We were specifically looking for a short hair Chihuahua and found quite a few that breeders had for sale but for too much for us to afford. We started visiting the local pounds and man was that depressing. We wanted to help every dog we saw. I finally came across the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care & Controls site at: http://animalcare.lacounty.gov/Ado ptSearch.asp. We saw Cash the first search we made in the Carson pound and immediately went to get him. He had 2 huge aggressive dogs next to him and was a bundle of nerves. We couldn't take him home that day. All we could do was put a hold just in case the owners came to claim him & because he had to be neutered, microchiped and get shots before they would release him. We finally picked him up January 8th, 2008.
It took Cash about 2 weeks to heal from his surgery. He was very sore and bruised. He had his tail between his legs for the first 2 weeks and seemed paranoid of every single noise on his short walks. He now struts around the neighborhood, head and tail held high, as if he owns the entire neighborhood. We take him on a 4-6 mile walk through Veteran's Parkway / The greenbelt, which is the old railroad right of way cutting through Manhattan, Hermosa & Redondo Beach, every Saturday and there is a lot of routine in his life now. We take him to the Redondo Beach Dog Park throughout the week so that he socializes with other dogs. He pretty much gets along with all dogs but is still nervous around people he doesn't know. We know he is happier and we are very happy we found each other! Bio: We think Cash is part Jack Russell Terrier and Chihuahua but we aren't sure since he's a rescue. We also don't know his actual birthday so we used our sons birthday and named him after our son's nickname. My Peeps:
My Butler
My Butler is soo cool. He works at home so he is always there for my needs. When he wakes up in the morning, I usually sneak up on the bed with My Mama. He goes and does work things but as soon as I hear the Woodpecker on the Audubon Society clock, I know breakfast is coming so I go hang out with him.
My Mama
I wait to get my food in the morning from her. When My butler finishes making breakfast every morning, he tells me to get her. That is the most exciting part of my day!
"Go get Mama!" Yeah! My feet can't move fast enough on the wood floors. When I get her, I have to wait for her to come out and give me my breakfast but it's worth it. I love her!
Uncle
I know my name came from his nickname and really respect him for that. My first week home, I bit him on the nose though. I still had the trauma from my past life in me, which I don't want to talk about, and my future manlyhood was taken so I was a bit irritable. I can't apologize enough though because this dude is beyond cool! He forgave me before it happened and then blamed himself afterwards. He is defending our country now. God bless and God speed - uncle!
