Likes: She most loved her Daddy... she really was his little princess.

Pet-Peeves: As she got on in years, she'd get irked with dogs who wouldn't sit still while she "lectured" them.

Favorite Toy: Probably her latex squeeky or her pink piggie.

Favorite Food: Anything soft and warm.

Favorite Walk: She loved going to the Chihuahua Chat... a group I ran here for a little over a year. Local Chihuahuas all got together to play once a week.

Best Tricks: Her ability to love and trust... after being so mistreated, I will never cease to be amazed by her capacity for love.

Arrival Story: I was contacted by a person involved with small dog rescue in the U.S.. They told me about an old girl who was being fostered by a rescue that was shutting it's doors. She was considered "unadoptable" because of her age (in excess of ten years, we started counting with her being ten when she moved in, but it's believed she may have been older than that), her deformed hind end and back legs, and her advanced stage of tooth decay . Always the sucker for a sad story, I said she was welcome here if they could find a way to get her to me.
Unbeknown to myself, this is when a dear, dear friend of mine stepped in. She contacted the rescue and offered to pay for a flight for "Angel". At the time, I was told that several people had pitched in to cover the cost... as everyone knew I would have turned Norma Jeans generous gift down. Of course, now, I couldn't be more thankful that she stepped in.
Anyway.
She was put on a plane to bring her from Ohio to Saskatchewan. She arrived in December of 2002 - and being our little Christmas miracle, deserved a new name in honor of her new life. Thus she became our little Noelle.

Bio: After Noelle had passed the cute, fun, and playful puppy stage, her "family" locked her in a crate and left her in a basement for more than eight years. Finally, for whatever reason, they decided to turn her over to rescue. Because she spent so many years confined to such a tiny space the entire rear half of her body became deformed. We consulted with many veterinary surgeons who all concurred that surgery at this stage would be useless. She had learned to use her body as it was, and to change that would cause more harm than good. So, we left well enough alone.
Shortly after her arrival, we had her teeth cleaned... which left her with only four teeth. The surgery to remove the dead and dying teeth can be seen on Campus Vets - a television show that featured both Noelle and Nico on an episode called "Dos Chihuahuas".

The End: Noelle passed away in the spring of 2006 - while I was away at a dog show in Swift Current. We knew the end was getting close as she became slower and more withdrawn. She died cuddled in her Daddies arms, sleeping in bed. It was the way I always hoped she'd go. To this day, I cry when I think of all she gave to us. She was an amazing, amazing little girl who will always have our hearts.
Rainbow Bridge: Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
