Boy, do I love birthdays! Especially MINE!! I got new rawhides, a stuffed dinosaur, a kong, and Daddy got me my very own Green Bay Packers jersey. It's a Brett Farve #4! I look so handsome in it! EAT YOUR HEART OUT GUNNER!!! Mom made us doggie meatloaf and that crazy woman put CANDLES on it. She's a nut, but I love her anyway. Grandma made me her garlic dog biscuits and gave me a new leash. Everyone gave me lots of huggies and kisses, best of all doggies don't get birthday spankings! We get tummy rubs! Gunner tried to steal my dinosaur but I caught him this time and told him to back off. He's such a sneak! Woof at you later!

Happy Birthday To Me!!! I'm three years old today! Mom took me & Gunner for cheeseburgers. I get my presents tonight after everyone is home! I can't wait! Why didn't everybody take off work today like Mom so I wouldn't have to wait! If Gunner thinks I'm sharing today, he's goofier than he looks. This MY day! I even got birthday cards from Dr. Scott & my groomer, Lisa! Puppy eyes sure pay off!!

Observation Post Duty!

Since the deck is almost finished I have been on duty daily. I have to watch all the goings on in the neighborhood. Dad expects a daily report. I get to say hello to all the kids walking to school in the morning. Then the retired folks come out to walk, sometimes with their dogs. Then the kids go by on their way home from school. After that all the joggers come out(if Mom would let me chase them I could make them go a lot faster). Then the kids come back out to play. Sometimes they are on skateboards - I hate those things, they make a scary noise, so I bark at them. I like the kids on bikes, I can see them through the fence and run along with them. Mom yells when I do that 'cause I always run over her azaleas. It's just so much fun, I can't stop! Gunner has been showing off for the work crew, jumping over the railing. He got in trouble for stealing a soda from one of the workers. That dog just loves soda pop. The guys gave us some of their pizza on Friday. It was the perfect end to the week. Woof at you later! Jesse

The Workers Are Here!

I've been watching them all morning out of the kitchen window. Boy, do they make a LOT of noise! They seem like pretty nice guys. Mom took us out to meet them on our leashes. They all said hi, but acted like they were scared of us. I didn't even bark at them, what's up with that! Mom says it's because our eyes have "the look of eagles", Dad laughed and said more like "the look of turkeys". I'll have to think of something really devious to get him back for that remark! Turkeys, hah! It is entertaining watching these guys work. They're really good at the destruction part of the job. Hope they're as good at construction. At least none of them fell in the big holes they dug! I don't know how they got away with that!! Mom yells at us for digging our little holes and they dug these holes so deep I'd have to stand up all the way to see out the top. Mom better not get on us for digging anymore! I still have to teach Gunner the double front paw backward throw. He's got the rest of my techniques pretty good, he's almost ready for more advanced moves. I always tell him daily practice is the secret to all doggy rituals! Digging superior holes, de-stuffing toys, peeling tennis balls, conning treats from humans, it all takes practice to look innocent (if caught), and do things with flair and style! Mom takes one look at the yard and ALWAYS knows which holes are mine. Woof at you later, Jesse "muddy paws" James

Mom's A Meanie!

Mom played a dirty trick on us Friday. She took us to.... THE GROOMER!!! It's that mean streak again! She knows I hate water, shampoo, nail trims, & blow drying. I don't care how good I feel after, it's bad enough getting brushed at home., but she PAYS to have us tortured at this place! Course I do get even more huggies and snuggles after. Personally, I think I smell much better before the bath, but you just can't figure with humans! We did get a special breakfast after. Then I took a looong nap to recoup my strength. I tried really hard to show Mom how offended I was by the whole grooming thing, and ignore her the rest of the day, but you know, she just loves me sooo much, that didn't last long. Of course, I forgave her (this time). Next time I'm hiding out at Grandma's!! Jesse "Boy do I stink" James

We found out today that the new puppy next door is named Charlie, and it's a boy. He flew here all the way from Kansas for their son's birthday. His mom says he can come over real soon to play! YIPPPEEE!! I love puppies! Gunner better behave or else. Charlie will probably want to play with our toys and Gunner doesn't like to share, AT ALL. Mom says we will meet him one at a time so we don't scare the wag out of his tail. Very funny, Mom, HA-HA. I gotta go now, Mom is fixing ham and mac & cheese for dinner. I don't want to be late! I'm sure Gunner would love to get his paws on MY dinner, too!

Have Mom Captive!

Mom has been totally at our mercy this week. She fell down the porch stairs last Sunday morning going down to have coffee with Grandma. She has had to sit on ice packs all week, so Gunner and I have been at her side since then. She couldn't go upstairs to turn on the computer for us so we have been trying to entertain her. We brought her all our favorite (smelly) toys to throw for us. When she was sleeping I would drop them on her face to wake her up. We did get to stay up all night one time and have a TV marathon. One of the channels had ANIMAL COPS- HOUSTON on all night. Mom gets so upset when people mistreat animals. I say lock them all up and throw away the key! I am so lucky I have had two wonderful Moms. Not that Gunner and I are spoiled (yeah, right!). Hopefully Mom will be able to start walking us again today. I'm sure everyone in the neighborhood has missed seeing us. Woof at you later!

Guess what? The people next door got a puppy! A Golden Retriever. I went outside yesterday morning and heard some whining so I looked over my fence and THERE IT WAS! I went and got Mom right away. I tried to tell her I needed to go play with it, RIGHT NOW, 'cause it was all by itself. It was yipping at me and wriggling all over trying to get to me, but Mom said I have to wait for her to ask the neighbors if the pup can come in our yard to play. ( ours is fenced, their's isn't ) She said I may have to wait til it's a little bigger. I tried to tell her now is when they are the most fun! He's all roly-poly and fuzzy. Just right for rolling in the mud! Maybe they will let him come over tomorrow, I promise I'll be really good with him. Really Mom, PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE!!!

Waiting For Spring!

Boy, I can't wait for spring. I mean I adore cold weather but my feet get all wet, which I can't stand. I do like to sit on the porch and watch Gunner act like a nut. He tries to get me to come down in the yard and play with him. I make him wait a while so I can watch for company coming (and he can wear himself out a little). Then after he runs around for a while I'll play with him. I can still pin him in two minutes flat! He's not as tough as he looks. Friday he got to go with Mom to pick up Grandma from work so Mom let me go with to pick up Alyssa from school. She took forever to come out, but there were lots of kids for me to watch. None of them would come and play with me though. They walked around me and acted all scared of me. All I did was woof "Hi" at them. I really don't like those big bags they carry on their backs though. They look very suspicious to me. Alyssa told me all really good doggies take care of their kids by eating their homework ( I better check with Mom on that one). She is a pretty good kid though. She always shares her ice cream with me and lets me snuggle with her on the couch (when Dad isn't around). Gotta go, Gunner's calling and dinner is ready! PORK ROAST & MACARONI!! YIPPEE!! YAHOO!!

Is This The North Pole or What?

Man, am I glad Gunner and I have fur coats! It has been so cold out. All the snow is frozen solid and we keep getting iceballs between our toes when we play outside. Gunner likes to run and slide on the ice but it scares me when my feet start going in four different directions. I just want to stay inside and see how many good napping spots I can find. Dad was looking for me on Saturday but I was all curled up behind his recliner and he didn't see me. Mom was on the couch and could see where I was so she told me "quiet " until he walked past me and then gave me the signal to pounce. Boy, was Dad suprised! Mom started laughing at him and I jumped up on him for a " full body Jesse hug". I can't do that to Mom, when I put my feet on her shoulders she's so short I knock her over. Dad's tall so we can get eye to eye. Gunner tried boxing with me this weekend, (he hits like a girl) we're going to have to practice to see if we can get better. We both kept falling over. We gave Mom and Dad a good laugh though. Gotta go for now.
