February 20th -- One Year Ago

It's been one year. How time flies; it seems like only yesterday when she passed away as I laid next to her on the floor. Her strong heart didn't want to stop ... her job of guarding and protecting our family wasn't finished yet ... and it fought to keep her spirit within her.

Time stood still as the conflict between heart and spirit continued -- until I told her it was OK for her to go. And as the words left my lips she breathed her last and her spirit soared up and away . . . away to the Bridge.

May you see with eyes of light in ever-dark.
May your mind walk free and unfettered amongst all,
touching wisely and well.
May you go in peace.
But wait for me, beloved.

My Tears Fall

I brought her ashes home today. I look at her pictures on Dogster and realize how beautiful she is. I miss all the little things, her play growl when I tried to hug her; her perky bright eyes looking into mine; her body stretched out on the floor in her sleep; our morning howling duo; her steadiness -- she was a "rock".
