Arrival Story:
We found Max outside our front gate, the day after xmas day 2002. He was filthy, skinny and was recovering from a broken front leg. He had a very thick chain with a heavy padlock around his neck as a collar and his ears had been very raggedly cropped by an amatuer. We initally thought he was a big Pit Bull and we did not want to adopt him as we already had 3 dogs and were concerned that he might be dog aggressive. He certainly wasnt human aggressive. But once I did a little research on the net I found out he was an American Bulldog. We took him in, bathed him, got him to the vet and got the big collar off him. We have a fully enclosed front porch so we kept him there while we posted fliers to try and find him a home, but after 3 days we had bonded so strongly that I was reduced to tears while discussing finding him a home. After that I realized that Max was my dog and he has been my faithfull companion ever since.
