Arrival Story:
I was a Breeder/trainer mainly of Rottweilers although I traind everything and raise a couple other breeds, Rottweilers were my passion. I was on the Rottweiler Rescue call list and received a call one day from one of the workers at the center, they had a Rotty there that was scheduled to be put down the next day due to the doctors gave her no chance of survival or leading a normal life. I raced to Tenn. to the center and when I first saw her I wasn't even sure she was alive let alone a Rottweiler, she looked like a Greyhound she was so thin and except for her turning her head a little to see the face that was looking at her she didn't move. One of the doctors and the worker who called were there with me as I knelt down beside the cage, Roxy a gave her tail one weak wag and that was all, but it was enough. I convinced them to let me take her home and after and hour of debate they finally agreed. Roxy had to be bottle fed for two months to gain her strength back. Then she started the hard road, she had been beaten with God knows what and which had broken her pelvis bone not once but more than 18 times making her hind legs useless. it took 6 surgeries to rebuild her pelvis even then the vet said she may never walk again. She was eating on her own now but I had to but her bowl in front of her and prop her up against the couch so she could sit up to eat Which was a painful venture everytime. The surgeries took a year and a half and two years later Roxy was walking and weight 110 pounds. Today the only evidence of her abuse is seen only when she goes up stairs (it is a struggle). I Gave Roxy away in 2007 to a family who had a little girl, Roxy took to her right away and they are best friends and Roxy is her Guardian and proud of it. I share this story as a testimony of the spirit of a Dog and the love between her and their human friend. Together nothing is impossible for them and that spirit will never die. I miss ya Rockhound .......
