzer wouldn't take well to a male, which i didn't care. The only girl was the runt of the litter, she shook when she walked, and was very timid acting. I picked her up and put her on her back and she just looked at me in my eyes, and I knew I had to have her. My mom thought she was so ugly, and begged me to consider looking at other places, but I knew what I wanted and wouldn't change my mind. Two weeks later, my mom surpised me at school with my 13 week old puppy. I raised her all on my own, always responsible for feeding, bathing, brushing, taking out, playing with, walking, everything and she turned out to be the best dog ever. She has the gentlest temperment, she's always been great with kids and we haven't met a dog she couldn't get along with. She made me fall in love with schnauzers, and I'll forever love her for who she is. She's 14 now, and her health is not so good, she's got spondylosis in her back, she's gone deaf, her eyesight is poor, she's in chronic renal failure, and has a lot of senior moments, but she's still the love of my life, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to love her and have her love me back.
