Arrival Story: Chassis became part of our family March 1st, 2007. I went to a local shelter to meet and adopt another puppy I had seen on petfinder.com. At first I was sad, as that puppy was walking out the door with another family when I got there. Something made me look at Chassis, whom I had also seen on petfinder. I took her outside to get to know her and something just clicked. I couldn't leave her but I had wanted my boyfriend to meet her also. I took her inside, all mixed up about what to do. I think the shelter folks had been watching us and just knew she belonged with me - they brought the papers over and started filling them out before I said a word! They said they had been watching us play outside. It was the best thing that could have happened. Later that night , my best friend stopped by to meet her, and she DID act happy and playful when he came in - but that was NOTHING compared to how she reacted when my boyfriend got home! She went nuts with joy, dancing around him and following him everywhere - like she just knew he was HERS!! She has been a "daddy's" girl ever since!! It all proved to me they are right when they say everything happens for a reason - turns out Chassis wasn't even from that shelter originally. She was brought there from another shelter far away in a very small town where animals aren't adopted as much due to location. She had even been born there and spent her entire life in a shelter. Somehow she and I were both in the right place and right time to meet each other, and the rest, as they say, is history!!

ok guys guess what!!! i have a new sister, her name is Renny. we just got her a few days ago, saturday actually we weren't lookin to have anyone else come live with us. it's just that since i joined the family everyone thinks i am so cool, such a unique mix of dachshund and pit bull. mom decided to go back on petfinder.com & check out what other kind of interesting dachshund mix dogs were around. she wasn't lookin for another one at all. then the picture of "jill", renny's old name, popped up and mom & dad were in love. me & mom and her friend went to the vet clinic that was hosting "jill" to check her out and before you knew it we were all playin together and then "jill became renny and came home with us. i sure am glad, cuz although she can be a bit of a pain to me, it's neat having a baby sister!! even tho she is only four months old, she was scheduled to be sent to doggie heaven at a shelter in kentucky, probably cuz like me, she is also part pit bull. how stupid!! just means i am really strong for my size and have lots of energy!! renny got rescued by the plainfield illinois humane society and the rest is history. now everyone thinks renny is MY baby instead of just my sister, cuz we look almost like twins mom says. hope everyone wants to be renny's friend and treats her as cool as they treated me when i joined!!

While I do not expect everyone out there to love dogs, I take exception to people who are intentionally cruel for no reason. One of my humans is a truck driver and I love to ride along wherever he goes. Today my human and I were pulled over by State Police in Indiana. While I won't bother getting into what a creep he was toward my human, I will say he was even worse about me. I am not a very big dog, only 26 pounds. I have barked a total of two times in the month I have had my humans - and then it was one single bark each time. They say I am happy and friendly and very sweet - and I just like to sniff things out. When the trooper opened the passenger door, I just stood there sniffing and wagging my tail. ( I am used to new humans coming up to the truck and petting me ALL the time, everyday - I LOVE IT!!) The creep told my human he had exactly 3 seconds to leash and restrain me before he shot me!!!!!!!!! Now, I can understand asking for him to leash me - some people are afraid of dogs, even ones that aren't acting in an aggressive manner. BUT TO SAY THAT HE WOULD SHOOT ME????????? Incredible! My female human was so angry she was almost in tears when we t0ld her!! My human managed commendable restraint by only telling the trooper if he did that they were going to have a problem. I am not so sure what my female human might have done!! The worst part is, it's not like you can even complain to the higher ups - they wouldn't believe it - probably think we were making it up since after my human said that the trooper started writing tickets - one for doing less than 10 miles over, one for something else trivial. He looked as hard as he could for something else to write a ticket for, just couldn't find anything. Normally, I LIKE police - my female humans best human friend IS a police man. This trooper just gave humans and police a bad name!!
