Favorite Toy:
Plush "Celery Man". After opening all their Christmas presents, Kira took both her's and B'Elanna's and hid them behind the couch.
Favorite Food:
Kira was a stray from the streets so she wasn't picky. She did like corn on the cob, and, enjoyed cookies and ice cream.
Favorite Walk:
Down the road to trail rabbits. (We live in the country.)
Best Tricks:
When she had to go outside she would try to catch her tail.
Arrival Story:
We went to Benld Adopt-A-Pet, our local no-kill shelter, and right where we parked the car there was a kennel with a bunch of young dogs in it. They were all barking and yapping, except Kira. She just sat by the fence, looking right at us. By her looks we thought she was a Golden Retriever puppy, so we chose her. When we had her vetted, he said she was about 5 months old, not 8 weeks like we thought. She never did get to be a Golden Retriever height (more like a large Beagle size).
Bio:
Kira was the gentlest furchild. Her "soft" mouth always had a gentle smile. She loved people and her tail wagged a greeting to friends and strangers. Being eight months older than our Airedale, B'Elanna, she was her "big sister", and taught B'Elanna how to track, but when B'Elanna and I roughhoused with lots of growling, Kira pushed herself between us, "protecting" me. She thought it was inappropriate for B'Elanna to growl at me. Kira went to The Rainbow Bridge July 12, 2004. The tumor between her pancreas and stomach was large and cancerous and though she made it through the operation to remove it, the shock was too much for her loving heart. Her soft kisses and gentle paw are missed by my Mom and me, B'Elanna and housecats, Apollo and Athena. KIRA--February 28, 1997-July 12, 2004
