Best Tricks:
EXPERT fly catcher! He is the best cuddler of any dog I've met. As for actual tricks, not really but he's a great working dog!

Arrival Story:
We got Dallas at just under one year of age. He had a young owner (21) and due to moving, new job, etc. he could not keep him. I have known him since the day he was born because he comes from the same kennel as my other German Shepherd. He fit into our family like a missing piece of a puzzle.

Bio:
Dallas has his CDX title and we are currently working on his utility title and tracking. He has done some bitework. He is the best guy and always has a smile on his face! He has a problem with confidence because he was trained with a heavy hand by his previous owner. I have been spending alot of time in every area increasing his self confidence. In training I mix LOTS of play and praise into it and ignore the bad stuff instead of correcting. I just try again and help him through it and when he does it right I act like he's the smartest dog in the world! He has made huge steps with me and is definitely a happier, more confident dog. The first time I was in the dog show ring with him we recieved 198/200 so it's very obvious to me he is finally in the right home with a family that loves him for who he is. He is a clown and we embrace that about him. He always makes me smile and when I come home from work he barks and whines and jumps up like he hasn't seen me in eons! One things for sure, I feel LOVED! It is a privilege to have a dog like Dallas and he has taught me so much.

I'm finally a water dog!

I am SO pleased to tell you - I finally conquered my fear of the water! We just got back from camping and they have a special doggy beach just for us canines. Mom bought a new, funky, lime green floaty thing for the water and I had so much fun trying to get it! The only problem is, Chico has loved the water since day one so he's a much better swimmer than I am. I didn't stand a chance of beating him to that tuggy every time Mom threw it. She felt my pain ; ) and made Chico come out of the water so I could go get it on my own. I sure do love the fact that my Mom is so in tune with my needs! Yahooo! One more fear down!

Chico has his cool hat off now. I don't know how he did it! Now I can see what all the fuss is about - he has a spot on his chin that I insist on keeping clean for him. Mom keeps telling me to leave it. Something about it not getting infected. Whatever that means! All I know is when your pals need a helping hand you should step up to the plate! I'm such a helpful guy : )

Well I never!

Mom took Chico out early this morning and he was gone for the entire day! I don't know where he's been but when he got back he sure smelled interesting. I'm pretty sure I smelled the doctor's office on him. He's wearing this funny contraption on his head, I guess it's some new device for cool dogs! My mom called it a "cone". Never heard of it! Chico yelled at me when I tried to sniff him. I missed him so much that I sulked all day and this is the way he treats me?! Mom says maybe tomorrow he'll feel better and we can be buddies again.
