Arrival Story:
We adopted Guinness in March from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue at PetsMart. He was bounced around a lot - given up in Syracuse NY, moved to Atlanta GA, then transferred to VA all within a couple of weeks.

Guinness is an angel! He's only barked maybe three times since we adopted him, he eats when we feed him and never begs, he sleeps until we wake up (even if that's 11am on weekends), and never makes messes in the house. I can't imagine why anyone would have given him up!

Re: Chance:
My new little brother Chance is annoying because he jumps a lot and steals my toys. He IS good for some things though - I've learned that dogs should ride in the FRONT seat of the car and should jump over baby gates, not stay quietly behind them. I am granting him a trial period to see if things work out...

Greetings! My day started off sadly because Mommy had to leave on a work trip. She'll be gone for a whole week, but Daddy says we can play as many video games as we want while she's away, so it's not all bad.

This afternoon, I was playing in the backyard and noticed that the gate was OPEN!!! Sometimes the neighbor boys come into my yard to fetch stray balls and forget to close the gate behind them. I escaped before Dad could stop me, but he caught me when I stopped to mark a bush in the front yard. Dad's gonna have a chat with those boys...

After dinner, we did a trial run to see how I'd react in Dad's little sports car. Since Mom drove her car on this trip, we can't go to doggy training class in the comfort of her SUV. Looks like I'm not going to be able to handle riding in the little car. Dad uses his hand to shift gears but he should be using it to pet me and I have to TELL him that! Oh well... he's going to call the trainer and find out what we should be working on for the following week so we don't get behind.

That's all for now...

BUSY weekend!

I LOVE weekends! On Saturday, Mommy came downstairs early, took me outside, fed me breakfast, and took me upstairs to sleep in the big bed for a few hours. I'm still nervous about those hardwood steps, so she carried me up and that's not easy! I played peek-a-boo with Daddy for awhile and then took a very satisfying nap. I could very easily get used to that space-age temperpedic mattress. It's like floating on a cloud... Then Mom went out shopping with HER mommy, so Dad and I played video games all day and I napped some more.

Sunday was glorious but SO exhausting! We did the whole Guinness gets to come upstairs routine again and slept in very late. Then Mom's friend Amber came over and we all went to the Super Pet Expo. It was crazy busy and noisy, but I was very well-behaved and a few strangers even stopped to pet my big ears. Even though lots of dogs made messes in the exhibit hall, I of course did not. Daddy bought me beef treats and a Guinness beer sign for my kitchen. Mommy bought me a green wiggly ball for outside. PetsMart gave me a plastic frisbee, but I'm not sure if I want to play with that yet.

Then, as if this wasn't enough excitement, we went to the dog park for the first time. At first, I just did the standard perimeter fence check, but after awhile I opened up and played with one or two dogs at a time. Eventually, I was running around with the whole pack, jumping and chasing and having a terrific time! We met two very nice dogs named Kayla and Dexter and I hope to see them again soon!

As you can guess, I practically passed out cold when we got home even though it was only 5 o'clock. We did so many new fun things and I can't wait to do them all again!

First doggy training class

Last night was my first doggy training class at PetsMart and I was absolutely the best dog in the whole class, if I do say so myself. All the other dogs were barking and jumping on each other and the humans. One dog jumped on MY daddy - decidedly uncool. I don't know any commands yet, but I'm confident that I'll learn quickly because I pay close attention and let's face it - I get treats!

I'm looking forward to the weekend cause Mommy and Daddy will be home more. That means more playing in the yard and watching tv for me! They might even take me to the dog park for the first time on Sunday since I did well around all the other dogs in my class.

I'll keep you posted!
