Leave a bone for Emme (Rainbow Bridge 11/20/14)

Nicknames:
Nooney, Nu-nu, Shoo-shoo, Sugas (i.e. Sugar without the "r" sound)

Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

Birthday:
December 10th 2000

Likes:
Sniffing the ground; barking at and chasing squirrels, bunnies, or evil c*ts; other dogs; sleeping under covers; treats; going for a ride; Daddy

Pet-Peeves:
Taking any kind of medicine! Or a squirrel on our deck!!! Grrrr!

Favorite Toy:
A squeaky squirrel stuffie toy!

Favorite Food:
Any kind of meat; eggs; treats! Loves to try to get meat out of a kong

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere outside!!! She has her nose to the ground most of the time while outside (it is the Beagle in her!). And if she sees a squirrel or a bunny she will go into a "point," standing very still for a long time... the only thing moving is her nose!

Best Tricks:
"Take a Bow!" and "Shake!" and "Down" and "Wait"

Arrival Story:
Emme is my very first dog... I never knew a thing about dogs, but knew I wanted one; a female dog. Found out that a friends dog was pregnant (it was an "oops" and the dog was spayed after the litter was born, etc). I volunteered to take a puppy. I had the pick of the litter, and chose Emme (sight unseen) because she was the last born and the only brown female... My grandma had a Beagle, so I was hoping Emme would turn out more like a Beagle. My sister took Emme's brother Bruno; another friend took Emme's sister Sadie; and a neighbor took Emme's sister Chloe.

Bio:
Emme is the sweetest, most perfect dog in the world. I have had her since she was 6.5 weeks old. She was easy to train and she is always very good. (Of course I had the great help of the book, "Puppies for Dummies!") I cannot believe her laid back personality. Her brother, Charley (who I adopted when Emme was 2) is exact opposite of her! hahahah!

I thought I had a diary. As you can see, I was one of the first dogs here. In 2004. I am dog #761. Mommy is very sad that I passed away of osteosarcoma in my right hip. The vets had thought that I was limping because of a torn cruciate ligament and were treating me for that (i.e. pain control attempts). But I remained in pain, and Mommy knew it was bad. I was an older dog, with a collapsing trachea & interstitial lung disease, so the doctors were treating me conservatively.

Mommy couldn't stand seeing me in so much pain, so she asked for the surgery after conservative treatment wasn't working. A specialist was called in. On the day of my surgery, the vets took one more xray to prepare for the surgery. That is when they saw the large osteosarcoma in my hip. I only had a few days left to live. My time was up.

We did not know where to put in Dogster that I had gone to the Bridge. We think there used to be a way to indicate that here.
