Arrival Story:
Lucy was listed as a chocolate lab on the Human Society website. I called to confirm that this was the correct dog, because she is obviously no chocolate lab. They said it was correct and she was there and available. I went to meet "Elaine". She was shaved had rocks and tar in her paws, had a huge saggy tummy & teets from having babies and was listed as heartworm positive. She had been found wandering the streets in College Park and had been at the shelter for quite a while. They were hoping they might find a rescue for her because no one would take her. Everyone in my family was against it, but I decided Lucy was coming home with me, heartworms or not. To my surprise, when I took her for her 1st vet appointment, they said the pound was mistaken, she did not have heartworms! On top of that, she has the sweetest, best personality of any dog I have known. I really lucked out with her!!
