Still recovering from Cellulitis

Well, I went to the Vet today for Rouges appointment. Dr. Jones said she is healing very well, but due to her tendons showing she'll either need a skin graft or amputate her leg. I dont have $2,000 so we will have to get her leg amputated. My poor girl! I hate to do this to her, but I have no other choice.

Rouge's Cellulitis fight

Rouge was recently diagnosed with Cellulites about 5 days ago Wednesday, September 16th. What is Cellulites? Cellulitis is an acute inflammation of the connective tissue of the skin, which is caused by infection with staphylococcus, streptococcus or other bacteria. Cellulitis most commonly appears in areas where there is a break in the skin from an abrasion, a cut, or a skin ulcer. It can also be due to local trauma, such as an animal bite.

Cellulitis infection once occurred to any person spreads, very fast. It usually begins as a small area of tenderness, swelling, and redness on the skin. As this red area begins to spread, the person may develop a fever, which may be sometimes also accompanied with chills and sweats, and swollen glands near the area of infected skin.

The word "cellulitis" actually means "inflammation of the cells". It is most common on the face and lower legs, although skin on other areas of the body may sometimes be involved. Specifically, cellulitis refers to an infection of the tissue just below the skin surface. Pre-septal cellulitis affects the lid and other "outer" areas of the eye, whereas orbital cellulitis affects the "inner" areas around the eyeball.

The following are the Most Common Symptoms of Cellulitis. These includes:
-Swelling of the skin is a primary symptom of cellulitis.
-Blisters.
-Chills.
-Feeling of tiredness and weakness due to occurrence of cellulitis.
-A very large area of red, inflamed skin, shows the presence of cellulitis.
-If the skin appears black, may indicate the presence of cellulitis.
-Swollen lymph nodes near the area of infected skin.
-Nausea and Vomiting
-Headache could also occur due to Cellulitis
-Joint Stiffness caused by swelling of the tissue over the joint.
-Hair Loss.
-Drainage or leaking of yellow clear fluid or pus from the skin.
-Cellulitis typically develops near a surgical site or at the site of an injury, such as a burn, a cut, or an animal bite.

Her case was so bad that on top of having Cellulitis, she got an infection from maggots! The doctor said it was common especially since its been damp and raining a lot here. She lost 20lbs. but has gained 8lbs back since her recheck visit today. Her leg is so bad that you can see her tendons and ear is just about gone, but only because the dead cells are falling off. She smells like roadkill. I get so nauseas when I enter the room we have kept her in to separate her from the other dogs. I'm just glad she is recovering (especially eating again) and slowly getting better. Her medications are expensive, but worth it. We are going to bathe her tonight in a new medicated saline the Vet gave us today. Wish us luck

Once neglected, but now I'm loved...

I just got Rouge a few weeks ago. Her previous owners kept her outdoors on a small leash 24/7. As you know, Boxers are NOT outside dogs. They even admitted they neglected her. She had no house training. When you would pet her…patches of hair would be in your hand. We got her cleaned up and within 2 days she learned how to sit, lay, and fetch. She is very smart and such a fast learner. She took to me right away. I guess that’s why her nickname is “Mama’s Girl”. She follows us everywhere. Maybe she thinks I am going to leave her or something.

I love this dog.
