eating! going for walks and having his head and neck rubbed - hanging out with his people
being left alone
nylabones and soft toys he can de-squeak
any walk is a good walk as far as Ramsey is concerned
I know how to 'sit' and I am working on others.
Ramsey was picked up by Animal Control in King William County, VA. The rescue we foster for (K9 New Life) pulled him after we saw his picture. He was so pitiful. He should probably weigh 65-70 lbs and he barely weighed 30 lbs when we picked him up. He was so dehydrated, his eyes were sunk in his head. Our house seems to be the 'starving dog' house and we immediately said yes when we were asked to foster him. He's even skinnier 'in person'. He will definitely be a long term project dog.
Wow! We weren't joking about him being a long term project! It took a while, but we found him a forever home. And on May 7, 2009, Ramsey went to live with his new family, complete with 2 little kids to play with. Ramsey, I pray that you will have a long and happy life with your new family!
Sadly, in addition to his problems brought on because of lack of nutrition, Ramsey was also heartworm positive but has completed his treatment. He was given the 'all clear' from the vet and is currently on a monthly preventative. He has gained some weight and his skin and coat issues have cleared up since he's been on a healthy diet. In fact, he's become quite the handsome little guy!
Despite all he's apparently been through, he's a happy little guy with a sweet personality. His tail wags CONSTANTLY! He will make a wonderful addition for anyone looking for a good dog. He does well with other dogs and has developed some confidence. He's definitely not the frightened little guy he was when he came to us! Not sure about cats as we have none. He's done well when he's been around kids but does not live with any! Ramsey likes to be your welcoming committee when you walk in the door at the end of the day - he is so excited to see his foster family come home after the workday is over.
Ramsey loves to go for walks and to chase birds and squirrels. He is learning how to play and it's been fun to watch. You can almost see the light in his head go on when he figures out how to do something - it's as if he's thinking, "Hey! This is fun!" He is house trained as well as crate trained and has learned some basic commands. Ramsey has also started a beginner agility class. He has been a fairly quick learner and is very eager to please his foster mom.

Hooray! It finally happened! I have a forever home! Tonight I got a new mama and daddy and even a brother and sister! I am so happy! It's been a long road but I am so grateful for all the blessings that have been bestowed on me. It was in March of 2008 when someone decided to take a chance on me and pulled me from the shelter. I was in sad shape but the folks at K9 New Life found me a loving foster home and some great doctors to look after me. Now I am happy and healthy AND I have a loving new home. Doesn't get much better than that! My new family had a kennel and a soft comfy bed waiting for me along with some cool toys to play with. Toys that I don't have to share with Charley! I have a nice back yard to play in, too. And I am officially a Hokie Fan. I don't know what that means but since my new family members are fans, that's good enough for me!
Yep, I think I'm gonna like it here just fine!

Wow! I have been with FM & FD for a long time; over a year now. They keep telling me that they will find me a forever home. But I don't mind - I like it here just fine and will stay as long as it takes. For some reason, there just hasn't been much interest in me.
But this week was different. FM got four inquiries on me within a few days of each other! Wow! I never had that much attention before! One man FM knows personally but he and his son have just begun their search for the 'right dog'. But we went to meet 2 of the families this weekend and they both loved me! How cool is that?
FM liked both families. But she is having a hard time determining which one would be best for me. She hopes the rescue doesn't make her choose. It will be a very tough decision. And I am counting on her and the rescue to make the best choice.

Foster Mom and me have been really busy lately. She's been taking me for rides in the car and to the dog park so I can meet other dogs. We've also been going to an agility class at Family Dog Club. It's totally cool! I have had the best time! Foster Mom wasn't sure how I'd do but I had so much fun at their open house, she signed me up for a class. I think I surprised FM - she wasn't sure I'd do some of the things they asked but I pretty much did everything they asked me to! Especially when a treat was involved! FM got me some special treats that we only get at class or when we're practicing at home. They are SO good and I don't have to share them with Charley & Hank (my foster brothers). I did share them with my buddy, Elvis at class though. (He's a K9NL dog, too and I hope I find as great a forever home as he did!)
My favorite things are the A-frame and the dog walks. I still don't understand the weave poles but I guess I'll get the hang of it sooner or later. FM says we need to practice more. She says I probably won't win any trials but that I'm having a great time and getting some much needed exercise and that's all that matters.
Today we had our Christmas party and we played games and I got to show Foster Dad all that I had learned. We had a great time! We played lots of games both individually and with other dogs. FM even crawled through the dog tunnel with me! (that was a little weird; she's kinda slow) I won some prizes and even earned a ribbon! Then FM ate a dog biscuit. That was very weird and I'm sorta worried about her. I must remember to talk to Foster Dad about her. But right now I am pooped so I think I'm gonna hit the sack. FM said I'd sleep good tonight. Heck, I sleep good every night since I got rescued.
