What's your sign?:
Sagittarius: Does your Sagittarius pup seem to be having a good time all the time? That's because this is the happy-go-lucky dog of the zodiac, always playful and jumping around and letting their master know just how delighted they are to be in their home. Extremely energetic as well, this is a dog that would much rather be outdoors, catching the frisbee in the park. This is an animal that can't stand to be cooped up, so don't lock it in inside if at all possible. What the Sag pooch excels at is being a scout. That St. Bernard on a mountain trail, barrel around its neck? A Sag, for sure! Bring your Sag canine with you when you hit the (hiking) trail or go camping, as they are sure to enhance the experience. As Sagittarius is the sign of freedom, be sure that Fido has plenty of room to roam -- these animals like to wander off and enjoy getting plenty of exercise while they're at it. That said, they will always remember that they're part of a family unit, so you needn't worry that they won't return from those nocturnal adventures. Finally, the Sag dog is great with kids, so when it's time for that summer vacation, be sure to bring 'em along!

Making The Grade

April 9th 2008 3:06 pm   [link to this entry]

This past Monday was Puppy Training Class, night two. The first part of the class was really fun. We got to get off leash and play with all the other pups in the class. I played bery well with all the dogs, although I must say, I really enjoy playing with the bigger dogs. When all was said and done it turns out I'm pretty well socialized. After puppy play we had to start working on the hard stuff. We practiced out SIT, DOWN and COME from last week. I did pretty good but could use a little more work on the COME. I get riled up pretty easy and am so consumed with what the other dogs are doing I forget to listen. And now they want us to sit and let someone grab us by the collar when we come...I much prefer to run once I come, i think it a fun game but mom doesn't seem to like it much. The other new stuff was pretty difficult this week. We worked on WATCH and LEAVE IT/TAKE IT. Let's just say I was pretty tired by the end of the evening and ready for bed. I guess it will be another long week of homework, mom says, "we need to be top of our class."

My First Day at Puppy Class

April 1st 2008 8:29 am   [link to this entry]

I don’t anticipate being very faithful about writing but I’m going to try, at least when there is something good to talk about. So last night was my first night of Puppy Class. It was so much fun! While there wasn’t much play involved I did get to be around 7 new dogs and I just had a great time. We started off working on the basics: Sit, Down, Come and learning not to jump on others. I did pretty well because mom and me started practicing Sit and Down a week or so ago and I don’t jump too much. My Come needs some work; I get distracted easily. Mom says Janice, my instructor, gave lost of homework so I anticipate being pretty busy this week working on it. On the upside, there will be treats involved.
