I wanted to let you all know that I will again be walking in the annual "Barks on the Boards" dog walking event to benefit the Humane Society of Ocean City, NJ (HSOC). The HSOC is a ‘wuffderful’ no-kill shelter that continues to function and grow with the help of public support and a full staff of volunteers.
“Barks on the Boards 2010” will take place on Sunday, May 30th, and is the ONLY day that us furry 4-leggers are allowed to strut our stuff on the boardwalk! This will be my 6th year participating in this pawsome event - it is loads of fun! Last year I had a whole crew of fellow Dogsters at the event, even a pack of weiner dogs all the way from Florida, and we all had a wonderful time. I would love it if we could do that again this year!
Last year, I raised over $3,000 for the shelter & was named highest individual donor for the 4th year in a row. I was in the local paper and even got a little shiny bone shaped plaque wif my name on it! And it was all thanks to the generosity of my family, friends and most importantly my Dogster pals! This year I hope to meet and exceed last year’s amount, and with your help maybe I can! That is a lot of bones that will go a loooong way for the puppers and kitties at the HSOC!
So…if anywoof wants to send a few (or a lot…bol!) of bones in my name you can send it directly to the shelter in my name: Jay-Jay, Yorkshire Terrier, Phila. PA, and make sure you also mention that it is for the “Barks on the Boards 2010” event. Or even better…you can now donate online at the HSOC’s website! And hey, if ya can't send any bones don't worry about it, just bark me some woofs of support to inspire my little legs to keep on walkin' (even though I sit in my stroller most of the day…BOL!) Any sort of support is encouraged, welcomed and appreciated!
A few years ago I started a Dogster group called “JJ’s Faithful Funders”
(http://www.dogster.com/group/Jjs_faithful_funders-8001) so if you are not already a member come on and join! There I will keep you all updated on my fundraising goals, will provide PayPal info, and we might even have some contests and giveaways there too!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read!
Wuv & Licks,

This is the HSOC Websites:
This is a snip-it from the HSOC website:
The mission of the Humane Society of Ocean City, New Jersey (HSOC) is to provide a compassionate and healthy environment for the homeless animals in our care until they can be placed into permanent homes or become permanent residents of the shelter.
The HSOC strives to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the suffering caused by pet overpopulation and animal cruelty by offering low cost spay/neuter solutions, wellness and humane education programs to the community.
The Humane Society of Ocean City is a private, non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization located in Ocean City, New Jersey. HSOC operates a "No-Kill" Animal Shelter; a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and a humane educational center.
Since 1964, HSOC has proudly served Ocean City and surrounding communities in Atlantic and Cape May counties. Our Shelter has rescued and cared for many stray and abandoned pets. HSOC strives to place its homeless residents into good, loving homes. For unwanted pets, HSOC provides them a safe, clean, and happy home in the Shelter for the rest of their precious lives.
In September 2002, HSOC opened a new building for spay/neuter and humane educational services. The local public is welcome to bring their pets and apply for spay or neuter appointments for affordable fees. The clinic has state-of-the-art medical equipment and is staffed by a licensed veterinarian and professional assistants. The educational center holds classes and shelter tours for children and young adults on the proper treatment and care of companion animals. The HSOC also teaches respect for all animals. The center is staffed by dedicated volunteer teachers who effectively convey to young minds an understanding and appreciation of pet guardianship.
There are other ways we help pets, as you will learn by reviewing the many areas of our website. With your financial support and volunteer efforts, we can transform our hopes into realities.
We stand by our motto: "Providing the highest level of compassion and service to our animal friends."

I hope I maybe get meet more Dogster furriends dis year
Dis summer be very good too, vacation at da sea shore is so nice. I wuvs our sea shore house b/c it one floor and I can keep a good eye on everyone inside and outside. I wuv to go on da warm porch early in da morning and lie on da table and sun myself. Den I wakes K up so we can go fur walk. I usually see my Tzu buddy Willie and I sits on his porch wif him for a while most days. He nice guy and let me lay in his special porch pillow. But bestest part of sea shore is when me & K get up reeeal early to sneak on da beach…hehe! I wuvs da beach sooo much! Da sand like snow, but not cold – BOL! I even get brave dis year and be runnin’ in da little tiny ocean waves. Walkin on beach and sniffin’ stinky seaweeds and stuffs is da best!
‘Nover highlight, so much snow! We getted 24 inches not to long ago and it be wooftastic b/c I wuvs da snow! K bundles me all up and I whine and bark at da door until she let me out and den I run in it, snoot around in it, and eats it! I ‘specially loved when K frows it at me and I can catches it. I stay out in snow allll day, but K make me come in and warm up b/c she say I freeze up like a pupcicle if I don’t. I sure hope we gets even more snow dis winter.
Hmmmm what else??? OHHHHH I be in Daily News b/c I greatest wittle hairy Phillies fan ever! Even though I can’t pee on it, it pretty tree, but it take up my window seat so I happies dat it gone b/c I can look out da front window again. We have usual big giant Italian Woofmas Eve dinner and everyone come over and give me presents – lol! I gets lots of da giant shrimps (raw of course) and chicken from the escarole soup, then I lay in my little bed in da middle of everyfing and watch everyone fussin’ wif gifts and stuffs. Da 2 little ones, Liz & Lila, likes to play wif me and I don’t mins dem so much anymores, ‘specially since dey give me treats…hehe! We have lots of fun Woofmas Ever, but Woofmas day is what I be wait fur. I get so excited b/c dat when Santa Paws come and bring me sooo many giftees! Dis year he bring me lots and lots and lots of bags of my most favorite Wellness treats, and buffalo bully sticks and even some elk jerky and cookies and stuff. I had lots of fun opening my pressies in da morning. I know exactly what be mine too. Santy bring me some wacky little hamster dis year too, but I no likes him. He make funny noises, he even bark at me! He run around in da kitchen and I attack him and throw him around, but he keep runnin’ around! I no likes him at all so K pack him up and ship him to one of my furriends who prolly likes him better.
It be da New Year not to long ago too, we go over little Liz house and count down and drink champagneee. Dey tells me I get champagneee in my little glass but I finks dey fooling me. To Whom It May Concern:
This is an open letter to express my disgust at the hiring of Michael Vick by the Philadelphia Eagles. It is aimed primarily at the Philadelphia Eagles organization and the NFL, but I have also copied this letter to many local news agencies, elected officials, Eagles sponsors, etc.
I am a “dog person”, I am also a life-long Philadelphian. I live in South Philly minutes away from where all of our sports teams play. I have been an Eagles fan since birth, a die hard fan for all my 29 years, but sadly I have been forced to relinquish any and all support of the Eagles and the NFL in general.
“I'm ashamed to be a Philadelphian today! I will never again give a hint of support to the Eagles ever again! All of my Eagles stuff has been put into a big box to be sold, or burned, or whatever! I refuse to ever look at the emblem again b/c it is now a symbol of greed and immorality. I am literally sick over the hiring of this sociopath. The eagles have ruined a family tradition for us…shame on them!” This was my knee-jerk FaceBook post upon hearing this disappointing news, and after thinking about it for a few days, I still have the same exact reaction.
I am appalled that you would assume that the Eagles fans would take the signing of a ‘should-be’ felon with the same nonchalant attitude that your organization has shown. You have hired a sociopath who has no real remorse for what he did - his only remorse is for the fact that he was caught. Every word that came out of Vick’s mouth during that press conference was a well rehearsed script put together by his legal team. He could never think of any of that himself because he does not mean any of it. He is merely reciting empty meaningless words. I can guarantee that he would still be financing and participating in the disgusting illegal blood-sport today if he was not caught.
You are assuming that Eagles fans are stupid and uneducated; you have insulted and offended us by signing Vick. You have in turn lost my family as fans – forever! You have ruined a Sunday tradition that our family has carried out for generations. There will be no more cheering, or fun, or good-times surrounding any Eagles (or NFL) game in our house. We will never again support the Eagles or the NFL in any way. We refuse to support a team and an organization (the NFL) that has no moral standards. The NFL continues to look the other way when it comes to murderers, felons and thugs playing on their fields and I find this unacceptable. By letting this soulless person be a part of a once classy organization you have gone from class to crass. You have nothing to gain from this move other than grief and disrespect. You are a desperate mediocre team that has no respect or loyalty to its fans. It’s apparent that you’re only loyalty is to greed and money and to hell with your fans. So I say to hell with the Eagles and the NFL!
Vick has no conscious, and still hides behind the excuse of “culture”. As far as I’m aware dog-fighting, animal torture and all the illicit activities that surround it are all illegal in the south. I find it hard to believe that electrocuting, drowning, forcibly raping female dogs with vicious male dogs, and having dogs to fight to the death, is culture anywhere. If it takes getting caught to make you realize that dog-fighting and torturing dogs is something you should not be doing, then you have a real personal mental problem. So don’t patronize us with the “culture” excuse, and please stop feeding us that canned response of, “he deserves a second chance” because he does not. As I recall he has had a few previous chances in the NFL so this is more like his 3rd or 4th chance now. You know who deserves a second chance? Dan Leone deserves a second chance, but you never gave him one, and all he did was post to a social networking site about how you let a truly good player and man go. In retrospect, I am glad that you let Dawkins go so that he does not have to share the same team as this disgusting person that you so readily embraced. You fired an angel and you hired the devil – shame on you!
To Roger Goodell and the NFL top brass:
You are a disgrace. You have turned the NFL into a league of thugs & felons. It is a privilege to make it into the NFL, but you have ruined that now. You have taken the honor out of professional football.
As to Jeff Lurie & the Eagles front office:
How can you publicly condemn Vick’s heinous actions as you did during the 8/14/09 press conference, and then basically roll over and hire him? You are a hypocrite, you are no animal lover because no true animal lover would even want to be in the same room with Vick, let alone have him on their payroll. There is nothing proactive (as you say) about anything Vick is made to do concerning the condemnation of dog-fighting – it is all orchestrated by his lawyers and your organization. It’s all an illusion to try and dupe the people, but you’re not fooling me.
As to Andy Reid:
During the post-game press conference on 8/13/09 Reid said that he has followed the Vick case closely. Well apparently not because not only did Vick do what he did, but he repeatedly tried to dodge the charges the whole time he was indicted and while on trial. So this is the type of person that Reid wants to represent his team? A sneaky liar who refuses to take responsibility for his actions? It speaks not only to the Eagles character, but to Reid’s own character, or lack there of I should say. He should worry about rehabilitating his own sons before giving this monster a second chance. Vick has yet to really take responsibility for what he did, and the HSUS supporting him is just as big a joke as Reid’s post-game interview was.
As to Donovan McNabb:
“I have dogs and I’ve looked passed it and so should everyone else.”…or something like that. Would McNabb look past someone holding his dog’s head underwater until it’s stopped struggling and dies? Has he seen the pictures of the hell that Vick was running? I guess not, because those images are not something that any normal person can forget! How do you “look past” the actions someone who was profiting from torture? I don’t understand why McNabb is so happy about this move anyway. Does he not understand why the Eagles have this sudden interest in picking up new QBs? Does he not realize that his time here is slipping away and that he will soon be replaced by a dog- torturer? I guess not.
As to the City of Philadelphia:
Our city has enough image problems as it is. We are pretty much the murder capital of the country, we are for sure the number one puppy-mill state, and we have a ridiculous problem with illegal dog-fighting. So why would you add this element to an already ailing city? Why would Mayor Nutter and Governor Rendell agree with this and think that it is ok? I cannot comprehend this at any level.
As to the 60 Minutes interview between James Brown & Vick:
The only reason he seems to know that what he did was wrong is b/c that is what his lawyers told him. Vick never uttered one ounce of remorse for what he did to those poor dogs. He has yet to actually say “I’m Sorry.” All he admitted to being sorry for was the fact that he got caught, and had to go to jail, and be alone, and lose all his money, and blah blah blah. He never once directly confronted the issue at hand – his heinous treatment of those poor dogs - those living things. He is and always will be a liar. That is what that fluff interview showed.
Plexico Beris, Pac-Man Jones, Donte Stallworth, Tank Johnson, Chris Henry, Michael Vick and many other unnamed players…why do any of these players deserve second and third chances in the NFL? When you kill, sexually assault, torture animals, own illegal weapons, deal in illegal drugs, etc. you should lose that privilege. I’m sure that I would be fired from my job for far less than the offenses these losers have committed. According to the law Vick has paid his debt to society. However his road to redemption (if even possible) is much longer than the time he spent in prison - and that road certainly should not lead to a continued million dollar career in the NFL. You are presenting these thugs as role-models for young children, how does that make you feel? The NFL is becoming more corrupt every year and it’s time you wake up and see what you have become.
In closing, I have boxed up all my 29 years of Eagles stuff from jerseys to autographs to trinkets to decorations. I am going to sell it all to those fans who see nothing wrong with this situation and then I will donate the money to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. You probably don’t even know who they are, they are the organization who rescued and rehabilitated 22 of the Vick dogs. You should look them up:

***FROM May 25, 2009***
So as if being presented wif a silver bone shaped plaque (from the HSOC Ex. Dir.) in front of all da people at da BOTB event, being adored by all who laid eyes on me, having another article written about me in the Ocean City Gazette and just plain having a fun day sniffing lots of fun meeting pals and furry bums while helping homeless puppers wasn’t enough…I GOT TO MEET THE WIENER DOG GANG! Dats right puppers…I met Flecken & Gabby & Grrrlinda & Gretchen! They came aaaallll the way from Florida to be at my event and too meet me! How cool is dat?!?!?!
The day started out rocky, the Weeeenier Dog mobile got a big ol’ flat tire so it put them behind about an hour, which in turned the “Wiener Dog Invitational Breakfast” into the “Wiener Dog Invitational Post-BOTB Lunch” …BOL!
I must woof the truth though, I was a less than hospitable Yorkie-host when all those tiny hot-dogs came stampeding into my house. I just wanted to stay on the porch b/c I didn’t wanna see what havock that Flecken & his harem were gonna reak! I finally snuck in and hid behind the trash can in the kitchen. While I was fearing for my life would you like to know what Kristen and Lizabeth and everyone else was doing???? Ooooohing & Ahhhhing over those wieners! The nerve of them! Hugging, kissing and petting those dogs while I was cowering (or maybe napping) while hidden in the kitchen. She thinks I didn’t see it, but I saw K playing fetch wif Gretchen, and I saw K letting Gabby give her so many kisses all over her face, and I even heard her telling Gretchen’s mommy how bootiful she thought Gretchen was, I even saw her shake the paw of the very aloof Flecken. It was horrible I woof ya….horrible! I was quite happy when it was time to get in the car and go off to BOTB.
Once we got there I was much nicer to the Gang. I sniffed and snooted them, I guess they weren’t so bad after all. They had really neat hand-made denim Gang vests on too wif spikes and skull sand stuff, all the stuff a good Gang needs – bol! I asked Gabby if I could join but she said that I was not long enough in da body…oh well…I’ll have to find a more suitable Gang in the future.
Anywoof, after we got to BOTB and did the meet n’ greet thing and the award thing it was time for the costume contest. I knew we had it in the bag before we even put our costumes on. Picture it, a Yorkish farmer wearing denim overalls and a straw hat with a crow on it, accompanied by 4 ears of hand sewn corn-dogs! There really was no competition once we got on that stage. Both faux Elvis judges voted for Farmer JJ and the Corn-dogs! YEAHHHH! Since a farmer is nothing w/o his corn, we were happy to let Flecken & the Gang keep the little award plaque for winning the contest.
It was a pretty exhausting day, so when BOTB was over we all loaded up and went back to my house, where I continued to be anti-wiener. I did come out to sit on the couch though, and I guess those hot-dogs took it as a sign of niceness b/c 2 of them came up and sniffed me. First Gretchen came up wif a toy in her mouth and sniffed me, then Gabby came up too. I was nice and let them have a quick sniff but then turned my face and continued to pretend that my home was wiener-free. The humans woofever were completely in love with all 4 of the hot-dogs. Lizabeth especially like the “funny brown dog”, who was Gretchen b/c she was playing fetch wif her. Flecken is a mamma’s boy and stayed pretty much wif his mom or under the kitchen table; Grrrlinda is a subdued and very demure girl wif soft hair and pretty eyes, Gabby is spunky and affectionate, and Gretchen (despite being the oldest at 7) is addicted to anything that squeak; she did not stop playing fetch (wif my squeaky bear mind you) for one minute! The day finally took a toll on everyone and as I peered down from the couch what do I see??? Wieners in my bed! First Gretchen, then Gabby too! Not even my bed was sacred - it was full of napping wieners. What’s a Yorkie to do? BOL!
Well, after what seemed to be about a 15 minute whirlwind day it was time for the Gang to pack up and head back home. So we said our woofbyes and off they drove into the New Jersey horizon. But not before Kristen ran out like a crazed nut and stopped the Wiener Mobile b/c the Gang had left the loofah dog toys & cookies that I had bought for each of them. Then they proceeded to drive off into the sunset…BOL!

I DID IT…I DID IT AGAIN…4 YEARS IN A ROW…TOP FUNDRAISER…OVER $3000 FOR THE HSOC!!! Am I wooftastic or what? BOL! J/k puppers, b/c it’s my generous pals who put the woof in my wooftastic-ness! Wifout all of you supporting me I could never keep this crazy money raising pace up for all these years! So FANKS YOU ALL SOOO MUCHES!!! (((HUGS)))
We had such a nice day at BOTB this year. My whole family was there of course, including my biggest fan, little Lizabeth. Bentley & Meg also came up wif us again dis year, they my 2 Golden Ret. “pals from a distance” that live next to us at the shore. BOTB is the only time that I do not bark at them or try to bite their noses off, I guess I am just distracted by all the ofver doggies…BOL! We all wandered around meeting other doggies and saying howlooo to my adoring public. That is until our local Philadelphia news channel interviewed me & K. We were sooo excited, the guy talked to K for like 6 minutes and they took lots of video of me too. But did they put either of us on TV…noooooo! But don’t get me woofin’ on that…BOL! I finks dat ugliest dog “Elwood” stole my 5 second of news fame, but dat’s ok, I bet he no has a shiny bone shaped plaque dat woofs, “HUMANE SOCIETY OF OCEAN CITY – BARKS ON THE BOARDS 2009 – TOP FUNDRAISER”. Mr. Hollingsworth (HSOC EX. Dir.) presented me & K wif the special plaque in front of everyone! He said some really nice fings about me & K and out family too, we thought dat was very very nice of him to do. I would have preferred an edible bone, but the shiny silver one will have to do…BOL!!!!
Hmmmm…what else…(think) (think) (think)…did I mention thaaaat I GOT TO MEET MAGGIE, ROMEO & JULIIETTE and MURPHY too! It was so nice to meet pals in da fur, and even more nice to meet the people being the fur! BOL! The day was hectic and we didn’t get to hang out as much as we liked but it really was fun to get to meet some good pals. Romeo was riding in style in a sweet ride just like I have, he was relaxin’ and takin’ in the event from the comfort of his cushy stroller. Juliette is just about the pretties wittle yorkie girl I have ever seen! She had a pretty pink dress on and a smile the whole day. Maggie, the flat coated ret. mix, was just as sweet as could be. She sniffed me, I sniffed her and it was great. Maggie’s mommy & daddy were just a nice as she was. Then came my pal Murphy, him and his mom and gramma got there late, but they still made it! Me & Murph hit it off (after I growled at him real quick) but after that is was smooth sniffin! Murphy’s mom is the sweetest girl ever! We’re looking forward to maybe meeting up wif Maggie at dog beach, and Murphy too when he is at the shore for vacation...

RB: TELL US HOW YOU CAME TO YOUR FURVER HOME?
JJ: It’s a very loooong storey so here goes…My ofver mom & dad, Dottie & Frank, who are my Kristen’s neighbors (but are more like family than anything) had an 18 year old Silky Terrier named Bonkers. Bonkey was not doing so well at all and they knew dat he didn’t have much time left. So one day they decided to get a little pupper dog hoping dat it would help them through Bonkers last months, and it did. Kristen when to all the pet store wif mommy & daddy dat day b/c she heard of a brand new pet store dat had opened. So they (Dottie, Frank & Kristen) all went in and immediately saw me and my sister, woofever I finks we all fell in love through the glass. The store lady took me & my sister out, she was spunky and squirmy, but I was calm and snuggly. I nestled right into everyone when they held me so there was no denying dat I would never have to go back to dat store cage again. On the ride home I sat in the back on Kristen’s lap and we instantly bonded, from then on me and my K were like peas & carrots.
I was around for Bonkers last 3 months and he really didn’t care for me…BOL! He was an old pupper man and I was a young whippersnapper so I understand why he didn’t like me always trying to play wif him. Hmmm…I guess dat’s why he always used to pee on my head when we were in the yard togever.
I lived wif mom & dad full time for the first few years of my life. Kristen would visit me every day, I would go to her house a little bit every night, and she would puper sit me when mom & dad went away to places. Woofever, mom & dad have had lots of really serious health issues so the more and more time I spent wif Kristen while they would be in the hospital etc, the more and more we became inseparable. Things all came to a head the second time Kristen went on her yearly 2 week vacation at the shore. A few days after she was gone mommy called Kristen to tell her dat I was really sick and dat I wouldn’t eat and all I did was sleep. Well of course Kristen & her mom and dad drove al the way home to see what was the matter wif me. But when Kristen walked in the door to see poor little sick me I was just fine...hehe! I was a little depressed faker, I just was upset dat Kristen had left me. So mom & dad packed a bag for me and I went back to the shore wif Kristen & her family for the rest of their vacation. From then on I went to the shore wif them every weekend and on every vacation.
It wasn’t until daddy had his really bad stroke dat I started sleeping over and living wif Kristen all the time. It’s just easier for Kristen to take care of me b/c mom & dad have so many health things to worry about. So now mom & dad have me during the day when Kristen is at work, then when she comes home I go back to her house. It’s a very nice custody arrangement dat we have…BOL! I’m very lucky to have so many people who love me! : - )
RB: YOU WERE BOUGHT FROM A PET STORE. ANY IDEAS OF HOW WE CAN STOP DOWN THE PUPPY MILLS?
JJ: Yes. I was bought from a pet store and am most likely the product of some Lancaster, PA puppy farm. We were all very uninformed about the whole puppy mill plight back then so please don’t hold it against us. I am one of the lucky pet store pups, I am happy and healthy and have 2 loving forever homes.
The more & more we learned about where pet store pups come from the more & more appalled we became and dat is why we got involved wif the no-kill Humane Society of Ocean Cit, NJ. They do great work to stop the vicious puppy mill cycle by providing wonderful puppers and kitties for families to adopt.
To put and end to the horror of puppy mills people need to inform them selves on the issue, not patronize pet selling stores in any way, and adopt or buy a puppy from a real reputable breeder who is breeding for the love of dog, not for the money of dog.
RB: YORKIES ARE VERY POPULAR AS CITY DOGS BECAUSE THEY ARE SMALL. IS THIS AN EASY BREED TO TAKE CARE OF? WHAT SHOULD POTENTIAL OWNERS KNOW ABOUT THE BREED?
JJ: When I go for walks people always tell me how cute and little I am, and how they would like a dog like me for their kids and dat’s when Kristen starts to talk. She has informed many a family dat Yorkies are not good pets for small children. We are fragile and a bit anxious and are not a good choice for people wif young children. For example, it has taken me 3 years to get used to little Elizabeth (K’s little cousin) and still, I look at her wif a hairy eyeball sometimes.
I am easy to groom b/c I don’t have dat normal long Yorkie hair, a bath and a brush and a trip to the groomer 2 – 3 times a year and I am good. But normal Yorkie hair takes lots of grooming and trips to the groomer so be prepared to spend a bit of money on a long hair’d cutie.
We’re a pretty healthy breed, but as all small breeds we are prone to having luxating patellas – it means your knee comes in and out of joint. Mine is not bad enough to need surgery (and hopefully it never will) but lots of times puppers need an expensive hospital stay to fix it and about 6 months to recover from it.
Ohhhh we Yorkies also make a funny sound caused by the pharyngeal gag reflex. For some reason we breath in too much air sometimes and get this backwards hiccup thing dat makes us choke and or make a funny honking sound. A little rub of the neck makes it go away.
RB: YOU SPORT SPIFFY CLOTHES. DO YOU LOVE TO DRESS UP?
JJ: Why fanks you Raja! I am pretty spiffy aren’t I? BOL! Actually, I’m a nudist at heart, but I don’t mind a sweatshirt when it’s chilly, and being all bundled up lets me play out in the snow longer so I don’t mind dat at all. But, do I love to dress up??? Let’s woof it this way, when someone gives you yummy treats for wearing an Elvis wig, or a home-made spidey-paws costume, or a Santa hat & beard, or a…well you learn to deal b/c the treats are sooooo worth it! BOL!!!
RB: DO YOU GO TO THE DOG PARK? ANY SPECIAL TRICKS YOU KNOW?
JJ: Kristen has helped me come a long way wif interacting wif ofver doggies. There was a point in time where I couldn’t even be on the same side of the street as anofver pupper. So when the Ocean City Dog Park opened up 2 summers ago K thought it a great way to help me along wif my socialization. And ya know dat it worked! I got along great wif the doggies there and even became part of the “entry gate welcome crew.” But after dat was done I would just hop back up on the table to hang wif the humans…BOL! Woofever, ever since my summer at the dog park I have learned dat it is ok to have your bum and your face sniffed. So now I am pretty much ok wif ofver doggies, unless they are puppies. I still grrrrr snap at puppies so K is sure to keep me away from them.
Tricks…Is being irresistibly cute a trick? I do dat great! BOL! I will sit and give paw for a treat and I can catch a ball in my mouth too. Dat’s about it.
RB: YOU DO A VERY SPECIAL EVENT. YOU WALK TO RAISE MONEY FOR AN ANIMAL SHELTER. CAN YOU TELL US HOW YOU GOT INVOLVED?
JJ: After we were completely in the know about the whole puppy mill issue we wanted to do something to help. It just so happens dat we found out about the Humane Society of Ocean City, NJ’s 2nd Annual Barks on the Board event dat summer. The first time I went we raised about $500, but after dat it became a year long drive to donate as much money as possible to this amazing little no-kill shelter. And now here it is 5 years later and we’ve gone from raising $500 to over $2,777 this year! It’s a great event, for a great cause, and it hade even allowed us to meet a bunch of our Dogster pals in the fur!
RB: TELL US ABOUT A SPECIAL INCIDENT IN YOUR LIFE.
JJ: Hmmmm…I tried to eat a little froggy once. I was at the shore and there were all these froggies jumping all around and I wanted to play wif one. So before Kristen even knew it I had one in my mouth, but then hacked it out as quick as it got in there. It was only in there for a second but it still made me all sick. So while K’s mom was spraying my foamy mouth wif the kitchen sink sprayer, K immediately called the local vet who they assured us dat the “spring peepers” are not poisonous, but they do secret some defense substance dat will make a pupper foam at the mouth and get an upset tummy. They also said dat the froggy prolly peed in my mouth for an extra defense kick. So I spent the night sulking and when no one was looking I threw up all dat icky froggy defense in the hallway, twice. After dat I was just fine. Woofever, I don’t know if I learned my lesson b/c occasionally I still try to chase those little buggers.
RB: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD FOR OUR READERS.
JJ: I love ice cubes, car rides and the beach. My favorite toy is my yellow ducky and my little light blue ball. I love to sleep under the covers right up against K’s legs and I give the best ear cleaning licks around! BOL!!!

I wanted to let you all know that I will again be walking in the 6th Annual "Barks on the Boards" dog walking event benefits the Humane Society of Ocean City, NJ (HSOC). The HSOC is a wuffd erful 501c3 certified, no-kill shelter that continues to function and grow with the help of public support and a full staff of volunteers.
“Barks on the Boards 2009” will take place on May 24th and it is the ONLY day that us furry 4-leggers are allowed to strut our stuff on the boardwalk! This will be my 5th year participating in this pawsome event - it is loads of fun walking on the boards with the smell of the beach tickling my nosey all while helping homeless furries. In past years I’ve even got to meet some fellow Dogsters, and am hoping to meet more this year!
Last year, I raised over $2,000 for the shelter & was named highest individual donor for the 3rd year in a row! I even got an award - a shiny silver plaque wif my name on it – and I had a special presentation ceremony too! Buuuuuut, I never would have been honored like that if it wasn’t for the generosity of my family, friends and most importantly my Dogster pals!
I know times are really tough this year, so I’m reeealy hoping to at least meet (or exceeded) my $2,000 goal like last year , - wif all your help maybe I can do it again! Can you imagine how much I could raise if just all of my pala alone donated just a dollar or 2?!? That’s A LOT of bones that will go a long way to help the puppers and kitties at the HSOC!
So…if anywoof wants to send a few (or a lot…bol!) of bones in my name you can send it directly to the shelter in my name: Jay-Jay, Yorkshire Terrier, Phila. PA (before May 24th!) Make sure you mention that it is for the “Barks on the Boards 2009” event. And hey, if ya can't send any bones don't worry about it! Just bark me some woofs of support to inspire my little legs to keep on walkin'! Any sort of support is welcomed and appreciated!
