Arrival Story:
I rescued my first dog, Ginger, just a week before I saw Lucy at the local animal shelter. I felt sorry for Lucy because she looked so pitiful. You could tell someone didn't give her attention by the matted hair. I was told that she was up to date on her shots. (found out later that wasn't true) She was so sweet. Instead of wagging her tail, she shook her butt. Every time I walked past her pen, she was looking up at me... shaking her butt. I went to my daughters house and got her crate to bring her home. She had feces in her matted fur. The smell was awful! I bathed her 3 times and got her to the groomer the next morning! What a difference!

Bio:
The day after getting Lucy home, I took her to the vet. We got her up to date on her shots and I had her tested for heartworms. I noticed that she had a cough & I just had a bad feeling that it was heart worms. The test was positive. There was no way I was going to take her back to the shelter. (It is a kill shelter too!!) I decided to check some things out online before even considering the treatment. I read so many things about the heartworm conventional treatment that it scared me to death. The dog is supposed to be calm, no running, etc. after having that treatment. She is a very excited dog. She gets excited when I come in the door.. shaking her butt, wanting to be loved on. I decided to try herbs. She stopped coughing within a week so I have high hopes that the heartworms will be gone!!! *** UPDATE ~ I had the vet give Lucy another heartworm test & it is NEGATIVE!!! Black Walnut & wormwood worked for her!!! I'm so excited! Can ya tell?

Mom & dad are proud of me

I've kept my word that I won't run off if mom & dad let me out of the fence to play too. We had a lot of fun today. We got to swim in the pond. I usually don't get in the pond because I am a little scared. But, I love mud puddles. Today I decided to see what the big pond was like. I got muddy... that's my favorite part. We all got baths when we got home. Now, we smell pretty again.

Koda & Fox didn't seem scared at all. I might try to go a little farther next time, but I'm not too sure about that yet.

All of us were allowed out of the pen today & we stayed in our own yard! Mom & dad said they were so proud of us. I'm gonna try really hard to stay close so they will let me out with them more often. I didn't like it when I had to stay in the pen.

Ginger & I got our hair cut Monday & I am just too darn sexy. We needed a hair cut before then, but mom & dad couldn't afford it. I have been scratching on my neck & made a sore spot so my mom put some medicine on it. I didn't like it when she touched it but it does feel better now.

Until next time.... Lucy

I told ya!

Koda got caught. He was stealing food off the counter. I told him he shouldn't do it, but he wouldn't listen to me. I don't get in trouble too much because I know what we are not allowed to do & I always try to follow the rules. Well, most of the time. I do like to run off & meet new people when I get a chance to get outside the fenced yard.

I'm kind of excited about getting my hair cut Monday. We are going to a new groomer. Gizmo's haircut looked pretty good, so I think she will do a good job on mine too.
